Additional observations The Martell-Jackson area is a small rural community in the Diocese of Sacramento; St. Katharine is a new parish, with the new building being dedicated in 2013. It serves some 1,400 families in beautiful country which once drew large numbers of settlers due to the California Gold Rush.
some will object to lack of a Latin Mass and the architecture of the building
You spot on Mike….I certainly will
Wow, not one of those bowling alley lane proportioned, loaded with bric-a-brac church buildings that self-described “traditional Catholics” usually get excited about. I would think the cool baptism font alone would disqualify it for consideration as being a church worth driving to?
It’s good to hear they have a solid priest. May God richly bless them!
Those are no “bric bracs” those items which give Glory to God, the parish looks like a Quaker meeting hall. May this young priest make the necessary changes that liberals will complain about
I think this parish church looks just fine. It gives every bit as much glory to God as one of those skinny/long, bric-a-brac churches. I hope the pastor does not waste $$$ catering to the personal tastes of self-described “traditional Catholics.”
And more than 1/2 hour for confessions. God bless this priest.
I have attended Mass here passing through on vacation. As I understand it, the sanctuary was created from a repurposed new auto dealership that folded or never opened following the down turn. You would never know that from inside the sanctuary itself. Smart investment on the diocese/parish’s part in light of the tough decision to consolidate to one. The Mass was reverent and was warmly welcomed.
