Father Joseph Illo gave an 11-minute homily on Sunday, January 26:

Ezra was the scribe during the re-building of the temple. He brought out the books of the law. They had come back from Babylon to rebuild the temple (525 BC). But first Ezra had to re-build their faith. The people were weeping. He told them to rejoice in the Lord. They made the 4-5 month walk in 538 from Babylon to Jerusalem..

Similarly we made a walk (Walk for Life) yesterday to align ourselves with the natural law.

The truth that Ezra proclaimed is the truth that Christ proclaimed. We order our lives today.

Every Walk for Life is like World Youth Day for me. I’ve been to eight World Youth Days characterized by the youth and so is the Walk for Life.

Every walk down Market Street is always characterized by the joy of hopeful expectation. The truth is that every life is a gift of God. It’s the truth that we all know.

From the Gospel of Life (JPII): “Every person walking down the street, all the demonstrators, yelling and screaming are worth the Blood of Christ. It is from the blood of Christ that all draw the strength to promote life.”
