Names of priests Father Raul Lemus, pastor. Father John Plass, in residence. Father Raul is originally from El Salvador and grew up in tough neighborhoods in the San Francisco area. He left the Church for a time in his youth but returned, and entered the seminary. He is conservative, and has been active promoting vocations to the priesthood. Father Plass is promoter of vocations for the diocese (replacing Father Raul in this role); he was ordained in 2020. He’s orthodox, serves as chaplain at Cardinal Newman High School and in a variety of leadership/administrative roles at the chancery. He was parochial vicar; he now assists at the parish on a limited basis on weekends.

Additional observations St. Joseph was established as a parish in 1913. It is a small parish south of Santa Rosa just off the 101 freeway. It’s a vibrant community, with many active families.
