Names of priests Father Raul Lemus, pastor. Father John Plass, in residence. Father Raul is originally from El Salvador and grew up in tough neighborhoods in the San Francisco area. He left the Church for a time in his youth but returned, and entered the seminary. He is conservative, and has been active promoting vocations to the priesthood. Father Plass is promoter of vocations for the diocese (replacing Father Raul in this role); he was ordained in 2020. He’s orthodox, serves as chaplain at Cardinal Newman High School and in a variety of leadership/administrative roles at the chancery. He was parochial vicar; he now assists at the parish on a limited basis on weekends.

Additional observations St. Joseph was established as a parish in 1913. It is a small parish south of Santa Rosa just off the 101 freeway. It’s a vibrant community, with many active families.
The roof is shaped like the Sorting Hat for Hogwarts.
Close to Sonoma State, Nice place to visit. Wondering if Steve and Rebecca Browin are still around? Nice place.
In the pic of the sanctuary, are the statues up high of the three wise men and a camel? I think that placement is weird.
Placement, I’m hip! better to place them on the sides of the pews so that they look like midgets who are late to mass and sneaking in.
I wonder what the priests and people of the parish think of these comments, if they see them. And, the comments are about the roof and the placement of the Magi. I think there are several other more important things about this parish.
I think placing a pot of poinsettias under the credence table is weird. Way too many flowers. The sanctuary is overrun with flowers. Less would have been more. Why do old lady church decorators think making the altar look like a wholesale florist distributor is pretty or appropriate?
