Father Joseph Illo, pastor of Star of the Sea parish in San Francisco, gave a 16-minute homily on Sunday, October 6.

This month is full of great feast days:

Blessed Faustina only had three years of formal education, but she is being considered to be a doctor of the Church.

St. Francis was a saint of the Cross. He was a stigmatic. He wore a cross constantly.

Tomorrow is the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. The readings are those in the first part of the Hail Mary. We got this feast from the Muslim invasion of Europe in the 1500s.

Pius V, the first Dominican pope, had a premonition of the victory by the Catholic forces.

The forces of evil have invaded our country too. Cardinal Caffarra was asked by John Paul II to start an institute for marriage and the family.

He wrote to Sister Lucia in Portugal. She wrote back that the decisive battle will come between Satan and Christ and will be over marriage and the family.

On Oct. 15, 1917, the three children saw the Holy Family. The 70,000 saw the sun, very large, spinning toward the earth. The sun went back. The crowd saw the infinite mercy of God
