Community Crest is a neighborhood on the eastern portion of El Cajon, about three miles up the hill from the center of the city. It is a rural area, with horses and family-owned chickens, and about 3,000 spread out homes.
Fellow parishioners This is a smaller parish, with 86 families.
Parking No problem.
Additional observations St. Louise is a parish of the Diocese of San Diego. It was established in 1944. It is a more traditional interior; the church was redone after The Cedar Faire partially destroyed it in 2003. Renovations are ongoing; the most recent is the building of a handicapped ramp from the parking lot. It is a smaller church, tabernacle and crucifix in the center. There is a nice Marian grotto by the rectory.
Saint Louise de Marillac, please bring me a Cadillac. My grandma taught me that. Personally, I’d rather have a Tesla. But which saint to ask for that?
Caddy, I don’t know about Teslas. But, go to Saint Frances Cabrini for a Lamborghini.
Perhaps St. Francesca of Rome? Her name almost rhymes with Tesla, and she’s a patron saint of drivers.
“Fr. Burnia has been pastor since 2011. He is pious, conservative, friendly to tradition and welcomes orthodox programs.” So don’t look for him to ever be named a bishop or Cardinal.
Until we have a Great Catholic Reawakening
Wonderful parish. I was an altar boy there in the 80s. And I’m just about to move back to Crest to become a parishioner once again. Thank you Fr. Scott for all of your hard work.
Crest: the only community in California named after toothpaste!
I’m sure it’s a good parish with a fine priest, but with such a small number of families, how long is it really going to last? I’m very pessimistic about the present and future of the church.
Thank you very much for featuring our beloved parish. My husband Harry and I have been attending for decades. I am a member of The Altar and Rosary Society there.
You shouldn’t provide such specific information about yourself or your family. Scammers could easily figure out who you are and since they know you go to the parish they could target your home while you’re at an altar or rosary society event.
I wrote a positive review on this church and another similar rural church in the past, but for some reason the editors chose not to post them. I simply do not know why they would leave them out. Tis a puzzlement.
It has been a true blessing to attend mass here.
This article was brought up in our recent parish council meeting. We are truly grateful for the recognition.
