Watch Father Avram Brown’s vocation story:
Holding hands, what for ? Isnt that what Protestants do ?
I thought holding hands was a common practice during the Our Father [Padre Nuestro]. That’s been my experience at almost all US Catholic Churches I’ve been in.
Mikem, I suggest reading the documents from Vatican2 and no where will you find holding hands as part of the mass. It never has been or should be part of the mass. This was brought in by some and took off in the 70’s. My question to you is did they hold hands at the foot of the cross when Jesus was crucified ?
Who knows?
The documents of Vatican II do not tell us specifics about what we should or shouldn’t do at mass. They make no reference to holding of hands – or not. If you yourself don’t want to hold hands, then don’t.
There are certain documents that are Commandments, not Suggestions. One certain story is about Sodom and Gomorrah. Some send the impression that its all about them. Holding hands, such a Sacred moment.
It looks to me that everyone in the picture is over 40 years old. I cannot see any children nor young families. That’s not good for the Church’s future.
Dear [doubting?] Thomas, don’t worry! This photo appears to be taken during the “Our Father” just before the peace and after the Consecration. This entire rite would be during the liturgy of the Eucharist, during which time, youngsters would be sent to their catechism class. And by the way, if you can determine the age of the people in this photo, taken from behind and from far away, I congratulate you on your excellent eyesight and talent for interpretation. Please be glad that you see pews full of people. That IS good for the Church’s future!
would like to know if there is a special Mass for the consecration of Jesus through Mary
thank you and many Blessings
