Additional observations Porterville is a city in the San Joaquin Valley, not far from Visalia; the parish is part of the Diocese of Fresno. St. Anne is a historic parish, established in 1896. It began as a parish mission in 1892. The current church was built in 1952. Artistic features include an Italian marble altar and reredos (carved designs surrounding the pillars). Holy Cross Church, which is a larger church building and part of the parish, was established in 2006. Although a new church, it is well done.
