Additional observations Holy Family Church was previously the cathedral of the Diocese of Orange before the diocese purchased the former Crystal Cathedral from evangelist Robert Schuller. It was founded in 1921; the current church was built in 1958. It became the cathedral church of the diocese upon its formation in 1976, and relinquished the role in 2019 upon the dedication of the new Christ Cathedral. Notable artwork includes mosaics and stained glass windows created by Hungarian artists and sisters Isabel and Edith Piczek.
