Additional observationsa St. Therese is a 100-year-old parish in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. It is a large church devoted to St. Therese of the Little Flower. It is probably the most conservative in the area. It has a 24-hour adoration chapel, strong Respect Life ministry, Legion of Mary and Natural Family Planning classes. Although the nearby Carmelite Sisters of the Sacred Heart Motherhouse has its own chapel, don’t be surprised to see the sisters lined up for confession on Saturdays. The cloistered Discalced Carmelite nuns are located nearby as well. There is a gift shop which sells religious items next to the vestibule.

Very, very nice. A spiritual oasis no doubt.
Beautiful 😍
I’ve been there. Like with nearly all Catholic Churches, it is suffering from the decline in Mass attendance and religious affiliation that is happening all over the country.
Better to light one small candle and keep the True Faith going. Numbers of worshippers, during hard times, don’t matter. Those nuns are terrific. Blessed to have them.
Numbers of worshippers matter for keeping the lights on. If you don’t have enough parishioners contributing to the offertory to keep the lights on, candles are all you’re going to have out in the cold, dark street.
The nuns will all pray, in times of great need– and I bet their needs will all be met. Otherwise, God will help them by simply relocating to another church, perhaps nearby…. or maybe to the Carmelite Sisters of the Sacred Heart Motherhouse chapel, or to the chapel of the Discalced Carmelite nuns. There are two excellent religious orders, there. As Christ said to Satan, “It is written, man shall not live by bread alone…” (St. Matthew 4:4)
