He entered the Canons Regular of St. Augustine in Vienna, Austria in 2003 but returned to the diocese in 2012. Father Semple is also pastor of nearby St. Patrick Parish, which has a 9 am Sunday Mass. Both are traditional parishes, with “old school” liturgies, music, and homilies.
Music The music director follows the 19th century French romantic school, preferring chant and organ. The parish’s organ is in the midst of a renovation to more than double the number of its pipes.
Parish groups and activities Youth ministry, care for the homebound, catechism, food bank.
Parking There a large lot surrounding the church; there is also parking on the street.
Additional observations St. Francis was founded as a Jesuit mission parish in 1906; the residents in the surrounding community worked in such industries as mining, lumber and the railroads. The church has many attractive features, including oak carvings of the Stations of the Cross and images of keys over the confessional. Other traditional features include a baldacchino over the sanctuary and altar rail.
