Additional observations St. Catherine of Siena is the Newman center church serving the students, faculty and administrators (and visitors) of the University of Utah. It is located across the street from the college. It was established in 1920 and is part of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, which encompasses the entire state of Utah. Among the center’s unique features is a replica of the Cross of the Stigmata, in front of the original of which St. Catherine of Siena received the wounds of Christ mystically on her hands and feet. It is behind the altar and stands 9.5 feet high by 6.5 feet wide.
