Pope Leo XIV on Jan. 31 addressed members of the “One Humanity, One Planet” conference — an international group of young political leaders working on proposals for political impact — and told them that the greatest threat to peace is the murder of unborn children.
“I am delighted to meet with you, young people from every part of the world, “ the Pope began, “united by a shared commitment to the pursuit of the common good through political engagement.”
He thanked the group for their commitment to peace.
“Peace, indeed, is above all a gift,” Pope Leo said. “We receive it from those who came before us, and for this we must be grateful. Peace is also a covenant, which binds us to one another and commits us to safeguard it where it exists and to pursue it where it is absent. Finally, peace is a promise, because it opens before us the hope of a better world, a hope shared by all people of good will.”
He urged the members of the conference to find ways to allow citizens to participate in their governments, which he said is the foundation of universal fraternity.
He added that peace is impossible while humanity wages war against itself by mistreating, ignoring, or discarding the weakest members of society.
He quoted Mother Teresa, who said at the National Prayer Breakfast in 1994 that “the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion.”
“Her words remain prophetic,” the Pope commented. “No policy can genuinely serve the people if it denies the unborn the gift of life, or if it neglects to support those in need, whether in their material circumstances or in their spiritual distress….”

No theft there. It’s true. And, shouldn’t we quote the Saints and even our Lord Himself?
Yes Pope Leo abortion kills the unborn and our future. End Abortion Now! Adoption is the Option.
Further to my comment Mother Teresa also saw abortion as the greatest example of poverty. “It is poverty” she said, “to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish.” She also said if a mother can kill her own child-what is left but for me to kill you and you kill me?” End Abortion Now! Adoption is the Option.
The murder of babies is caused by sins of impurity. Sins of impurity are caused by a lack of modesty. Lack of modesty in the Vatican II Church causes spiritual distress for those who are trying to satisfy their Sunday obligation.
While I am thinking about the murder of babies, the Old Testament shows that when people start to worship fake gods, they start to murder babies.
“..and told them that the greatest threat to peace is the murder of unborn children.” Some young political leaders may choke on those words unless they reverence Christ, IMHO. “We receive [peace] from those who came before us.” Yes Holiness, from Christ who came before us. It is a pity you could not have stated that directly; ultimately this is the message everyone should hear. Evidently some of your audience are not Christians. May their striving for peace lead them to the foot of the cross, to the Prince of Peace.
For many years, I have had an image of myself and all the Catholic kids in my high school class, all dressed up, kneeling at the Altar Rail in church, on Sunday morning– after a Sat. night… most obeyed Christ, the Church, and their parents, and were good, decent kids, in that era. They were ready to grow up and marry, and be good Catholic husbands and wives, mothers and fathers. Only a few got in trouble, became juvenile delinquents, and ruined their lives in their teen years. No drugs, then (thank God!) but disobedience at school, alcohol, smoking, speeding in cars, teen sex, and other bad behaviors, ruined a few kids’ lives. Our society badly needs to return to mandating good, mature behavior, good manners, good dress, and good speech (no obscene language), hard work, self control, service to others, and good Christian morals. Maturity in dating, respect for women— and respect for all life, from conception to natural death, is a must.
During that time, preparation for Holy Communion was very serious. Although you might have obeyed Church rules, and had not committed a mortal sin– requiring Confession, first– Catholics really were careful about receiving Holy Communion. You did not always receive Communion at every Mass. Assistance at Mass was focused more on prayerful worship of God. Only a portion of the congregants would receive Communion, at any Mass. But most were basically eligible. Today, an entire congregation nay receive Communion at all Masses– yet, a great many may not be true believers– and may also be leading unrepentant, sinful lives.
How can I have respect for women if women don’t respect themselves and dress like hoes?
These girls and women are crudely manipulated by mentally sick, sex-obsessed celebrities, mindless liberals, and Godless feminist activists, devoid of decency, morality and4 common sense– mindlessly promoting “feminist dominance” and “free sex” to the public, in their very poor, rebellious concepts of “fashions in the gutter.” They are anti-Christian, anti-society– and sadly— anti-woman. “What is a woman?” states one of their mindless, Godless, feminist, pro-LGBT, liberal activist judicial celebrities.
Before the 1960s era, American kids were pretty good, with good nmanners, good dress, good, decent speech (not obscenities), and good behavior, with a good, decent moral conscience. Only a few got in trouble at school, engaged in immoral behaviors, and broke the law. Most Catholic kids who committed mortal sins, were stung by their consciences– and went to Confession. Not many were hopeless, habitual mortal sinners, preparing for a criminal life. But since the evil 1960s, statistics show that one-third of all American adults have had criminal records! And millions have led promiscuous lives, and have legally killed their own unborn children. No respect for God and country; no respect for Marriage, family, children and morality. This must change.
LiveAction has a TV ad about choosing Adoption instead of either abortion or raising the child as an unwed mom, that will air during the Sunday Superbowl game.I just saw the ad. Hope it helps. I am amazed that sending pregnant, unwed teens to maternity homes, and providing them with good medical care and adoption services, did not continue as standard procedure, after the Satanic, selfish, filthy, violent 1960s era. It solves both problems, in a safe place, for mother and baby. It is important to provide love and support for both mother and unborn child. And after the child is born, and sent to the adoption services, it is important to help the teen girl get back on her feet, finish her education, and lead a good and successful life, afterwards. This procedure is also far less costly than Obamacare for abortionsn (including abortion pills)– or unwed moms and babies, sadly on welfare.
In an email today, Riley Gaines, who works with TPUSA, stated that Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte has announced a Montana state partnership with TPUSA, to bring a TPUSA Club America chapter to every high school in the state of Montana. Wonderful news. Thus needs to happen in the state of California.
I will not watch TPUSA’s Halftime Show– as it is all rock “music,” or I guess, country-rock “music.” I only liked a tuneful, popular country song, gospel song (or a Black spiritual), sung well, by polished stars of the 1950s, ’60s and early ’70s— with ladies in pretty dresses, and gentlemen in suits– accompanied by a good pianist, organist, orchestra, or stage band. That’s all. Anyway, I know that TPUSA is good at other things. Hope they will be very successful in reaching young people for Christ! And to turn America back to God, traditional Marriage and Family, and Christian Morality, from coast-to-coast.
Country music pop stars of the 1950s to early 1970s, always dressed nicely, some with iconic outfits. All of the performers looked clean-cut and nice, on TV. They never looked like disheveled, dirty, sleazy, dope-addicted, unshaven (for men) rock “music” derelicts from the gutter. And their songs were sung well, in their style, with a good musical accompaniment. No loud, ugly noise of electronic rock “music,” no sickening, loud, flashing disco lights to hurt your eyes, no gimmicks. Just a nice stage scene, with the focus on the entertainer and their songs. TPUSA should help clean-up the sleaze of some of today’s country music stars. Have them sing something like “God Bless America,” and American gospel songs and spirituals, in addition to their own songs.
The headline reads like clickbait. There is a big difference between quoting and stealing. The pope quoted Mother Theresa by name. The editor should be told not to exaggerate to attract readers. I expect better from California Catholic Daily.
