Dear Pro-life friends,
Because certain people are trying to block the efforts of sidewalk counselors to save mothers and babies from the horrors of abortion, we are keeping the dates, times, and locations of where we are counseling confidential. The notes below may come from one or more locations during the week. Some specifics have been omitted to protect the identity of people we counsel.
A third baby saved this month, in the third week of July, 2018
The counselor decided to arrive a bit early, well before the doors of the abortion center opened. As fate would have it, so did a young couple in their mid-20’s, just seconds before the counselor. After the couple tried the front door, they came walking back and the counselor walked up just in time to greet them and tell them the clinic won’t open for another half-hour. As they were walking toward the counselor, a pink baby blanket draped over the dad’s shoulder revealed a small baby, a relatively common sign that the timing for another baby was why they were here.
The counselor started telling them about the risks and side effects of having an abortion, and stopped mid-sentence while looking at the baby, and blurted out “What a beautiful baby! How old? ” The proud dad said 6 months, as he held the baby up so the counselor could see. The care with which he held the baby showed how much he treasured his precious daughter. The counselor pointed out to the mom what a baby looks like at 6 weeks in the womb. The mom was shuffling through the four items the counselor handed her, opening the foldout showing the various stages of development of the baby.
The counselor talked with them for a few minutes, and then they said there were going to go for a walk and talk it over. The counselor offered her a pink or blue Rosary. She took a pink one and the walked away while the counselor told them to pray about this, and we would be praying for them.
A second counselor arrived, and both were busy engaging couples as they walked up to the entrance. Some would talk for a while, others just took the information. One woman tossed it back at the counselor.
About a half hour later, the first couple came walking up and the counselor walked out to meet them. He asked if they had time to talk this over. The dad said, “Yes, we thought we were just going to go in… but you gave us something to think about”. The counselor continued to talk with them about the resources available to them at the various pregnancy resource centers, including free pre-natal care. After a few minutes, the dad shook hands with the counselor and said they needed to go in and have her checked out. After repeating that they could get the same services for free elsewhere, they went in while the counselor said we will be praying for them.
About 20 minutes later they came out. The counselor asked them if they were leaving. The dad said “Yes”, while the woman wiped away a tear. “Did you make the right choice?”. They both nodded yes, and the dad said, “We did.” The dad put his arm around her as she became emotional while they walked to their car. A minute later they both smiled and waved as they drove away, while she wiped more tears from the side of her face.
Please pray for this couple that they stay strong in their decision to keep their gift from God.
