Future announced speakers include Cardinal William Levada, Archbishop George Niederauer, Rev. Gladstone Stevens, and Msgr. Harry Schlitt.
This promises to be a complete and utter disaster. Look at the “future” speakers — Zombie Liberal City comin’ at ya.
An additional question or two: (1) why does the Diocese need a “new Diocesan School for Pastoral Ministry”? (2) what will such a school do?; (3) why have a non-ordained person “head” this “school”?; and (4) why not put Diocese talent and treasure into educating its people about the True Catholic Faith and the Traditional sacraments (spending some money, as well, to educate more parish priests to say the TLM)? Ridiculous waste.
Could it possibly be a female has the requisite academic credentials and professional experience to qualify for the job? Judging from that awful picture, she probably has time experience.
Mikem, first, did you look up the qualifications of the speaker? Do you know that she has a PhD and has taught at the seminary for years? She is perfectly qualified to glve this presentation. Your comment about her picture is about as un-Christian as one can get. You owe her an apology. Why does the Diocese need a new school, St. C? Because all schools need upgrading every year. The Diocese is putting its talent and treasure into educating the people who will teach the faith and help manage parishes. You have shown by your comments that you have not concept of what it takes to run a parish, much less a diocese.
Dr. Turek is intelligent, orthodox, and a person of deep faith. Archbishop Levada bringing her to St. Patrick’s Seminary was one of the best things he did while in SF. Bishop Barber, a seminary faculty colleague, was smart to bring her to Oakland to ensure his lay formation institute was going on the right track. I would think this would be a lecture worth going to.
