With nearly all U.S. House and Senate races decided, Congress will be sharply divided the next two years—possibly undermining the viability of extreme pro-abortion policies.
A Senate majority will hinge upon two Jan. 5 runoff elections in Georgia. Republicans would only need one of these seats to keep the Senate, but if Democrats sweep both races then they would effectively hold a majority in the chamber, with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris being a tiebreaker in a 50-50 vote scenario.
The pro-life Susan B. Anthony List and its partner Women Speak Out PAC are “all-in” for the two Republicans Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, spending more than $4 million in the two races and aiming to reach 1 million voters before election day.
However, even if the Democrats sweep in Georgia, their narrow majorities would be more tenuous than anticipated—and could mean the abandonment of some of the more extreme goals that had been suggested ahead of the election.
Two changes that Senate Democrats flirted with before the election—abolishing the filibuster and adding justices to the Supreme Court—are possibly dead.
Both measures could have imperiled pro-life hopes, as pro-abortion bills would only need 51 votes to pass the chamber if the filibuster were abolished, and an expanded Supreme Court could further thwart any state attempts to restrict abortions.
“I do think that court-packing is dead for the foreseeable future,” Rammesh Ponnuru, senior editor at National Review, told EWTN Pro-Life Weekly on Nov. 5. “They [Democrats] are going to have a razor-thin [Senate] majority, they’re probably not going to even have that.”

Thankful for President Trump’s four years of pro-life leadership! Patiently waiting for the true and fair election results to show he has been re-elected to another MAGA term. God Bless our most beloved President, still fighting for us as evil forces try to steal his, and our, big win!
The House has a lot of “liberals” but that doesn’t matter because a Bill cannot become a law without the Senate’s agreement and the President’s signature. Each state gets two Senators. That means that 20 Senators represent the 50% of that live in large urban areas and on the coasts. The other 80 Senators represent the 50% and live in the smaller states in the South and the Mid-West. Mitch still has about 400 Bills on his desk passed by the last House session that he refuses to bring to a vote. So long as Mitch is the Majority Leader, there will be no new law to outlaw abortion. Elections matter.
Bob, both our CA senators are huge libs, and yes, it matters. They do not represent my political views and neither have any respect for Catholics, in fact they are openly hostile to our faith.
Liberal Catholics like you should be wary of the nasty beasts you voted for. You won’t escape their evil plots either.
FHU, you are correct. The two Senators from California are very liberal, and both have exhibited a dislike for the teachings of the Catholic Church. Paragraph one is true and I agree.
Paragraph two is in error. First of all, I admit to being a bit to the left of center but not enough to be called a liberal and second you are simply assuming whom I would vote for. So you are wrong on both counts.
Given your Catholic conscience, who did you vote for?
A question you should never ask.
A question that should be asked of those who claim to be Catholic in word but not deed.
Etiquette doesn’t change because you want to know something that is not your business.
It’s all anonymous so don’t get sanctimonious, let people own their votes.
In order to get information that you are not entitled to, you are going to act as if it is an act of virtue to give in to your nosiness. And belittle the person who reminds you that you have behaved poorly.
This is the upside down value system that is taking over our country.
Nothing but speculation in this ‘news’ story.
I am sorry but the result of this election simply tells me we have lost our country.
Robert Zimnerman– lost our country?? We just have to work harder, and pray harder, with God at our side! The battle is not over yet! Our Founding Fathers had a much more mature concept of “freedom” for their new country, than the ignorant, lawless, narcissistic, immature, extremely self-gratifying, low-class “hippie” leftist anarchist misfits, of today. Misfits should never be placed in any kind of roles, large or small, of power, leadership and responsibility! Our Founding Fathers were very mature, and their lives were governed by Christian Biblical morality, with self-responsbility, and responsibilities to God, family, and the local areas they had political leadership for, as statesmen in their emerging new Nation. Even those who may have committed sins, (let’s say, womanizing, etc.) would call such wrongful deeds “sins,” not any other false “hippie”-type of name– and would teach their kids to live by only Biblical standards of morality.
Robert, I think it a good practice to form our opinions on facts whenever possible. The President lost the election by tens of millions of votes nationwide and by about a hundred in the Electoral College. In that same election, the Democrats lost seats in the House and have not yet won a majority in the Senate, in spite of polls that predicted the opposite. I come to the conclusion that people did not vote against the conservative policies of the President as much as they voted against the President himself. There is widespread evidence that people split their votes. I think they save the country and our democracy. The vote for Biden doesn’t mean he will be able to get his program through the House and Senate, so conservative ideals are protected. In all fifty states and all territories, the election commissions have certified that there was no voter fraud of any consequence if any, and none that would change the results. This whole charade about bad vote-counting is about keeping his name in front of people to build up an audience for his new broadcast media and to keep front of mind for 2024.
6,000,000 loss in popular vote. 150,000 votes in 3 states, he would have won. So he did not lose by tens of millions of votes. Every state has voter fraud. They expect it. That is why they have poll watchers and verify signatures and use other safeguards. There are recounts when voting is close. It appears that there were a lot of problems this year. They need to get to the bottom of it all even if the results will not change.
The results aren’t in yet. Patience RZ.
Robert,
Why do think the election means that our country is lost? While I don’t think Trump will succeed in his lawsuits, there are indications that he lost by narrow margins due to election fraud.
There was also a strong conservative undertow in the past election. If Trump lost the election legitimately, it was because of his personality — not his conservative views.
