The following comes from a Dec. 17 email sent to Cal Catholic by a reader from Pomona.

Please read the attached document from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

This latest attempt to ‘recast’ and redefine the evil of Roe v. Wade and to dissuade the faithful from holding pro-abortion lawmakers accountable is but another example of a great evil and moral relativism masquerading as Catholic doctrine.

The pretense is that ‘One Life’ LA is a gathering of all pro-life individuals in Southern California. The accompanying document shows it is in fact a ‘wholly-controlled’ superimposition on a group, a deliberate instruction to “change the subject” regarding the government’s sponsorship of abortion killing centers in every California community.

P.S. I strongly recommend that any pro-life individuals look to California ProLife Council, a non-sectarian organization for where candidates stand on Life, or to any of a number of Protestant publications or organizations, as many of these still do see the real significance of Roe when it comes to the law.

From the OneLife LA invitation:

On January 17, 2015, thousands of pro-life supporters will gather in Downtown Los Angeles for OneLife LA. OneLife LA is the first-ever, large-scale event in Southern California that unites communities and inspires positive action promoting the beauty and dignity of all human life from conception to natural death. OneLife LA will begin with a walk from the birthplace of the City of Los Angeles, La Placita Olvera, to Grand Park for a day of entertainment, food, and most importantly inspirational testimonies. We are working together with several religious and community organizations from Fresno to San Diego to address the overall devaluing of life across our culture and inspire action on all fronts be it human trafficking, abortion, suicide, capital punishment, euthanasia, homelessness and so much more. As one of the sponsors of OneLife LA, we at the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, believe every single life is immeasurably valuable, and each person, coming together as one, can make a difference.

This is where you come in. We want to highlight the important life-affirming work of your organization while providing participants a unique opportunity to take action for life, not only on the day of the event, but throughout the year. Let’s work together to educate and inspire attendees as well as provide concrete opportunities to be involved in your cause!

We consider you to be an organization on the cutting edge of culture transformation, and therefore would like to invite you to apply to be a community partner. OneLife LA in 2015. Here’s the catch: we have limited openings, and rather than give them out on a first-come, first-serve basis, we would like to partner with the organizations most dedicated to the mission of this event.

What We Are Looking For:

Service Project – Must present at least one direct service project that individuals or groups can participate in. Cannot be a fundraising project. Present us with a game plan for your booth. Tell us what you’ll have on display and provide a clear plan for engaging attendees to be involved with your service project.
