The 2023 Walk for Life West Coast Mass will feature something special: a newly-composed choral setting of the Mass, written to showcase the clear voices of the St. Brigid School Choir, following in the tradition of Gregorian chant but with a contemporary and Renaissance flair.
The Mass will be sung in English, Spanish and Latin.
Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone commissioned the Mass from composer Christopher Mueller, former free-lance jazz musician, now longtime church choirmaster and music director.
“The Archbishop wanted a Mass specifically to celebrate the gift of human life,” said Mueller, a married father of three. Because it is a Mass for Life, the Archbishop also wanted the music of the Mass be written for the choir program at St. Brigid School. “He wanted a pro-life Mass to be written for children’s voices, to heighten the emotionality of the liturgy for those in attendance.”
“How powerful it is for people to pray a Mass with beautiful music,” said Mueller, “It has the power to lift up people’s hearts and minds; to give them a sense of something that is transcendent and prayerful.”

I am sure this Mass will be just beautiful. The St. Brigid Honor Choir is very good. Additionally– I have long wondered, if a good church music composer could write a beautiful, stirring hymn to Pro Life, that could become very popular and very famous– a very beautiful, singable hymn for a congregation, with beautiful choral arrangements, also. Something beautiful, singable, stirring, uplifting, and unforgettable– like Beethoven’s famous “Ode to Joy.” A wonderful “Hymn to Life,” a banner-song for the Pro Life movement. Maybe someday, that will happen.
What’s wrong with “Let There Be Peace On Earth”? Everyone already knows it.
Well, that’s nice– but it is a song for peace on earth — not a Pro Life hymn.
Google Pro Life Hymn and see if you like any of the ones already written.
On the positive side– the extreme Pro Abortion politician, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, will no longer be Speaker of the House, in Jan. 2023. The Republicans now will be in the majority, in the House– and will choose a new Speaker, in January. Hopefully, the new Speaker will be Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R) Calif. McCarthy is a Baptist, and is Pro Life. He has said that he is “proud to be a Christian.” There is something to hope for, in the future, for America, and for all unborn children!
Rep. McCarthy is a conservative Republican, and a strong Christian– and has spoken about the wrongful persecution of Christians in America. He is Pro Life, and against same sex marriage, and voted against the “(Dis)Respect for Marriage Act.” McCarthy is not an extreme right-wing Republican, and strongly disapproved of the Jan. 6th uprising. Many far-right MAGA supporters view McCarthy as a “RINO” due to this. However, former President Trump solidly endorsed him, with glowing words– unusual, for Trump. Hopefully, if McCarthy becomes Speaker of the House, it will be a hope for Traditional Christian Marriage, unborn children, and good, traditional Christian Family Values– for a better America, pulled away from Satan’s jaws, closer to God. A hope for the Culture of Life. Rep. Nancy Pelosi and her extremely destructive, sinful Denocrat regime, have done terrible damage to our country, leading America to Satan’s horrifically evil Death Culture.
McCarthy is weak and will RINO when the going gets tough. Go ahead and pray for him to grow a backbone.
Unfortunately, the Republican Party already has many who are RINOs, and lack backbone and Christian principles– there are now RINOs who vote with the Democrats. It has been said that the Republican Party is very weak and shaky, and in need of an overhaul, and better leadership– and a strong Party Platform that stands firmly for Pro Life and Pro Christian Marriage, and solid Christian Morality and Family Values, as well as respect for Christianity and Religious Rights. Hopefully, there will be a chance for improvement, after the end of the Pelosi regime.
When is this scheduled in 2023–I want to put it on my calendar and not miss it.
The Walk for Life West Coast each year is the Saturday closest to the anniversary of the now-overturned Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion. The Walk for Life Mass, to be celebrated by Archbishop Cordileone, is at 9:30 a.m., Jan. 21, 2023, at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption.
I’m happy with the Republican majority (although very slight) but not happy with RINO McCarthy as Speaker.
This event isn’t necessary anymore because Roe has been overturned. If this continues, it’s all about the money that organizers don’t want to lose each year.
Just like Democrats will never stop saying America is racist because they gain advantage and profit by doing so, pro-lifers will never stop holding pro-life events and asking for donations.
Is Buck v Bell still on the books? Griswold v Connecticut? Obergefell v Hodges?
There is no money involved in the annual SF Walk for Life. You are totally misinformed. It consists of mainly Catholic high school and college students, deeply devoted to pro life. Many of them are too young to vote. They have a few priests and the Archbishop of SF to help. A very noble endeavor. You should come and join.
“isn’t necessary anymore ” ??? Earth to ‘More of the same/
The Court returned the abortion rights issue to the states
Gov Newsome declared California as an abortion sanctuary
for all states. and peoples
Proposition 1 ( right to abortion) was passed by California this month
No gestation month limit on abortion now
UCSF and Planned Parenthood are involved in fetal tissue and organ utilization
Then march in California. It’s not a national issue anymore. That’s his point.
You don’t understand. SCOTUS overturned the Roe vs. Wade decision— and returned the power to make abortion laws to the states. Got that? Abortion is a very serious national issue and a global issue. California voters passed Prop. 1 on Nov. 8th, thus enshrining abortion as a so-called “reproductive right” for women– with no restrictions at all– even up to a child’s birth. This is very evil and unthinkable. It is child murder. Now, that’s the point.
Abortion is legal in 37 states.
