The following comes from a Mar. 9 email from Dan Zeidler of Family Life Council.
Dear friends, Our experience through the first 3 days of our Post-Abortion Awareness efforts has proven what we expected, i.e., the response to the brief New Hope video would be very positive. The expression, “A picture is worth a thousand words … and a good video much more” is the case….
On this Day 4 (with one more day to go) of these Post-Abortion Awareness efforts, we are recommending you consider promoting another image, the photo of the post-abortion sculpture by Martin Hudáček of Slovakia.
As an art student, Martin Hudáček of Slovakia was moved to create a sculpture to draw attention to the devastation abortion can bring to the woman, and that through the Love and Mercy of God, reconciliation and healing are possible. The sculpture shows a woman in great sorrow grieving her abortion. The second figure in the work is the aborted child, presented as a young child, who in a very touching, healing way, comes to the mother, to offer forgiveness. Martin, who named the work Memorial for Unborn Children, said the sculpture also “expresses hope which is given to believers by the One who died on the cross for us, and showed how much He cares about all of us.”
Julie Thomas of Atlanta, who has personally experienced abortion and is now active with the Operation Outcry post-abortion program, commented, “I love that the little girl is not a baby – we often talk about that during our Bible study and for some reason a lot of us believe that when we get to Heaven that our children will be a toddler as the child is here. I also like the child being ‘transparent’ almost angel-like in appearance. The mother appears to be in anguish, which is so very real. I love that the child is reaching out to touch the mother’s head. I can imagine the mother sensing the touch and believe that she will stand up, taller than before. I believe that this image is very strong and touching, possibly leading to the first step of healing for the mother who has aborted her children.”

Powerful, very strong. This is worthy of major media attention. However, we are beset by weak men as bishops, who are not really very concerned with abortion. Look at the enormity of the crime against God. Abortion, coupled with homosexual sex, are sins that out-evil even the Ha-Shoah, if such a comparison among evils is possible. These sins turn around the gifts of life, and of true marriage, provided to Mankind by God. What is exalted in return for rejecting these gifts? The elevation of sexual freedom, and the substitution of personal pleasures and comfort for divine revelation and command. True charity and love should lead bishops everywhere to lay down their lives now — today — to stop these monstrous practices. But, instead, we have pictures of a cardinal breaking bread with a president lost to soul-ending sin, and no real effort to combat any form of sexual activity. And, why should they? Many are homosexual themselves, or view such relationships with extreme toleration and fondness. How can a truly holy man, that is in the clergy, stand the world as it is, and as it is becoming? What was promised to Abraham: “And the Lord said to him: If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare the whole place for their sake.” (Genesis 18:26) (DRV). Interesting question about the “Fifty Righteous” today.
The second link does not work.
Thank you for this story, the picture and the link to the video.
….wouldn’t be fair to see a sculpture with a baby blessing his father ?
Seems all too sweet for such a brutal act committed by a woman.
