The following comes from an October 17 USCCB press release:
WASHINGTON—The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) will be voting for the chairman-elect of five standing committees at the upcoming annual 2016 General Assembly taking place November 14-16 in Baltimore, Maryland. Each bishop elected will serve for one year as chairman-elect before beginning a three-year term at the conclusion of the bishops’ 2017 Fall General Assembly.
Nominees for Chairman-elect of each committee are as follows:
Committee on Canonical Affairs and Church Governance
Bishop Robert P. Deeley
Bishop David M. Malloy
Committee on Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs
Bishop Joseph C. Bambera
Bishop Michael C. Barber
Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis
Bishop Robert E. Barron
Bishop Frank J. Caggiano
Committee on International Justice and Peace
Bishop Robert W. McElroy
Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio
Committee on Protection of Children and Young People
Bishop Timothy L. Doherty
Bishop Joseph J. Tyson
I hope all the bishops get their positions of honor that are so very important.
Now for a reality check: Assaf, a Syrian Christian woman from a Christian suburb of Damascus (yes: under “evil” Assad, there were many Christians in Syria) tells the horrors of when ISIS invaded in 2015 (also, you-tube link):
https://www.christianpost.com/news/isis-burns-6-men-alive-in-bakery-uses-dough-mixer-to-kill-250-children-171071/
As the title says, ISIS militant Muslims first burned to death 6 [Christian] men in a bakery oven; they killed an estimated 250 [Christian] children by putting them into a dough mixer alive. Her own son, a minor, was tortured and killed because he refused to say his name was “Khaled” [a Muslim name].
…
Fortunately, the Obama administration, and certainly a would-be Clinton administration, has promised to grant priority status and evacuate all Syrian Christians. (Sorry: that is a bitter joke)
But imagine if our fine bishops used all their clout to press either for immediate evacuation of Christians. (Perhaps that is another bitter joke: aint happening)
So, who are the nominees for Chairman-elect of the Committee on Baloney and Malarkey?
Hopefully, Ab. Broglio will be elected to the Committee on International Justice and Peace.

JESUS does not lie. JESUS said that Many will NOT be Saved. Few will be saved. Lk 13:23-28 and Mt 7:13-14.

Bp Barron says we can reasonably hope that ALL men are saved.

Who do you think is telling the truth !
Mike, even if “MANY WILL NOT BE SAVED”, that doesn’t mean that we can’t hope that all will be saved. There is no wrong-headed thinking here. You might want to read the Final Commendation prayers fro the funeral liturgies. All the readings and prayers ask for quick and sure joining with God in heaven,
