The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops today announced the establishment of an Ad Hoc Committee Against Racism. Initiated by Cardinal Daniel N. DiNardo of Galveston-Houston, President of the USCCB, the committee will focus on addressing the sin of racism in our society, and even in our Church, and the urgent need to come together as a society to find solutions.
“Recent events have exposed the extent to which the sin of racism continues to afflict our nation. The establishment of this new ad hoc committee will be wholly dedicated to engaging the Church and our society to work together in unity to challenge the sin of racism, to listen to persons who are suffering under this sin, and to come together in the love of Christ to know one another as brothers and sisters,” says Cardinal DiNardo.
Bishop George V. Murry, SJ of Youngstown, Ohio has been appointed by Cardinal DiNardo as Chairman of the committee. The membership of the committee will be finalized in the coming days and its mandate will be confirmed at the first meeting, expected very shortly.

Oh, great: a committee. That will solve nothing. It just gives the appearance of doing something.
All these bishops rushing to speak out against racism suddenly when they didn’t speak out and form committees as Furgeson and other cities were looted and burned to the ground and police officers were being assassinated. They didn’t go on TV to denounce the Supreme Court’s irrational ruling that forced gay marriage on the states.
White racism is not anywhere near as big a problem or concern in this country as the media and now the bishops would have people think. It’s being made to seem like a big problem because it serves the Left’s agenda to have people believe that.
Well, first of all, the Bishops did speak out about the SCOTUS decision on same sex marriage and they had already formed a committee to confront the possibility. How that is relevant here is unknown to me, however.
You may have an opinion about the level of “white racism” in our country – after all there is no absolute measure of such a thing. But do you really want to associate yourself with neo-Nazis, KKK, and white nationalists? Why not agree with the Bishops and stand against such hatred, regardless if they are 10 people, 10,000 people, or 10 million people?
YFC writes, “Well, first of all, the Bishops did speak out about the SCOTUS decision on same sex marriage and they had already formed a committee to confront the possibility.) = IOW, Let me see how dumbed down the readers are. YFC was in favor of shipping the Christian home school family back to Germany for arrest.
“Formed a committee to confront the possibility???” That is a joke coming from someone who not only pushes the homosexual agenda as a front to jump on the bandwagon for every leftist cause. The bottom line IS, if bishops had guarded and upheld all of the Teachings of the Church, they would not have to pretend to be forming bogus committees that accomplish the opposite of what the Church actually teaches.
You are a fool YFC, if you believe that the events in Charlottesville, and Boston and elsewhere were not planned by the Left. Why would the Left care about the Confederate monuments, except that it gives them a chance to practice on the Big Boys of Washington and Jefferson, and perhaps getting the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem out of the way, too.
Of course, the history of the KKK and other nationalist groups is studded with the names of prior Democratic Party leaders. Slavery, and Jim Crow, and resistance to integration are all hallmarks of the Democratic Party. Our bishops simply salivate at anything that smacks of leftist politics, especially if they are getting money from them.
Covfefe, you need to get around a bit more if you think racism isn’t a big problem. Ask some African-Americans for their opinion. Ask yourself this question: if you voted for Trump last year, would you vote for him again, after all he has done to normalize white supremacy in the last couple of weeks? For that reason alone, “yes” is the wrong answer. His beliefs about race are not American values.
The mentality displayed by Bob O. shows that the “racism, racism, racism, racism”-meme is essential for claiming moral authority/political power, yet has zero to do with unifying the country or bettering race relations. Purpose: destroy the opposition.
If race relations were to improve, Nancy Pelosi, Al Sharptongue, Kamala Harris at al. are politically speaking stranded on Devil’s Island.
The only route back to power-power-power is to freeze-and-demonize, cut off the leader from his support base, and agitate everyone into a frenzy. (Familiar? Alinsky, “Rules for Rads”)
Bob One, Sadly, it is very obvious that YOU are the individual who needs to “get around a bit more.” IOW a total conversion! How very transparent of you to keep fanning the flames of everything that undermines solid Church Teaching. Saul Alinsky would have approved the slippery methods you choose when using some of his rules to aid and abet leftist causes. Saul, would then scold you and tell you that YOU need to “change it up a bit” because many Catholics can see right through your divisive efforts. Instead of asking Covfefe to ask some African-American for their opinion, why don’t you ask God why you’ve chosen to follow the ill-fated example of someone who dedicated their book to Lucifer instead of following Christ.
I URGE ALL THE BISHOPS TO SATURATE THE FAKE NEWS MEDIA WITH PEOPLE LIKE ALVEDA KING, REV HOYE AND REV CHILDRESS AND LET THESE WONDERFUL HOLY MEN AND WOMAN TELL THE WORLD ABOUT THE REAL RACISM THAT IS GOING ON WITH ABORTION. MORE AFRICAN-AMERICAN BABIES ARE ABORTED THAN ANY OTHER GROUP! THIS A REAL GENOCIDE!!!!!!
BLACK LIVES MATTER, WHETHER IN THE WOMB OR OUT!!!
If you’re a Jesuit-cum-Alinsky porch flunky, you rub raw the sores of discontent. It’s what you do. If you want to save 15% or more on car insurance you switch to . . . . It’s what you do.
CHINO Nancy is a true two faced Hypocrite, and neither of them are pretty
Nancy Pelosi’s father helped dedicate Confederate monumen
thttps://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/08/24/nancy-pelosis-father-helped-dedicate-confederate-monument.html
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has ramped up calls to remove “reprehensible” Confederate statues from the halls of Congress — but left unsaid in her public denunciations is that her father helped dedicate such a statue decades ago while mayor of Baltimore.
It was May 2, 1948, when, according to a Baltimore Sun article from that day, “3,000” looked on as then-Governor William Preston Lane Jr. and Pelosi’s father, the late Thomas D’Alesandro Jr., spoke at the dedication of a monument to…
Nancy Pelosi’s father helped dedicate Confederate monumen
By Brooke Singman Published 8, 24, 2017
Pelosi’s father, the late Thomas D’Alesandro Jr., spoke at the dedication of a monument to honor Confederate generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson.
What does Pelosi’s father have anything to do with anything? He isn’t even alive now!
Would you like me to dredge up the KKK routes of Drumpf’s father? While a young but adult Donnie looked on?
False narrative has been discredited.
Even snopes.com, a very left-leaning website discredits this report about Donald Trump’s father being part of a KKK March. In fact at least 30,000 people attended a 1927 Memorial Day Parade, where the KKK started a riot against the police.
Many people were caught up in the arrest dragnet afterwards. However, Trump Sr.was not even cited and was immediately discharged, so he could not have been part of the KKK nor the rioters.
But who cares about the truth, let’s just lie.
YFC proven wrong again… 2 scoops, 2 genders, 2 terms deal with it…
Interesting that there is always negativity from the same people regarding the actions of Pope Francis or the Bishops. Let’s pray for the Pope and Bishops and support them. Racism is a problem in our country!
Michael McDermott: with regards to Nancy Pelosis’s father: so what? This little tidbit has nothing to do with the article.
Simple: “You didn’t denounce Pelosi’s father’s approval of ‘racist memorials’ fast enough, so you must be pro-racist, too, George.”
Get the narrative down, George. Or you could be a racist.
So, George is a racist. Thanks for exposing him Anon 2. Now CNN can report that “George is a racist” referencing anonymous sources.
Indeed Racism is a problem in our country (and it is not just a Caucasian one) – and the Use of Racism as a tool to stir up violent hateful actions (As Pelosi gaily does) plays in to that dynamic, and poisons the well for rational discussion
I particularly appreciated the ‘anti-whatever’ scam that saw an Asian American sports announcer who was removed from broadcasting a game – because his name (shudder) was Robert Lee.
This mindset is the type of disgrace that CHINO Nancy and klan empower.
Pray for courageous bishops to responsibly address their own accountable sins of spiritual neglect. Spiritual neglect enables all types of sinfulness, not just racism. Whatever the particular sin is, it is a symptom of a void or lack of understanding God and what God teaches through His Church. Since we know that Communist influence has entered into the Church, (listen to Bella Dodd’s words testifying before the Senate on You Tube) the faithful are left with two choices when bishops become political animals instead of faithful Catholic leaders. Communist enablers are either what Saul Alinsky termed as dumbed down “useful idiots” OR they are actively playing roles to dismantle America from within, including the Church. “My people…
Christ said, “My people perish for lack of knowledge.” = Communism is banking on this!

If ever there were a competition for the most cynical remark ever made, I think François Mitterand’s at the beginning of genocide in Rwanda would stand a fair chance of winning. ‘In those countries down there,’ he is said to have said, ‘a genocide isn’t too important –

1972 called; they want their jive turkey back.
I think that racism is an issue that runs tragically very deep– and in our country, I think that many people really cannot truthfully face this painful and embarrassing subject, and deal with it realistically and effectively, in real life situations. Racism is a painful and embarrassing subject, often shoved under the rug— and even denied at times!– by both Whites and Blacks! Perhaps it takes centuries of indoctrinating a group of people in virtues of “color-blinded,” unselfish kindness, acceptance, care, sensitivity, and non-discrimination to their fellowman, in order to help with this difficult issue.
