Three Southern California school board members backed by a far-right pastor narrowly won election last fall in campaigns fueled by pandemic rage.
Then they banned critical race theory and rejected social studies materials that included LGBTQ rights hero Harvey Milk.
Now, they’re fighting for their political lives.
After just six months in office, those officials face a recall effort on top of a civil rights investigation launched by the state’s Democratic-led education department. Students have held protests, and irate parents and teachers are swarming the board’s meetings, feeling that their town — the fast-growing, politically diverse suburb of Temecula in Riverside County — has become consumed by partisan warfare….
In Temecula, the political agenda embraced by school board trustees Joseph Komrosky, Danny Gonzalez and Jen Wiersma has set off a different kind of public outrage than was likely intended. The booing and shouting at a recent public hearing grew so loud that the board president — who appeared to be wearing a bullet-proof vest under his sweater — cleared the room.
“To the extent you keep it focused on parents and students first, not teachers, I think there’s room where you can push back on quote-unquote “woke” agenda issues, but if you go too far in the other direction and are trying to make that the only issue you care about, I think you’re going to see predictable backlash,” California GOP consultant Rob Stutzman said in an interview. “I look at something like Temecula, and to me it’s an eye roll….”
But a local GOP leader said he was confident voters would back the officials in a recall….

Are there any “far-left” pastors, like there are supposedly “far-right” pastors? Or is “far” only used to describe “extremists,” who, for Politico and others in the lame-stream media, are conservatives? So, the pastor opposed the closing of churches, mask mandates and pressure get the COVID vaccines and that makes him “far-right,” instead of just right. Harvey Milk is an admitted serial child abuser. To have children not celebrate him is not hateful, unless to be anti-child abuse is hateful. To address revisionist history and CRT is a job of local school boards. They don’t have to adopt that woke ideology in public schools, which, theoretically, are for all children. Why are the “tolerant” leftists shouting and booing at a public meeting? Why won’t they civilly state their opposition to the school board’s action, if they find them objectionable?
One can disagree without being disagreeable.
There’s a delusion among modern Biden liberals that posits that Jim Jones would’ve been a Trump Evangelical if he was alive today. Of course, this is false. He was a friend of Harvey Milk and a literal Soviet Union supporter. The People’s Temple was 1960s Race Marxism. One of the most blatant “far-left pastors” of the past 60 years.
But, the media never identifies anyone as “far left,” only “far right.” Have you ever seen them describe AOC or Bernie as “far left?”
So what did they do wrong?
Why are you using a “news” article from Politico?
If anyone is a Democrat I hate him. I mean it. We should split into two different countries. Democrats have one half, Republicans the other. Our differences are irreconcilable, and Democrats are ruining every state and city that they control. They even ruin the country when they are in charge of the federal government.
You should not hate him or her. Pray for their conversion. Our Lord commands us to love our enemies. We may have to fight, but we don’t have to hate. God can bring about reconciliation. It’s true it seems that “Democrats are ruining every state and city that they control,” yet, Republicans are not Saints. Pray for all. And, work for justice.
The truth is, that Republicans and Democrats agree on about 98% of all issues facing the country. It is the 2% that separates us. If we could mollify the ultra-mega and ultra-progressives we would not have so many things to hate about people and ideas.
Another thing that might help is if we base our likes and dislikes on factual information rather than the agenda-dominated radio and cable stations and newsprint.
One piece of advice that I have found useful, given to me several decades ago: “Don’t believe everything you think.”
“If we could mollify the ultra-mega and ultra-progressives we would not have so many things to hate about people and ideas.” Bob One I am with you on not hating our political foes, but your suggestion here causes me to ask: How do you mollify matters amidst the culture wars raging in this country? On what basis could any mollifying even take place?
“If anyone is a Democrat I hate him. I mean it.”
Jesus: “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven” (MT 5:43-45).
There should be a lot of people praying for jon.
I had a bad case of temecula one time. It lasted for a week that afternoon I was in Fresno.
