Some of the arguments that are used to defend the universally unpopular Motu Proprio Traditiones Custodes include the alleged contempt for authority in the church and online toxicity of Traditionalists online.
Yet, even if that were true, it would not explain why Radical Synodalists are allowed to create their own toxic online environment without reproach.
This week, one of their favourite targets for attacks, Archbishop Salvador Cordileone expressed his sympathies with the Pelosi family after an attack on Nancy Pelosi’s husband.
Anglo Canadian Catholic commentator DW Lafferty has contributed to Ultra Montanist blog Where Peter Is for many years. He appeared to attempt to link the attack on Pelosi’s husband to Archbishop Cordileone’s implementation of church teaching on Communion.
He then made a half hearted effort to walk back his shocking comments, though some of his Synodalist followers were more forthcoming in their accusations against the Archbishop.
A number of other Synodalist accounts also attempted to link the Archbishop to the attack.
They bizarrely accuse the Archbishop of ‘radicalising’ the attacker and of being ‘complicit’.
Only this week, the official account for the Pontifical Academy for Life was accusing ordinary Catholics of ‘muckraking’ for daring to question the appointment of pro abortion atheists.
It appears as though a small cohort of Anglo journalists, dubbed the ‘milquetoast mafia’, are being allowed undue influence over the Vatican, the Synod and its various social media accounts. They are inspiring division, nastiness and condescension more than any Trad outlet is doing and most importantly, they are alienating far more people than they are convincing.
The above comes from an Oct. 30 posting on CatholicArena.com.
Decisions made by those in authority can have the capability of moving unstable, immoral people to violence. The Supreme Court’s Dodd decision prompted violence; imagine if the threats against the Justices were actually carried out. Pro-lifers have been subject to attack as well as pro-life pregnancy centers. Yet who here on this forum would say the overturning of Roe v Wade was therefore a bad thing? Did the Court weaponize abortion? It seems it did. The evil in human hearts cannot be the determining factor in difficult decisions that must be made. Is the Supreme Court complicit in the violence against pro-lifers? By inference, is A. Cordileone responsible for the illegal alien nut-job’s actions? It seems our government is far more responsible for not deporting him back to Canada.
Most likely, the attacker never heard of Archbishop Salvador Cordileone statement on Nancy Pelosi regarding the reception of Holy Communion.
Terrible attack on the Pelosi’s, for sure…interesting all the panic and concern about polarization and political unrest now as opposed to when Supreme Court Justices were under direct threat (and constitute a far greater asset to the American public than Paul Pelosi). Pelosi herself helped block efforts to increase their security surrounding the Dobbs decision. But using disasters to service their narrative is what progressives do…Oh…and they very well may lose both the House and Senate…so, there’s that….
Hmm… now the left is condemning political violence when for months it openly encouraged arson, looting, mayhem and murder as it was committed by antifa and BLM. Back then they called it justifiable outrage, and they told us that we all needed to understand the looters’ and arsonists’ grievances rather than condemn their lawlessness and violence. See how it works for the left?
Oh, and did the left say anything about threats made against Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh? Nope. See how it works on the left?
The guy who attacked Mr. Pelosi isn’t even a MAGA Republican nor a mild conservative. He’s a deranged, hard-core left-winger. But the left is using him to paint a false picture of right-wing violence before next week’s elections. See how it works for the left?
Ask yourself this question:
Can you VOTE your way out of Clown World ???
No, but I can downvote your post.
an attack on Pelosi ???
so they say.
Where did you find THAT website? And why do we care what they write?
If you see the term ultramontist, you know you are in a place that you should not be.
“A guy showed up to Kavanaugh’s house with a gun and a knife, planning to murder him and two other conservative justices. The media treated it like a minor sideshow. Meanwhile this Pelosi story gets days of headline coverage. And we’re not supposed to notice the disparity.”
– Matt Walsh
The less press you get on something like that, the safer you and your family will be.
While a few are blaming Archbishop Cordileone, to be clear, the person who attacked Mr. Pelosi is David DePape.
The Archbishop holds to a Christian position held for millenia and is not responsible for today’s polarization.
As our Lord Jesus teaches us:
“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” (Matthew 5:10-12)
Let us pray for Mr. Pelosi’s recovery and conversion of heart and mind, Archbishop Cordileone and his faithful and courageous witness and for all.
We all know why they won’t release the police bodycam footage from the alleged attack on Paul Pelosi.
The only people I saw attacking the Archbishop for his condemnation of the violence were people here on this site’s comment section.
And what anything any of this has to do with “synodalists”, whoever they are, are likely from people who reject papal authority, Vatican II, and want to divide the Church intonsynodalists and anti-synodalists.
Does everything have to be a critique? Can’t we make the assumption that people act in good faith even if we disagree with them or their approach? Why are we always at the throats of our bishops and Pope and President?
“The only people I saw attacking the Archbishop for his condemnation of the violence were people here on this site’s comment section.” I’m sorry YFC, I read and reread the comments here and found no attack whatsoever of Abp. Cordileone. If you found them, perhaps you could tell me where. I am getting older and quite possibly missing what is before my eyes, and yes, thanks in advance.
Factions are evil. Stay away from anyone who wants to divide the Body of Christ.
