The following comes from a January 7 story in The Hill.
The Supreme Court on Monday scheduled two days of oral arguments over same-sex marriage, putting it on track for a ruling this summer.
The court is set to hear two cases on marriage during a term that also includes cases on affirmative action and the constitutionality of the Voting Rights Act.
The high court will hear arguments on March 26 in a case that challenges California’s Proposition 8, which bars same-sex marriage in the state.
The next day, the court will hear oral arguments on the Defense of Marriage Act — the federal law that defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman and prevents states from extending many government benefits to same-sex couples, even if they are legally married in their state of residence.
The timing of the cases falls close to last year’s oral arguments over President Obama’s healthcare law. And like that case, a ruling is expected to come on the last day of the court’s term, sometime in late June or early July.
Many court observers expect the justices to strike down DOMA, noting that Justice Anthony Kennedy has often voted to expand gay rights, including a case that struck down Texas’s anti-sodomy laws.
California’s marriage amendment, though, is a harder question. It’s not clear that the court would be inclined to rule that there’s a constitutional right to same-sex marriage in every state, and some supporters of same-sex marriage hope the court will stick to a narrow ruling.

Why should we expect the Supreme Court to do anything but fall in line with emperor Obama’s demands? He has repeatedly stated a main objective of his 2nd term is to ensure the ‘rights’ of homosexuals. Not defend the rights of Christians, not even defend religious freedom, but work to force debauchery down our throats. Don’t bother looking to any secular authority to do the right thing.
We must start praying yesterday that the Supreme Court determines Prop 8 and DOMA constitutional. With the news that the National Cathedral (Episcopal) in DC will hold GLBT marriages the pressure increases on the Catholic Church to cave on the issue of disordered marriages.
Lisag,
The more the pressure on the REAL CATHOLIC CHURCH, the greater the opportunity for the REAl CATHOLIC CHURCH to prove to the world that it is the ONE, HOLY, CATHOLIC, AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH! Conversely, the more the Am-Church surrenders to the secular forces the easier it is to identify it as an IMPOSTER!
Georgetown Univ. has already made that point clear.
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
Our prayers are with an outcome that is most pleasing to God! God’s will be done, may God’s people win this spiritual battle in which we find ourselves fighting in these modern times.
The Court has already ruled that sodomites have a constitutionally protected “right” to sodomize each other (Lawrence v. Texas, 539 U.S. 558 (2003)). A “right” to marriage will follow. And, after that, since sodomites are “unfairly denied” the “right” to childbirth, the Court will grant them a “right” to the children of others.
America = Sodom and Gomorrah
As much as I am morally opposed to homosexual couples or individuals adopting children, I am even more opposed to heterosexual couples having sex, popping out children they do not care for, and dumping them on society to raise and care for. I am still more fiercely opposed to people murdering their children, born and unborn. So how to avoid all this idiocy that ruins the lives of living human beings who are completely innocent? Follow the Church’s teachings and remain abstinent outside of marriage! Simple. Who is going to do that? Only Christians!! Moral of the story: share the faith every chance you get! Of course, do this with your words, but also share with bumper stickers (yes, be tacky for God’s sake!), clothing, notes on letters, envelopes, e-mails, etc., wearing a crucifix openly, hanging a rosary on your rear view mirror, praying both before and after meals in public and with friends, and living a life worth admiring and emulating. You never know how many lives you will be saving, and you may be gratified to learn how many souls you are helping to save as well.
