Additional observations St. Therese is a large church devoted to St. Therese of the Little Flower. It is probably the most conservative in the area. It has a 24-hour adoration chapel, strong Respect Life ministry, Legion of Mary and Natural Family Planning classes. Although the nearby Carmelite Sisters of the Sacred Heart Motherhouse has its own chapel, don’t be surprised to see the sisters lined up for confession on Saturdays. And, on Sundays at 1 p.m., Claretian Father Robert Bishop offers a Tridentine Mass with traditional choir. There is also a gift shop which sells religious items next to the vestibule.
I’ve been there for EF Mass and Easter Vigil. Highly recommend as one of the better places for Mass celebrated reverently with good preaching in the Los Angeles area.
At least a good first step: a TLM every SUN at a convenient time.
Next comes education so that all can understand their options.
The present church was completed in 1950, and although the architect (Joseph Earl Trudeau, d. 1990) probably did not have a free hand in designing it (it shares a lot more in line with Monsgr. Benjamin Hawkes verticalistic-sharp-edged aggressively modern preferences), it still has its Trudeau charm.
Trudeau designed some beautiful LA Southland churches, like St Charles Borromeo in N. Hollywood, Blessed Sacrament on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, and St. Augustine’s in Culver City, just to name a few of those that are my favorites.
Also, the California-Arizona Province of the Discalced Carmelites has been favorable to having its men train for the traditional Latin Mass, as well as the ordinary form, as in this situation at St. Therese’s parish in Alhambra.

There is also a “donate-now” tab in the center-right for those interested in doing so.
So if they’re English speaking, they must be ok, eh??
Don’t be so “sensitive” about English speaking comments, Liberals generally read into that as “racist” anything Americans say is either racist, anti-women, homophobic, bigoted, anti-immigrant and so on. Liberals are the ones that are supposed to be all about free speech, inclusiveness, and diversity, however if you don’t agree with them out come the nasty attacks and name calling, such hypocrisy, so get a thicker skin. And yes as St. Chris said how about MORE TLM’s and at a convenient time!!!
Then why did the author use that phrasing? After all, words have meaning.
By the way, San Marino is an incorporated city, not a neighborhood.
Most of those “upscale English speaking” areas have Asians, East Indians and other people of color too living in those homes. At least in California they do in many areas. So what is your point? I live in a working class neighborhood by the way.
You see, that is the problem sir, everything that comes out of our mouths has some sort of “nefarious” meaning, this is beyond silly, LIBERALS see racism under every rock and they are the ones that constantly point out our color, gender, religion, and so on, they are obsessed with it. Conservatives on the other hand don’t even pay attention to these things, we could care less about peoples “ethnicity” or “gender” LIBERALS thrive on pointing this out!!
Regarding English-speaking, because of California’s and the federal government’s failure to prevent illegal immigration from Mexico and because of the failure of the governments and the Church to assimilate people into the American culture, there are unfortunately a large number of areas in California where Spanish is the default language. Balkanization is occurring in the U.S., and the Church is contributing to what will be great suffering when the divisions become more overtly hostile, as is already beginning to happen with blacks towards whites.
The Church ought to stop providing conferences and workshops in any language other than English. It’s already at the point in L.A. that you have to be bilingual if you want to work in…
Why is it a “flaw” for Catholics in America to want to hear mass in their own language—English–and spoken by a priest who can speak unaccented English so the congregation can understand what he is saying? I’d gladly drive to a parish where I knew I could understand what was being said!
The Latin – English Missal for praying the TLM can be found as an inexpensive booklet from The Coalition of Support of Ecclesia Dei @

Prayers are beautiful. Also the web site has an up-to-date listing of TLM mass times & places around the country for travelers & anyone that may be moving.
I was a little shocked by the phrasing of “liberals”. I think at church we are all one family and politics have no place in the Mass or our Church life. Jesus is all inclusive and it doesn’t matter if you pray in English, Spanish or Latin. Your worship should be in glory to God. I will attend Mass in any language because my soul is communing with Jesus and the Church triumphant, as it should be. God bless you.
