No promotion of this event at Archbishop Mitty High School.
Certainly not as long as they have their abortion-promoting president.
Since it’s the only diocesan high school, how can local Catholics give to the bishop’s diocesan appeal in good conscience?
Let’s subsidize baby killing and gender confusion?
What would someone in that diocese have to do to be considered not in good standing and/or scandalous?
I saw on video that Bishop Cantu was at the Mass at St. Dominics and had a prominent role. Why can he not exercise leadership and get control over his own diocese and his own schools?
Mary and Her Child love her.
She may not have the same level of understanding that you have.
Pray for her.
Today, Marin Catholic High School is having an all-school Mass for Life.
Thank you Marin Catholic and Archbishop Cordileone.
It’s easy to be prolife when you’re rich.
“It’s easy to be prolife when you’re rich.” In today’s cancel culture dedicated to honoring pride and concupiscence, I don’t think being prolife is easy, rich or poor.
Try it when your poor, because there’s probably more ‘poor’ pro-lifers than ‘rich’….but easy never had anything to do with it anyway…
Some wealthy Catholic– or Protestant– dedicated Christians can comfortably live quietly apart from the filthy, decadent Death Culture, and worship God, and do good, charitable works. But often, it is hard for rich. spoiled, selfish people to respect life– they fall to temptations easily, because sin is readily available to them, through filthy money. That is the case with many Democrats who are wealthy.
It is easy to be prolife at any income level.
Everyone should be unconditionally prolife.
Human life is sacred.
When I was growing up (in the “dinosaur” age) Christian Morality was absolute, in America. And Catholic teaching was absolute. It provided a very strong framework to build a good country on, and to build a good life on, for each person. Judeo-Christian Morality is Biblically-based, and comes from God. About 80% of Americans were married, raising families, and belonged to a church (or synagogue), and went each week. Public schools were permeated with Judeo-Christian beliefs in God and morality. When I was in high school (I attended a public high school in a rural area) I had a friend, very pretty, with a beautiful soprano voice. She was from a family with four pretty, talented and successful daughters. Her family belonged to a Protestant church. We sang in an award-winning choir, at school, and she was chosen as the lead for several musicals. When she was 16, she fell in love with a nice boy who wanted to become an Air Force pilot. They planned to marry after graduation. This girl had an older sister, also very pretty and talented, who made a mistake, in high school, and got pregnant. She was sent to a maternity home, as was usual in those days, and gave up the baby for adoption. My friend was deeply affected by that incident. She always said, that she vowed to never repeat her older sister’s mistake. She hoped others would never make that mistake, either. All went well for her, and she had a lovely wedding, after graduation. In those days, most young people found spouses and got married, in their late teens and early twenties. College was not always necessary, at that time. High schools were much better, and academic standards were much higher. Young people found jobs, got married and settled down, had families, saved and bought homes, and led good, decent, responsible lives– and were good, responsible church-goers, too. This is what is so needed in our country, today.
Yes, my friend, and the cause of America’s downfall has been the mental disorder and social cancer of liberalism. The cure is to eradicate the liberals and their allies, the Democrat Party, from every institution, every school, every business, and every dark corner of the country.
You think the days where pregnant girls had to hide in a maternity home and were forced to give their children up for adoption were the good old days?
Maternity homes of long ago, were decent, good, safe places for young, unwed pregnant girls to go– instead of the horrific, evil abortion clinics we have had, since 1973’s Roe vs. Wade decision– causing a great many unwed pregnant girls to kill–abort– their babies, which is also dangerous– some unwed mothers had complications, and even died. Many were emotionally and physically wounded and scarred, with no help, no support. Many of the maternity homes of long ago, were run by churches, Catholic and Protestant, and helped the girls change their lives, after having their babies, and learn good skills, and complete their educations and lead decent, successful lives after that. Yes, adoption is a wonderful option, the best option in most cases, for these situations. Some unwed young mothers also kept their babies and were able to raise them– but that was a difficult choice. We have maternity homes today, too, with pro-life pregnancy and childbirth centers, where mothers-to-be can safely stay until they deliver their babies, and learn valuable skills to change their lives– finish their education, get job skills, fix the problems in their lives, and be successful mothers, or else give up their babies for adoption. All abortion clinics should be replaced by good, safe maternity homes for unwed mothers, with all of their needs taken care of. Our taxpayer dollars should go completely to these services– and abortion should be outlawed, and unthinkable, as it used to be. We also need massive education in America, in maturity, responsibility and Judeo-Christian Morality, and self-control, respect, and chastity for all who are dating, and not married. Motherhood and children should be held in high esteem, as it used to be, in our country. Marriage and Motherhood were rightly considered sacred, long ago, when I was young. And abortion — which was against the law– was unthinkable– a horrifying thing, a terrible mortal sin. Morality is of God, and is unchanging, eternal. It is the same as when Adam and Eve disobeyed God, and got expelled from the Garden of Eden. The same, as when Moses went up to Mt. Sinai, and was given the Ten Commandments by God, in the 14th-13th centuries, B.C. The same, as when Jesus walked the earth, preaching, teaching and healing people. The Holy Bible tells us all!
What about His Nesting Place in Long Beach?
Is that a maternity home run by a Protestamt church? What a cute name! That is what America should support, with our tax dollars. Not abortion clinics. A long time ago, when I was young, unwed mothers went to church-run maternity homes. And that should be their only option today, if they are in need– not abortion clinics! Church-run maternity homes can provide Christ-like love and support for the mothers and babies. Just like the work of St. Mother Teresa of Kolkata and her Missionaries of Charity.
When I was six years old, my mother sat me down, and told me all about adoption, and that the children who were in our best friends’ family were adopted the day they were born, from a wonderful church-related agency. For some reason, the parents of those children had decided that at age six, their kids would be old enough to start explaining that they were adopted– and lovved very much. And that there is no difference between natural-born and adopted children. So, my mother and all the other mothers in the neighborhood had the same talk with their kids, when the mother of the adopted kids had her talk. We were all in the same age group. That way, we all would have the same information. There would be no terrible surprises, later, no confusion, and no hurt feelings, we all would simply grow up understanding about adoption– and that it is all the same, you are deeply loved, no matter what. Your mother is your mother, whether you are adopted or not. It makes no difference. Well, all of us kids talked about babies,
after that– and we all thought the same thing– that babies grew in our mommies’ tummies– but really, all babies come from the grocery store, and that’s where the mommies get the babies, and bring them home. Adoption, whatever it was, made no difference. We all came from the same place, and we all were deeply loved by our parents. And God loves all the little children! (That’s pretty funny!) Adoption was a wonderful blessing, for both these children and the parents, who were unable, sadly, to have children. A very great blessing! The mother (adoptive mother) was a second-grade teacher, well-loved by everyone.
Are they still alive? Were they every able to contact their biological parents?
And your friend’s sister-was she ever able to find her child?
In that era, adoption cases were closed. That was to allow for the birth mother
to have peace of mind, and for the adoption situation to be final and permanent– and no goofy mess, no instability. A family needs stability for an adopted baby to grow up as their own child. In that day, the family life was very strong and stable, and the kids who I grew up with who were adopted, had no notions about their birth mothers– because it didn’t matter. Your mother was your mother, the mother who raised you. And that’s all. So what, the birth mother? Your mom is your mom, and that is final and permanent. That was the strong belief of our adopted friends, and of everyone, at that time. Nobody ever thought of those kids as “adopted,” either. We were all the same.
Did you talk to them after they became adults and the records became opened?
Kids protect their parents. A good adoptive home is a gift from God but not everybody got that.
You project your childhood friend’s experience onto everyone and it is not reality, I am sorry to say.
There was no interest in their birth mothers, ever.. Adoptions, in that era, were forever closed, over with, and done– permanently.Forever and ever. Permanent. We had strong families back then, strong roles of Mother and Father, and stability, and a good structure in life– with strong Christian ideals, maturity and moraliity.. No need to hurt your mother, your family, and hurt and humiliate the long-ago birth mother, who when a teen-ager, committted a sin– but courageously gave up the child for adoption. Giving up– that means, “forever and ever.” Permanent. Closed. Forget it, forgive it, and move on with life. Finish high school, find a good future– maybe find a good husband to marry, settle down, raise a family.
These kids I grew up with, long ago, are now happy grrandmas and grandpas– with big, happy, successful, traditional families. And they are busy and active in their parish churches, too.
there was a huge stigma to being adopted. Probably trying to minimize that issue why they tell all the kids in the neighborhood the same story.
I had a relative that was adopted and they were never told. They found out when their spouse found out. The spouse was not supposed to tell but you know how that goes. Never told the parents that they found out. Never talked about it with siblings.

There is nothing good and pious about forcing a mother to give away her baby-or in grandparents rejecting their own grandchildren because they were so afraid of their Christian neighbors tongues wagging.
Don’t jump to conclusions. A fourteen or fifteen- year- old girl who becomes pregnant in high school, is far too young to raise a child on her own. You have merely learned foolish stereotypes of such situations. Parents have to help their daughter and give her and the child the best possible future. You are responsible for your pregnant daughter.as her mom and dad. It is usually the best choice, for the baby to be adopted to a good home. People a long time ago did not come in your foolish stereotypes, they all were different. Many were very pragmatic and caring with such difficult family situations, and knew that life has problems, and you just “roll with the
punches,” do the best you can, and move on. Life a long time ago was far more challenging at times, than it is today.
Mary was 15.
Mary was betrothed to marry Joseph. They got married and had Baby Jesus. They were both of the lineage of King David, as Scripture foretold.
I know women from that time period who got married (not pregnant) at 14 or 15.
Parents were responsible back then.
Some raised their grandchild as if it was the sibling of the mother.
That was not such a great idea either.
Honesty is the best policy.
(It is estimated that 1.8 million mothers were manipulated, coerced, pressured, deceived or pushed into giving up a baby that they wanted to keep. Some of these children were adopted into abusive, unloving homes. Blacks were not accepted into the maternity homes so there was an underground adoption market for them. If you really interested in this subject there is information available online or in books.)
I remember before Roe v. Wade and the arguments for abortion. The horror of maternity homes played heavily into why abortion was supported by many women.
No, every institution varies– there have always been good and bad ones. Same thing with nursing homes, for your loved ones. Find a good one. There were also Catholic religious orders that helped the Blacks, too, long ago. The material you have, may have been put out by self-centered, rebellious, pro abortion liberals. Yes, a young girl who made a mistake, needs to grow up, learn self-discipline, and to learn life’s lessons. She needs to be unselfish, mature, and to be told that she must do what is best for the baby– not herself. There have been many wonderful adoptive families. Life is not perfect– so a few families might have had problems. But that’s life. You do the best you can.
Are you the one that had to put their baby up for adoption?
Many women from that era refuse to see their children when they are found because they still carry so much toxic shame.
The number one reason in my opinion of why we have legal abortion is the way pregnant girls were shamed.
That is pride.
Like rainbows?
Like fire and brimstone.
Actually, a long time ago, very few people in America didn’t marry at least once. The figure of 80% of married couples in my comment of Jan. 20 at 4:42pm, is a bit too high– because there were widows and widowers– grandmas and grandpas who lost their spouses. The Traditional Marriage of one man and one woman, and their lovely Family Home with Children, is the very heart of all cultures and all civilizations. And it is the core of our Church. Most young men and women got narried by their early 20s, settled down, and started families– and saved up, and bought a family home– which used to be very affordable for all income levels. America must get rid of the evil Death Culture, and return to good Judeo-Christian Morality, and Traditional Marriage and Family with Children. And regular church attendance, as nearly everyone used to belong to a church, and showed up there, on Sundays, in America! Even non-believers went, like it or not– and it had a good effect on their lives, no matter what. They learned right from wrong, and had respect for God, the Bible, and Christianity. And respect for the Catholic Church, if Catholic. Catholic men who sinned grievously, like JFK and his filthy mistresses– still had great respect for God and the Catholic Church. Pres. JFK would never have dared to be smart-aleck, disrespectful and rebellious to God and the Catholic Church, stating that his sinful ways were “right” and “good”– like the evil Pres. Joe Biden. We had a much better country.
JFK died without access to the sacraments. Same with John, Jr.

Before Vatican II, about 80% of Catholics in America regularly attended Sunday Mass. Today, although there are many more Catholics in the U.S.– partly due to immigration from Latin America– Sunday Mass attendance is at about 25%. The Catholic Church is the single largest church in the U.S. And it is the second largest religious group, with Protestantism being the largest. Our Church badly needs good clerical leadership, to fix all the problems in the Church, and to bring lapsed Catholics back to practice of their Faith.
It’s even lower than that. Weekly Mass attendance among Catholics is less than 13% and falling. Not as bad as Europe, which has 3% of Catholics attending weekly Mass, but we’re catching down and will get there eventually.
During the Pandemic, Mass attendance dropped drastically, but it is now a little better. However, the percentage of Catholics attending Sunday Mass has not yet reached the pre-Pandemic levels– which have sadly dropped over the years, in the Vatican II era.
Catholicism has collapsed in Ireland and Poland. I mean, if Ireland and Poland can’t stay Catholic, there’s not much hope for anyplace else. It’s getting to the point that churches in Ireland and Poland are empty. The young are leaving the church.
There is nothing shameful about being pregnant.
Most babies born now are born to unwed mothers.
If you are pregnant and need support please go to a Church – any Church. They will help you even if you are not religious.
All life comes from God.
They honor God by helping mothers.
