The following comes from a January 8 San Bernardino Sun article by Nereida Moreno:
Volunteers Friday helped paint the walls of a San Bernardino church that was vandalized with gang-affiliated tagging and drawings of swastikas, pentagrams and upside-down crosses.
Deputies — who were investigating the incident as a hate crime — discovered graffiti at Our Lady of Hope Church near the 6800 block of Del Rosa Avenue shortly after 2 a.m. Nazi and satanic symbols were drawn on several buildings of church property, including the front door of the parish.
“There has been graffiti, but it’s always been gang-related graffiti. This is something different,” said Herb Reitsam, 74, parishioner of the church. “I don’t know who would want to do this.”
Reitsam said their first priority was to cover the drawings with brown paper because of a scheduled funeral this morning.
Was there a ‘Hate Crime’ Investigation in to this – and related Attacks?
