The following comes from a July 12 USCCB news release:
WASHINGTON—Urging support for the First Amendment Defense Act Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone of San Francisco, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Subcommittee for the Promotion and Defense of Marriage and Archbishop William E. Lori of Baltimore, chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee for Religious Liberty, issued the following statement:
Today the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee will hold a hearing on the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA). The USCCB has been vocal in support of this legislation, as it would provide a measure of protection for religious freedom at the federal level. FADA is a modest but important step in ensuring conscience protection to faith-based organizations and people of all faiths and of no faith who believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, protecting them from discrimination by the federal government. The increasing intolerance toward religious belief and belief in the conjugal meaning of marriage makes these protections essential for continuing faith-based charitable work, which supports the common good of our society. Faith-based agencies and schools should not lose their licenses or accreditation simply because they hold reasonable views on marriage that differ from the federal government’s view.
The definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman, universally held for centuries, has nothing to do with disrespect for others, nor does it depend on religious belief. Rather, it is based on truths about the human person that are understandable by reason. Faithful to its commitment to serve the best interests of society, the Catholic Church will continue to promote and protect the truth of marriage as foundational to the common good. The Church will also continue to stand for the ability of all to exercise their religious beliefs and moral convictions in public life without fear, and to witness to the truth.
We are pleased to support the First Amendment Defense Act, and we urge Congress to pass this important legislation.
Laws like this won’t do any good if you accept transgender teachers and openly pro-LGBT religion teachers in your Catholic schools. Catholic school students are already being misled by their dissident teachers to believe that the Catholic Church’s doctrine about marriage is discriminatory, and those teachers are encouraging students to hope for a day when the Church will revise its doctrine. Note that the state wasn’t the driving force of this situation: a failure of oversight of Catholic schools has caused them to rot from within. I know from experience of having taught in Catholic schools how rotten many of them have become in California.
Sawyer– This horrific calamity in our Catholic schools, would never have happened, when I was young, before Vatican II!! Vatican II “religious freedoms,” as well as the famous “Land of Lakes” Conference in the mid-1960’s, led by Notre Dame’s famous, heretical, liberal, former (now deceased) President– Fr. Theodore Hesburgh— shockingly paved the way, for all of this!
Sawyer: Archbishop Cordileone has personally approved of transgender teachers in his diocese. People need to be treated like people, not pariahs.
Linda Maria: This has nothing to do with the declaration on religious liberty from Vatican II. That declaration dealt with states not invoking their power to force membership in one religious group or prevent membership in one’s religious group of choice. Please read the documents before rushing to trash them!
Treating people like people means treating them as what they are. If someone is a woman, you don’t treat her like a man even if she has a psychological illness that convinces her she is a man or even if she wants to be a man. You treat her as a woman because that’s the type of person she is. Indulging her errors about herself is not respecting her; it’s disrespecting her.
Subjecting impressionable students to a false anthropology is destructive of their psychological development and harmful to their educations, so you’re disrespecting students by accepting a transgender teacher.
Archbishop Cordileone terribly mishandled that scenario. Terribly.
I would resign if I had been a teacher at that school. Loudly.
Sawyer, I myself, believe that all clergy and nuns of our Church, should be held accountable for responsibly upholding our Church’s teachings. I don’t believe in “witch hunts,” if someone decides they no longer believe in our Faith and Morals. I just believe, they need to be HONEST– and then be told, “okay, give up your religious habit (or priesthood, etc.) and go now, you are free to go and do as you wish with your life!” Catholic laymen being served, all deserve HONESTY and INTEGRITY of their Church, for themselves and their families! But you are free, Sawyer, to see things your own way!
Sawyer– if possible, go and ask any one of our prelates, all about what the Fathers of the Vatican II Council decided– and ask about all of the severe restrictions on their religious authority! For example– the nuns who run that high school with the transgender teacher– are now “GLORIOUSLY FREE,” to run their school as they see fit– with NO PRELATE poking his nose in their business, at all, any more! They all think this is GLORIOUS!! And many of our prelates, likewise, agree! If I ask one of them “WHY,” they say– “because we are now doing our Catholics SO MUCH GOOD!”
YFC– I meant to write my posts, below, to reply to BOTH you and Sawyer! Every time I go and catch a prelate after a big Mass, and talk with him, since the close of the Council– and make a complaint about something– I always get the same answer–“We have to follow the Pope and Vatican, and Vatican II has many problems! We no longer have the authority, to do as we used to do. We are all living in a VERY BAD ERA! The Church thinks in terms of great big eras– way past our lifetimes! Someday, in a better era– maybe some of these problems will get fixed!” So, there it is! And I am NOT “bashing” our Church!
I simply don’t believe you that “prelates” are always telling you that Vatican II has many problems. Maybe one or two told you that, to get you to stop complaining, but I don’t for one minute believe that they always trash talk Vatican II to you.
YFC– of course, our prelates do not “trash talk” Vatican II!! That is so SILLY!! Be realistic, YFC!! Instead, prelates will say–“we have such-and-such problems (no discipline, no ability to stop something wrong, problems with the liturgy, inability to correct these problems, and on and on…) Most people are simply REALISTIC, YFC– with their jobs! Aren’t you? Poor Bishop D’Arcy (now deceased) went CRAZY, with NO AUTHORITY to stop Notre Dame U. in 2009– from inviting Obama to give the commencement speech, along with giving him a big award! I felt so sorry for that poor bishop!
YFC– if you go and talk to a prelate about a problem in our Church– he will give you a realistic view of the situation, and tell you exactly what is going on. He also will provide you with accurate information as to what can be done– or not be done. Next– he may have his own personal viewpoint. Some may be liberal, like Bishop McElroy. Others, like Abp. Cordileone, may relate their struggles, and thank you for your prayers. But at least, you can get the accurate information, if you go and talk with a prelate for a few minutes, like others do– after a Mass!
Sawyer, and others— You all might want to read a very good essay, by Patrick Reilly, the president of the Cardinal Neman Society, all about the disastrous effects of the infamous “Land O’ Lakes Statement,” of 49 years ago, on Catholic education. This excellent essay can be found both in the recent publication of the Cardinal Newman Society, and the “National Catholic Register” newspaper, now owned by EWTN. Both publications are available online for free!
City hit by suit from ex-HRC staffer

A straight former employee at the San Francisco Human Rights Commission has filed a reverse sexual orientation discrimination lawsuit against the city…
Thomas Willis alleges that he faced discrimination based on sexual orientation and race, retaliation, defamation, and intentional interference with his contract.
HRC Executive Director Theresa Sparks… “consistent with her long-standing bias against heterosexual males, and African American heterosexual males in particular,”
One method to enforce Mandatory Pander or Perish Pogroms across society will be through re-instituting the Military Draft (Men are Required to Register already, under penalty of prison, fines and loss of student aid…) for All…
By Making these inductees swear allegiance to entire Gaystapo Pogrom, or Else.
Not unlike the German Army was required to swear allegiance to the syphilitic coprophile prostitute Hitler – after the assassination of his mentor and party founder / leader of the SA Storm Troopers – Ernst Rohm.
The USDOJ has issued Rules for the New Order and they will be Obeyed:

“Faith-based agencies & schools should not lose their licenses/accreditation simply because they hold reasonable views on marriage that differ from the federal government.” Nice words. Not going to happen under this POTUS. FAITH groups are losing ground, everyday & in every way. Does it have something to do with the BILLIONS the USCCB administers & re-distributes (our money) via the US government funding for USCCB charities everywhere & POTUS AIDS healthcare in Africa? One would suspect, BILLIONS come with a price. Wake up Catholics! The bishops have brought this on themselves by accepting (HUGH) government funding. God help us. Pray.
Indeed – FTP is correct in saying that Taking Caesar’s Coin means being Caesar’s Stooge, and forcing others to do the same – as proof of ‘tolerance’
The homo-nazi reich actually fed hungry people and put them to work (later their military absorbed the unemployed), and thus ‘did good’ in the same way as our Abomination.
It is said no nation is ever more than three missed meals from revolution, and bread and circus is older than welfare and ‘dancing with the stars’ – but so long as we have Media to tell us better the scam continues.
It is time for Catholic Education to Counter the PC Propaganda – but it means going it alone, and facing Jail Time 4 ‘hate crime’ when we tell the truth.
The Gaystapo…
Counted. The Gaystapo has learned to produce slick propaganda (can you say Disney…) that incorporates the ‘message’ seamlessly inside an otherwise entertaining (or not – Some big bangers need Laugh Tracks to tell the audience when something is funny) – but too much Catholic programming is “preachy instead of peachy’.
This is Not to Denigrate Catholic Teachings -but as Father Barron’s Series “Catholicism’ – the Faith and its background can be presented in an interesting and entertaining manner – without compromising the Facts.
WE – Need to let go of the Ego Driven Sermon, and simply incorporate Positive Catholic Values in to quality materials, where a Seamless presentation is possible, without making it a repetitive Sermon.
At the FADA Hearing the position was that those working at the EEOC / DOJ… Would and Should be Fired, if they dared oppose the Gaystapo Agenda, particularly overturning the SSAD Marriage ruling…
Contrary to those working there who Opposed the Federal Law of DOMA – Protecting Man & Woman Marriage, who were Promoted.
In other words – the First Amendment is only for those not in a position to Punish those opposed to the Gaystapo pogrom of Misandry – Hatred of Men & Boys, Masculinity and Normal Heterosexuality.

First Amendment Defense Act – would prevent the federal government from…
I love the anonymous third person “the position was that those” who opposed the proposal would undergo this and such.
The position was whatever you want to make it. It is not the law, nobody is proposing it, and you are making things up and using the third person to cover your tracks.
If freedom of religious expression is not protected physical persecution will be the next step for those who have the courage to defend their faith in the public arena. Then the country would cease to be a democracy. It would be well on the way to become a totalitarian tyranny. Remember we are not fighting principalities of the flesh but of the spirit world. Right now the battle seems insurmountable but do not despair or give up because God is in charge. Our Lord God and Saviour Jesus Christ is on the way. The day and the hour is only known by God the Father. Look up brothers and sisters in Christ for your redemption draweth near!
