During their November 2025 Fall plenary assembly, the U.S. Bishops made the decision to consecrate the nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 11 in honor of the nation’s 250th birthday.
Once this decision was made, Bishop Alberto Rojas wrote to the Vatican asking that the diocesan parishes and schools dedicated to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus be made special pilgrimage sites that the faithful could visit and receive a plenary indulgence during the month of June. This request was approved by the Vatican.
These designated parish and school sites are: The Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Redlands; Sacred Heart Academy, Redlands; Sacred Heart Parish, Jurupa Valley; Sacred Heart Parish, Anza; Sacred Heart Parish, Rancho Cucamonga; Sacred Heart School, Rancho Cucamonga; St. Margaret Mary Parish, Chino; Sacred Heart of Mary & Jesus Chapel, Thermal; and Sacred Heart Parish, Palm Desert.
Similar to the 2025 Ordinary Jubilee Year, the local Catholic faithful are encouraged to make a pilgrimage to one or more of these designated sites dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus for the opportunity to receive a plenary indulgence, a remission before God of the temporal punishment due to sins.
To receive a plenary indulgence, one must:
– Have a spirit detached from all sin, even venial.
– Visit one of the Sacred Heart pilgrimage sites designated by Bishop Rojas, with the intention of receiving the indulgence.
– Confess one’s sins to a priest (Sacrament of Reconciliation)
– Attend Mass and receive the Eucharist
– Pray for the intentions of the Holy Father Pope Leo XIV
– Pray the Our Father and the Creed
The opportunity to receive a plenary indulgence at these designated sites dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus this June is not the only vehicle for the faithful to celebrate the consecration of the nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
A Pilgrim Icon of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, one of 300 in the world bearing the apostolic blessing of Pope Francis, will tour the designated diocesan sites.
The Icon of the Sacred Heart of Jesus will begin its tour at The Holy Name of Jesus Parish and Sacred Heart Academy in Redlands from June 1-4, then to Sacred Heart Parish in Rancho Cucamonga from June 5-7 and will continue to visit other designated sites throughout the month of June. The tour will conclude at Sacred Hearts of Mary & Jesus Chapel in Thermal from June 23-25.

June is the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. A wonderful devotion. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on us.

Mary doesn’t have a sacred heart so why is there a parish named “Sacred Hearts of Mary and Jesus Chapel”? The bishop needs to correct that name as soon as possible. That’s like having an “Immaculate Heart of Jesus” parish.
If a picture has been “blessed” by pope Francis, I’m not interested in going to see it. Who cares? Really. You mean some people will go to see a picture just because pope Francis blessed it? Lame and weird. Probably a bunch of old people. As if the diocese doesn’t have enough to worry about already with declining Mass attendance and youth disaffiliation from Catholicism. Fix parishes and fix the broken faith instead of doing these gimmicky things.
You can get a plenary indulgence every single day, all year round, for your entire life by reading scripture for 30 minutes. That’s all: 30 minutes, and you don’t even have to leave your house. Forgive me, but I don’t see the point of attaching a plenary indulgence to visiting a pilgrimage site. Just preach and teach about the ways you can gain a plenary indulgence every day. There are several ways, including adoration, the rosary, and the Bible.
I’d wager that the vast majority of Catholics have an ignorant and magical, superstitious faith. They hear a bishop tell them that the pope approved plenary indulgences at a nearby parish for visiting the place and they think it’s a special, rare get out of hell free card granted by the pope himself. A lot of popular Catholic practice, let’s face it, can be understood as “doing things” to “pay the premium” on your “stay out of hell insurance policy”. And a lot of Catholics are also papoloters.
Vatican II’s call for a more mature and vibrant faith among Catholics has been a dismal failure. The Mass may be in English but the people in the pews don’t know much.
June is also pride month.
Reply to June:: Trinity Sunday the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity almost always falls in June.
And the trinity gave us the rainbow, so it all blends together.
