Subject: Vicar General Announcement
I am appointing Fr. Michael Vaughan, Vicar General for the Diocese of Sacramento, effective October 1, 2018.
Fr. Vaughan currently serves as the Pastor of St. Peter and All Hallows in Sacramento. He will continue to serve in this position until January 13, 2019, while devoting part of his time to his new duties as Vicar General. Starting January 14, 2019, he will work full-time at the Pastoral Center in Sacramento. Fr. Vaughan was ordained in November 25, 2004.
In his various assignments he has demonstrated a mature pastoral ability, priestly zeal, and a gentle fraternal manner, earning the respect of both the clergy and faithful. I welcome him as part of the dedicated team of co-workers who labor with me at the Pastoral Center. I am grateful to Fr. Mark Richards who has served in the interim as Vicar General.
Please join me in congratulating Fr. Vaughan and offering him our prayers as he prepares to serve the Catholic community of Northern California in this new capacity.
From Diocese of Sacramento.
Perhaps a bit more on Fr. Vaughn’s educational and other background would be informative. What made him stand out from other potential candidates?
Let’s hope he’s not in the Club.
We enjoy Fr. Michael Vaughan’s sermons at Holy Spirit Church. With his military background, as a Marine, he is familiar with a chain of command. He relates well with people and has a “down to earth” way of speaking, that makes it easy to understand whatever point he wants to make. Good man, good choice.
We saw Father Vaughan tonight at St. Francis Catholic church in Sacramento, and we were immediatley touched by his presence. I just watched his interview on YouTube on Shalom TV, and his story was amazing and inspiring, everyone should watch it! What a blessing, Sincerely, The Sullivan’s.
