Even in this time of worry, confusion, and darkness, there are tremendous signs of hope, including a renewed devotion to Our Lady and the power of the rosary, and a firmer trust in her promise at Fatima that “In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph.”
In that spirit, we are inviting you to gather to pray the rosary with other believers around the world as Ralph Martin, Lila Rose, Kimberly Hahn, Sr. Miriam James Heidland, Fr. Donald Calloway, Fr. Boniface Hicks, Fr. Josh Johnson, Chris Stefanick, and many other Catholic teachers and influencers lead us through the sacred mysteries.
This will be a live, worldwide, virtual event at 6:30 pm central on October 7, 2021—yes, that’s right, the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary! You will need to register in advance to receive the link to join in. Here’s where to sign up: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/avilafoundation/568089#.
We are asking you to share this information with all of your praying family and friends. Imagine what will happen as thousands gather to pray with Our Lady’s weapon in hand!
If you have a prayer group or bible study group, you are encouraged to gather together and watch, pray, and participate as a community. Make an evening of it!
Will you register, and help us spread the word?
Thank you in advance and mark your calendars now!!
Our Lady of Victory, pray for us!
The above was forwarded on Sept. 17 by a California Catholic reader.
I read an interesting meditation on Luke 1:5-25 last night. It said that even though Zechariah prayed for a son, he really did not expect his prayer to be answered. When it was, he questioned and doubted.
Jesus said “Therefore I tell you, all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours.” Mark11:24
and “Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive”. Matthew 21:22
Believe. Do not doubt. Don’t wait for October 7. Pray the Rosary daily.
These self-aggrandizing Catholics who ask others to watch them pray the rosary… how pridefully twisted do you have to be to do that? Why not just make an announcement encouraging people to pray the rosary on their own? Why say, “Oh, tune in to watch meeeeeeee, watch meeeeeeee be so holyyyyyyyyy, watch meeeeee praying the rosary!” Look at me! Watch me pray!
Jesus also said, “When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, who love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on street corners [and on the internet] so that others may see them.” Matthew 6:5
Uhmmmmm… How many times in authentic apparitions has the holy mother asked us to pray the rosary?
That’s good enough for me. You? Guess not…
So don’t watch, but pray the rosary anyway.
Ok. So as you all know folks, I rarely compliment comments here, but this one comment from “Not,” I’d have to praise.
Praising the negative is just another criticism Jon. Maybe you could see your way into praying a rosary in spite of it.
Exactly, “Disingenuous,” a comment in this here blog that positively, genuinely, and sincerely affirms and upholds the Church’s Magisterium, that upholds all of the forms of the Latin liturgy (that’s the Ordinary and the Extraordinary Forms, people), that affirms Tradition and Scripture, that honors the Pope, bishops, Vatican II and the rest, gets my “highest and most worthy praises.” That’s my “First Class” praise; second class is “higher praises”; third class is “high praise”; and fourth class is just “praise.” “Not gonna’s” comment here gets my fourth class praise. Since my approval and praise seem to be sought-after among some people in the commentariat here, I thought I should let you all know. Carry on people.
Darling, the only thing you hold tighter than praise is pride. Most unbecoming for a Catholic, let both loose, for the sake of your soul.
So, is calling people here “darling” or “sweetheart” an example of humility? Or is it condescending, unbecoming, and patronizing? Sounds like the second one to me.
So calling people here “darling” or “sweetheart” is an example of humility? Sounds like condescension, unbecoming, and patronizing to many of us.
Or perhaps it’s a pet name for Jon, who needs a little tenderness to soften his hubris. But thanks for playing, Questioning disingenuous.
Questioning disingenuous, didn’t you know that “Jon Darling” is actually Jon’s real name? That’s what he calls himself. Now you know.
Disingenuous, I think two former “darlings” of the Vatican and its recent popes, Marcial Maciel and Theodore McCarrick– might fit most of “Jon Darling’s” four categories of so-called “praiseworthy” characteristics. Except, beyond their so-called “affirmed beliefs”– they were actually liars and criminals, convicted of many cases of evil clergy sex abuse. And Maciel had at least one illegitimate child by one of his female lovers (he had lovers of both sexes, while McCarrick had just gay lovers). So, you can’t tell a person’s character by what they say, in fancy words, or by their “play-actions,” which may be deceitful and manipulative. It is the kind of person they actually are, deep down, that counts.
Catholics must be battle hardened, you need a thicker skin sweetheart.
Matthew 11:34-37
You brood of vipers, how can you say good things when you are evil? For from the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks.
A good person brings forth good out of a store of goodness, but an evil person brings forth evil out of a store of evil.
t I tell you, on the day of judgment people will render an account for every careless word they speak.
By your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”
While the popes of recent history praised them to the skies, McCarrick, Maciel, and many other “outstanding” clerics sexually abused many seminarians and underage boys, regularly, for many decades. And Maciel actually had multiple women lovers at the same time, fathered illegitimate children, and sexually abused his own children, too. And received high praise from the popes, anyway. The seminarians and other victims of McCarrick, Maciel, and other evil clerics, “favored” wrongfully by the popes, were ignored, when complaining about sexual crimes of these criminal clerics. Not all popes are good Christians, but “Jon Darling” refuses to accept rightly-deserved criticism of any pope.
To the one posting as “me”, the vipers are those people refusing to join others in prayer. Being jealous of someone’s fame is petty and Catholics must overcome this kind of sin.
We can assure you, your approval is sought after by anyone…
Disingenuous, jon often derides his fellow posters and religious organizations with the term “beloved ” so I believe your comment is in keeping with jons purity standards that he himself does not meet . His posts are more parody then anything , think of punchinello and read his posts aloud in a parodic style , as I do for the children at the SSPX parish.
I was shocked by Not’s comment and it’s judgementalism and lack of charity, it’s attack on well-meaning people, it’s mockery of a good work.
And I am even more shocked by your support of it.
Considering you probably posted it yourself jon , yes I can see why you would .
It’s even worse… click on the link to register, and you are asked to make a $15 donation to Dan Burke’s foundation. Sure, you can change it to zero, but they still have the gall to ask and make $15 the default option. So petty.
Stuff like this is why youth are leaving the church.
Rubbish, because youth are used to paying for apps, games, all kinds of things. If you think a default, that they can easily change, is driving them from the Church, realize that secularism and hedonism are much larger players in their exodus.
Disgraceful, Honestly, do you know one young person who has left the Church because of this?
More than one? Two? Twenty or fifty?
(And, most people, like I often do, contribute nothing. Yet, those who work do need to pay their bills. 1 Timothy 5:18 None of those I’ve seen involved in this are getting rich by any means.)
Most young people have little difficulty buying a fancy coffee or having lunch out and I’m sure they’re tech-savvy enough to click “no donation,” if they don’t want to support this.
Maybe you could go in a corner by yourself and pray. Pray your way and God will hear. Pray also for the virtue of charity and humility.
Maybe we can pray you out of the Church
Do you even know what the rosary is?
I just read this. I would have loved to have received this earlier so that I could have joined you all. I pray the Rosary daily and wod have lived praying it with everyone. ?
Not gonna watch, I know a few of these men and women. I think you’re wrongly judging them. They are not asking you to watch them pray. They are asking you to join them in prayer. I think Catholic leaders, clergy and lay, should provide the good example of praying the Rosary, even publicly, especially in dire times. Do you think Fr. Peyton, Mother Angelica and all others leading public rosaries are “self-aggrandizing?” I think not.
And, of course, we should pray privately as well.
Thumbs down on the first paragraph, not on Jesus.
I went to their website, eager to join. It looks that this is probably being handled like an online “Zoom” conference, with the Avila Foundation sneaking in a “suggested donation.” And you cannot convert the $15 “donation” request to “0,” either, as suggested. Praying a Rosary should never, never be connected in any way, shape, or form, to fundraising for any group, such as the Avila Foundation.
I was actually expecting to join in with something like the holy Rosary Crusades of Fr. Patrick Peyton. He had a far better approach.
Well, I expressed my concerns in a short email, and so the Avila Foundation’s representative went ahead and just did the sign-ip for me, bypassing the problem of the “donation” part, as I couldn’t convert it to “0,” as instructed. So I will pray the Rosary, along with this group.
This year, on Oct. 7, the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, marks the 450th anniversary of the victory of the Battle of Lepanto, against radical Muslim invaders of Europe. This great victory, by the grace of Our Lady, saved Europe from a Muslim conquest.
Hey, great… now you’re on their email list and you’ll receive donation requests for the rest of your life. Everything with these people is a promotion. Not of Jesus. Of themselves.
You have to backspace or delete until it is empty and then put in a zero.
Here is another Rosary request for October 18

Well, I got quite a shock, reading Catholic news stories today! Among other things, it was reported that the Pope called EWTN a “work of the Devil.” This was during a question-and-answer session with reporters, on his recent trip. Poor Mother Angelica!
The pope made this remark as he does not like the criticisms of his Papacy from EWTN and others. Best to read the whole news story.
That’s very rigid and un-dialogue-y of him.
He did not name the TV station. But if it is EWTN, I have avoided it since the Vigano scandal because something obviously has gone very wrong. Just their newsy stuff. Mass, Rosary, other programming is good.
I hope the leaders of this public Rosary Crusade against the Darkness will offer up at least a decade of the Rosary against the darkness in the Church. There is so much darkness in the Church today: Catholics hating one another over the liturgy ( EO vs OF), Catholics hating one another over politics (Right vs Left) and Catholics hating those involved in social justice efforts. Other forms of darkness in the Church include the sex abuse scandals (5 more priests in the Diocese of Sacramento!) the rich trying to “buy” the approval from priests and bishops, and the financial scandals. So much darkness in the Holy barque of the Lord. Mary Pray for us!
