Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. announced Tuesday that he has selected attorney and entrepreneur Nicole Shanahan, a former Democrat and donor to President Joe Biden, as running mate.
Kennedy made the announcement in Shanahan’s hometown of Oakland CA.
FOX News reported that “the 38-year-old Shanahan is a philanthropist with a long history of donating to Democrat and left-leaning causes, including supporting President Biden in his 2020 election bid before switching to Kennedy when he launched his own run for the Democrat nomination last year.”

Shanahan has advocated against supporting IVF research, because, in her view, it detracts from understanding the root causes of infertility. And she has argued the procedure is “sold irresponsibly” and has become more of a “commercial endeavor” than a scientific one, calling its promise “one of the biggest lies that’s being told about women’s health today.”
“Many of the IVF clinics are financially incentivized to offer you egg freezing and IVF and not incentivized to offer you other fertility services,” Shanahan told The New Yorker last year.
“I’m so often told that IVF is this great technology, and I always get questioned why I’m not more supportive of IVF,” she said in an online video series. “I’ve tried to imagine where we would be as a field if all of the money that has been invested in IVF and all of the money that’s been invested into marketing IVF and all of the government money that has been invested in subsidizing IVF, if just 10% of that went into reproductive longevity, research and fundamental research.”

Though she’s right on one issue, she is still a leftist and big donor to leftist causes. Nicole Shanahan went to Santa Clara University Law School and attended St. Mary’s College in California. In 2018, Shanahan helped fund and launch the Center for Female Reproductive Longevity and Equality.
She’s based in the Bay Area. After two husbands, in 2023, Shanahan held a “love ceremony” of commitment with Jacob Strumwasser, who is an advisor at Lightning Labs, a bitcoin software company. She described the event as a handfasting ceremony influenced by Druidic tradition. The pair met at the Burning Man festival in summer 2022.
And, she’s second on a ticket with an abortion promoter and a supporter of the LGBTQ+ lobby, also on his third spouse, who calls himself a Catholic.
We don’t need more Catholics like Biden and Newsom influencing public policy.
Many of us would like an alternative to Biden or Trump. But, that’s not going to happen (unless something major, even catastrophic, happens to one of the two leading candidates).
I’m not fooled. Her opposition to IVF, as correct as that position is, is likely more associated more with anti-birth and anti free market sentiments than protecting the dignity of the human person.
She’s only rich because she is the ex of a Google founder. If she weren’t pretty, she’d be a nobody.
Nicole Shanahan will be someone to contend with. In her acceptance speech, she makes some great comments about young people and technology. She is insightful. It sounds like me that women’s health care for her means abortion. She is for abortion. She did mention poverty, and wants to help those who are poor, she presented as an empathetic person with understanding about the needs of young families. As the election gets closer, I think RFK’s platform will be strengthened by her. Definitely she is more appealing than Kamala Harris. My guess right now is that Trump is going to choose Kristi Noem.

The only good thing about RFK running is that he will peel off votes from Biden and Trump will win.
This appointment saddens me as it reminds me of the Kennedy males’ predilection for adultery, at least in the case of the patriarch, Joseph Kennedy Sr., and President John F. Kennedy, and how Catholic priests and theologians convinced the Kennedys that abortion and Catholicism were compatible, thus beginning the Democratic war on unborn babies, beginning in earnest with youngest brother Ted Kennedy. Had his older brother Robert not been assassinated, I fear his legacy would be besmirched as well in this regard, but it is impossible to tell. In 1968 abortion was yet to arrive on the national scene as a political football. And now Robert Kennedy Jr. continues this sad tradition, knowing full well that abortion and Democratic leadership go hand in hand. I had hoped him braver than to continue this match made in hell but his pick of Nicole Shanahan says otherwise.
I want to agree with you on this. It’s even worse with Biden. I was a Democrat until Trump came into office. He actually did things that saved lives of the unborn. The only regret I have is that I became infected with an un dying allegiance to a guy I really can’t stand.
