Rainbow flag for Vatican but not Muslim or African countries
Advice from Antony Blinken

2021-06-02T11:43:19-07:00June 3rd, 2021|

The U.S. Embassy to the Holy See announced on Tuesday, June 1, that it was displaying the rainbow LGBT “Pride” flag for the month of June, which is celebrated as LGBT “Pride” month.

“The United States respects the dignity and equality of LGBTQI+ people. LGBTQI+ rights are human rights,” the embassy stated on Twitter.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken earlier this year announced that U.S. embassies and consulates around the world could fly the “Pride” flag on the same flagpole as the American flag, during “Pride season.”

The authorization to fly the flag – which was not a mandate – was given ahead of May 17, observed as the international day against homophobia, transphobia, and biphobia. June, during which embassies can also fly the “Pride” flag on the external flagpole, is celebrated as “Pride” month by people identifying as LGBT.

Under the Trump administration, U.S. diplomatic outposts were reportedly prohibited from flying the rainbow flag from embassy flagpoles, and had to obtain special permission to do so. They were allowed to display the flag inside buildings.

Antony Blinken’s cable on “Pride” flags, first reported by Foreign Policy magazine in April, advised that diplomatic posts in certain countries should avoid flying the rainbow flag if doing so would create a backlash.

Also on Tuesday, President Joe Biden, the second Catholic president in U.S. history, issued a statement on June 1 for “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Pride Month, 2021.”

“Pride is both a jubilant communal celebration of visibility and a personal celebration of self-worth and dignity,” Biden stated….

The above comes from a June 1 story on the site of the Catholic News Agency.

The site Infocatolico elaborated on Blinken’s cable:

“Embassies in certain countries should avoid flying the rainbow flag if doing so would create a violent reaction, for example, Muslim or some African countries.”

This flag shouldn’t be flown anywhere in a government building. It’s inherently divisive and not “inclusive” as are most non-national flags.

This is more “in your face” divisiveness from the Obama/Biden administration. Wasn’t it this type of stuff that liberals rejected during the Trump years.

Embassy staff know that Muslims will not allow that nasty rainbow flag to fly in their countries, and just may resort to violence to take it down. These Biden sanctioned government wimps talk a tough game but in the end, they fold. That’s why Americans must keep rooting out these pansies within our ranks.

Genesis 9:11-17 I will establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all creatures be destroyed by the waters of a flood; there shall not be another flood to devastate the earth. God said: This is the sign of the covenant that I am making between me and you and every living creature with you for all ages to come: I set my bow in the clouds to serve as a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
When I bring clouds over the earth, and the bow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and every living creature—every mortal being—so that the waters will never again become a flood to destroy every mortal being. When the bow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature—every mortal being that is on earth.
God told Noah: This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and every mortal being that is on earth.

The quote from Genesis 9 contains beautiful and comforting words from a merciful God. But He is as just in judging as He is merciful. So let all of us keep in mind the words of the old spiritual:

God gave Noah the rainbow sign
      No more water—-
      The FIRE next time

      From Church Militant:
The LGBT rainbow mocks God. It is a six-colored rainbow. As seven is the biblical number for perfection and completeness (e.g., the seven days of creation, the seven sacraments, the seven seals), six (one short of seven) is the biblical number representing sin and imperfection. The LGBT flag is a celebration of sin — and not just any sin, but in Christian Tradition, a sin grievous enough to “cry to Heaven for vengeance,” one of the four “peccata clamantia” (see Jude 1:7).

There is no more inclusive organization in the world than the Catholic Church. Not everybody accepts its tenets. They do not understand that the needs of the soul must be met. That is its purpose. To tell the truth about God and about salvation.

Look, if God allowed it then he wanted it to happen more than something he could have brought about. God can make things happen. If he doesn’t make them happen and lets other things happen instead, then he must want those other things to happen instead. Logic.

Saying it’s God’s will to allow it to happen is just a euphemism for saying he wanted it to happen while trying to get God off the hook; he didn’t stop it and didn’t make something else happen instead, so he obviously wanted that to happen instead of something he could have made happen instead.

I think you misunderstand God and his relationship to our free will. God gave us free will for a reason, so respects our decisions. If he repeatedly thwarts our free will, then he isn’t respecting it.

He calls us all to be holy. This is what he wants. However, when we do evil, he respects our decision [he allows it] even though he doesn’t want us to do evil. He doesn’t force us to do good.

Are you saying that God wanted monsters like Hitler, Stalin, and Mao to kill millions of people?

          • Anonymous June 4, 2021 at 12:01 am

And why pray for an end to abortion? What do those prayers do? What are we asking God to do to eliminate abortion if not change people’s wills so that they don’t choose abortion or change people’s wills so that they enact pro-life laws? How will God eliminate abortion if he doesn’t or can’t change people’s free wills?

If God respects free will so much that he’s passive and powerless over human free choice, then so many of the church’s prayers that people change their behavior don’t make any sense whatsoever.

          • Steve Seitz June 4, 2021 at 10:51 am

            Anonymous,
Yes, you made an excellent point about prayer. In fact, I’ve asked myself the same question. I haven’t really investigated this issue much, but I have the following thoughts:

            1. The interplay between our free will and God’s grace is highly complex. We literally can’t do anything without God giving us the grace to do it – including free will.

            2. God has given us great dignity and doesn’t wish us to be passive bystanders. He asks us to both pray and act.

            3. God is continually calling us to himself – to conversion. Most of us, including myself, ignore much of this prodding. He calls us very gently so as to not interfere with our free will.

Regarding Point 3, I’ll use St. Paul the Apostle as an example. In my opinion, God called St. Paul (a.k.a. Saul) to Christianity well before he knocked him off his horse on his way to Damascus. As we know, God wanted St. Paul to be his instrument because he had the precise skill set needed to rapidly expand His Church.

I believe that God initially called Saul very gently. When Saul easily ignored these proddings, God used more active methods (possibly “chance encounters”, errant thoughts, etc.). When Paul ignored these, God used even more forceful means (possibly strong locutions, etc.). When these didn’t work, God got highly active (blinded him and threw him off his horse).

St. Paul was an extraordinarily rare case. God rarely ever gets this forceful yet, if you noticed, Saul still could have rejected Christianity despite the Damascus incident.

            So, prayer can definitely work.

And still under the sun in the judgment place I saw wickedness, and wickedness also in the seat of justice.
I said in my heart, both the just and the wicked God will judge, since a time is set for every affair and for every work.
I said in my heart: As for human beings, it is God’s way of testing them and of showing that they are in themselves like beasts.

Meanwhile I saw the wicked buried. They would come and go from the holy place. But those were forgotten in the city who had acted justly. This also is vanity.
Because the sentence against an evil deed is not promptly executed, the human heart is filled with the desire to commit evil— because the sinner does evil a hundred times and survives.
          Though indeed I know that it shall be well with those who fear God, for their reverence toward him;
and that it shall not be well with the wicked, who shall not prolong their shadowy days, for their lack of reverence toward God.
This is a vanity that occurs on earth: There are those who are just but are treated as though they had done evil, and those who are wicked but are treated as though they had done justly. This, too, I say is vanity.
          Eccles 8:10-14

God did not vote for Biden nor did he vote for Trump. The American people did. The problem is we have two many groups of people in this country that cannot stand each other, and the politicians do not help because they keep us at each others’ throats. Many people laughed when Pelosi said that as a Catholic she did not hate Trump but prayed for him as we all know she despises him and he her. Power is what it is all about — pure power. Who rules over all the others, and to make it worse some are related. At least one of Trump’s sons was dating the ex wife of one Democratic governors. Ain’t that a hoot????

Lavender, light green and yellow baby clothes used to be given to a mother at a baby shower for either a boy or girl when mothers did not know what sex their children would be, pink was for girls and blue for boys after birth. I think that is why lavender is being used. I noticed changes in baby clothing around that time, using reds and other colors instead. I think to avoid lavender.

We should be careful as not everyone who wears such colors are LGBT sympathizers. They might just look good in those colors, and it has no meaning to them. Most confusing I know.

The original flag had 8 colors but was reduced to 6 simply because two of the original colors couldn’t then be commercially reproduced. I can pretty much guarantee that Gilbert Baker, the inventor of the flag in 1978, didn’t give any thought to a catholic notion of the perfect number, so he wasn’t mocking anyone.

There is a real problem with the LGBTQ rainbow flag – because it is now commonly flown with our National Flag, the Stars and Stripes, it implies that the LGBTQ people take precedence over ordinary citizens. Also, that LGBTQs are better thought of by our government, and that they have more political power. For example, why are our embassies ordered to fly the rainbow flag? This is not acceptable, and should be stopped. Can you imagine these same LGBTQ groups allowing a cross or Church flag, to be flown in place of the rainbow flag?

Neapolitan ice cream is not rainbow. At least the one in my area is striped with vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. Not everything advertised as rainbow is either. Some things are just multi-colored stripes that repeat themselves. I bought a really good, large, sturdy umbrella one year that was black with little dots of many colors on it that the store advertisement said rainbow, but it was not. I also have bought sun umbrellas with multi-colored pastel stripes. Those are not rainbow either. It is the “in your face” divisive situations as the one above that make many people angry.

I am not sure what happened to the question about why this flag has 7 colors instead of 6. The added color is the light blue. It is listed as the 1978 Pride Flag or the original Gilbert Baker Flag without the pink in Reader’s Digest.
Neapolitan ice cream is an Americanized version of spumoni which when made with cherry, pistachio and vanilla show the colors of the flag of Italy. Is that why the ice cream question arose?

I want the Biden administration to raise the rainbow flag in the capital cities of, Riyadh, Bagdad, Tunis, Muscat, Karachi, Tehran, Ankara, Kuwait city, Kabul, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Abu Dhabi, Aden, Khartoum! Come on what are you afraid of? After all this is the religion of peace isn’t it?

Hush, RA! We all know it isn’t the “religion of peace,” but we won’t say that!
At least one BBC reporter was honest enough to admit that he wrote critical articles about Christians, Jews and others, but not about Muslims. He said it’s more difficult to write critically of people who are willing to saw one’s head off. As you know, since the 7th century, Muslims have killed millions of Christians and others. So, let’s just continue to pretend that it’s the religion of peace (like why else would Muslims in Congress be calling for the destruction of Israel?) and that there are an unlimited number of genders, except in Muslim-majority nations.

I just read a news story about gay friendly parishes in Manhattan. Rainbow flags are in Catholic churches.

The bishop will probably come down to this “bad Catholic church” one of these days, and order the filthy, immoral “gay flag” to be removed.

The Pentagon announced its refusal to allow any military installation permission to fly the sick, immoral “gay rainbow flag.” They will abide by Trump’s 2020 instructions. I just sent a tweet to Burger King management, scolding them for their “Gay Pride Month” product promotions, giving proceeds to the LGBTs. I also said that American families should only eat at places that support and uphold Traditional (Man-Woman only!) Marriage and family values, with good morals, wholesome and safe for kids to eat or work there.
