The following comes from a December 17 Sacramento Bee/Capitol Alert about the swearing in of elected office holders, which occurred at Bishop Alemany High School at
2 p.m. on Saturday, December 15.
“Down in Los Angeles, new Democratic Assemblyman Raul Bocanegra is being sworn in again at a local event. Listed attendees include a number of big names from the south state, including Rep.-elect, City Councilman and former state legislator Tony Cardenas, as well as state Sen. Alex Padilla, former Assemblyman Felipe Fuentes and current Assembly members Bob Blumenfield, Anthony Rendon, Cristina Garcia and Scott Wilk.”
“Then there are Los Angeles City Controller Wendy Greuel, and City Councilmen Jose Huizar, Dennis Zine and Paul Krekorian, himself a former legislator. The ceremony starts at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bishop Alemany High School. There’s even a mariachi band.”
“Given that Greuel is running for mayor in the City of Angels’ municipal election next March, and Fuentes and Blumenfield are among the current and former legislators running for City Council or city attorney, expect to see more public appearances of the sort.”
[Bishop Alemany high school is in the Mission Hills area of the San Fernando Valley, right next to the San Fernando Mission Cemetery. It is named after the first archbishop of San Francisco, who according to the school’s website was “zealous in spreading and strengthening the faith in the hearts of men and women.”]
From the Naral Pro-Choice America website:
Co-chairs Felicity Huffman and Bettina Duval hosted an afternoon of education and an evening of celebration on Thursday, September 15. NARAL Pro-Choice America
They were joined by honorary co-chairs L.A. City Council President Eric Garcetti, West Hollywood City Councilmember Abbe Land, City Controller Wendy Greuel, and California Assemblyman Anthony Portantino.
From the No on 85 website,
Among the elected officials opposing the Parents Right to know initiative in 2006 are Los Angeles city councilmen Jose Huizar and Dennis Zine.
And from the Naral Pro-Choice America Vote Smart website,
Paul Krekorian is rated as 100% in favor of abortion rights.
Why should we be surprised? These are the same people some clergy love to be the guests of honor of.
Good Lord, what laughing stocks the bishops are.
THIS IS AN OUTRAGEOUS SCANDAL !!!
The militantly pro-abortion California Democratic Party, which funnels tens of millions of taxpayers’ dollars to the child-corrupting and baby-murdering Planned Parenthood has won supermajorities of more than two-thirds of the seats in the California State Senate and Assembly in the November 6 election.
Pro-abortion Democrats now hold all the California state-wide elected offices from pro-abortion Governor Jerry Brown down to Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones and Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson.
Pro-abortion U.S. Senator Diane Feinstein just won another 6 year term representing California along with obsessively pro-abortion Senator Barbara Boxer !!
Pro-abortion Democrats were elected to 38 of California’s 53 Congressional Seats!
Pro-abortion Los Angeles Democrats now want to hold a phony second “swearing in” ceremony (the real ceremony was held at the State Capitol on Monday, December 3) for newly-elected, pro-abortion, Planned-Parenthood-promoting, Democratic Party Assemblyman Raul Bocanegra at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, just 3 days before Christmas, at Bishop Alemany High School, the largest high school operated by the Los Angeles Archdiocese under the direction of Archbishop Jose Gomez !!!
While still a candidate for the 39th Assembly District, Raul Bocanegra issued a special campaign press release on June 26, 2012 boasting of his endorsement by the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project: “It is an honor to have the support of PPAP” !!!
This phony second “swearing in” ceremony for pro-abortion Los Angeles Democrats should be hosted by Planned Parenthood at one of their baby-killing facilities, not at the Los Angeles Archdiocese’s largest Catholic High School!
This is a SCANDAL to more than 1,600 students, their parents, and benefactors who attend and support Bishop Alemany High School !
Why wouldn’t they all be inclined to vote for pro-abortion Democratic Party candidates who they see honored at their Archdiocesan Bishop Alemany High School, under the direction of Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez, appointed by Pope Benedict XVI ??
Are the leaders and huge bureaucratic staff of the Los Angeles Archdiocese and the California Catholic Conference of Bishops incompetent ? – indifferent ?, — invincibly ignorant ??, — or radically corrupt ???
PLEASE CALL Archbishop Gomez’s office (213) 637-7000 and DEMAND that this celebration of pro-abortion, pro-Planned Parenthood political power and glory not be allowed to be held at Bishop Alemany High School !!!
BETTER, PLEASE SEND a written message by FAX to: (213) 637-6000
or SEND an e-mail to:
“Archbishop Jose Gomez”
MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON US !!!
The telephone number for Archbishop Jose Gomez is:
(213) 637-7000
A working FAX number for Archbishop Jose Gomez is:
(213) 637-6510
Archbishop Jose Gomez’ e-mail address is:
Archbishop(DOT)Gomez(AT-SYMBOL)LA-Archdiocese(DOT)org
His mailing address is:
Most Reverend Jose H. Gomez
3424 Wilshire Bl. 5th Floor
Los Angeles, CA 90010-2241
PLEASE Contact Archbishop Gomez’s office and ASK why this celebration of pro-abortion, pro-Planned Parenthood political power and glory was allowed to be held at Bishop Alemany High School, which is the largest Catholic High School in the Los Angeles Archdiocese and directly operated by the Archdiocese headed by Archbishop Gomez!!!
PLEASE ask that scandals like this NOT be ALLOWED to happen again.
Archbishop Jose Gomez should not allow politicians or any others who promote and vote to fund abortion, Planned Parenthood, and the Culture of Death, to be honored in and/or use churches, schools, or any other facilities owned by or controlled by the Los Angeles Archdiocese!
What an insult to Christ! What a mocking of everything that Archbishop Alemany stood for. What kind of callous indifference allows this kind of attack? This is a Catholic Low for Alemany High!” This is outrageous!
Once again in Los Angeles, there is no one guarding the flock! It is business as usual. The smiling wolves have absolutely no fear of a good strong shepherd’s presence in guarding the flock. Grinning pro-abort baby murderers and Parental Rights destroyers honored at a Catholic High School. This is another example of our Hall of Shame!
Will this be conveniently swept under the rug with another lame excuse. Someone in authority gave these grinning wolves permission to be honored at Alemany High. Whoever allowed this disgrace should be removed immediately. Spare the discipline, enable and encourage the heretic! Those four faces above will go down in history for shamefully adding to the decay of our families and our culture. God will also hold them accountable.
“Woe to the pastors, that destroy and tear the sheep of my pasture, saith the Lord.”…..Jeremiah 23:1 Douay-Rheims
Catherine,
This is an excellent question and it should be directed to the editors of this site… they should, as journailsts, as the author of this article, query the ADLA media office and find out who, by name, approved this nonsense and then print the name so the flock will know where our weak links are in the stewardship of this Diocese. It’s time for some accountability here.
Cal Walker,
The buck stops at Archbishop Gomez’s feet!
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
Don’t forget that this High School was once Our Lady Queen of the Angels Seminary.
The defining characteristic of every fairy tale is how it begins, “Once upon a time … “
Except for calcatholic, where is the outrage? Why are the Knights of Columbus not the least upset? Where is the Cardinal, and his auxilary bishops? No one seems to care. All this filth is allowed to take place, the faithful are scandalized and confused, and the hierarchy wonders why people are fleeing the Catholic Church in droves. In order for the ‘new’ evangelization to be successful, the wolves, whether they be magnum or minor, must be fired immediately! The false shepherds have been derelict in their duty for too long. Until they are retired or fired, terrible and sinful scandals like this one, on the grounds of the former junior seminary, will continue. As a result, Catholics will continue to mutate into uncatholic and unchristian believers, until they are undistinguishable from the rest of pagan society.
So true Fr Karl. A hard truth that few care enough to act. Even those who are pro lifers are overwhelmed and feel like a great tide is sweeping over us . I wish we were as well organized as “them”. As for the “sheph
erds”, at least at my parish, they only worry about the collection box and parties. I should say “parishes” as we have one for the Filipinos, the Chinese, the Vietnamese, and one for the rest of us I don’t think they mix too much.
New Evangelization is for proffessional Catholics to hit the speaking circle , go on their radio shows and organize seminars, sell their latest books, CD, and give even more speaking retreats, and get paid, Holiness does not matter anymore.
Father,
Most who call themselves Catholic are already indistinguishable from the rest of pagan society! And that includes most who call themselves “Knights”, especially most of the leadership. Oh I know they write “nice” things, and they make canned messages to the membership, I recieved one, telling us to not vote for anti-Catholic politicians, but then they protect this errant Knights’ memberships when the Rank and File demand their expulsion (I believe Our Lord called that HYPOCRISY!). I am currently working to find the contact information of yet another Knight who was expelled because he brought too much attention to this scandal.
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,

Unbelievable. we are destroying ourselves from the inside by not seeing the differences between right & wrong. we absolutely refuse to recognize by admitting the real problems through verbal engineering. for example, why Newtown? God out…satan In; Good out…Bad In; Commandments & Prayer out…Sin in: Plants out…Weeds in. However you put it learn from a well formed conscience. key word ‘well formed’ The Church is being infiltrated just like our government by removing The Lord personally & in publc. Merry Christmas…Silent Night, Holy Night
The Devil is Destroying us from within.
The only way the devil can succeed at this, is if people submit to his snares…which we all know that many lack holiness and virtues and that is why we are pawns to his evil games!
I see it rather as a culling, a pruning, a separating of the goats from the sheep … all a good thing … becoming a “smaller, holier Church”. As the light shines in the darkness, the tares will be exposed and and wilt in the sunlight while the grain grows stronger.
Skai maybe, I still hope for people’s conversion though.
Why is this a surprise? This message has been re-told many times: Catholic bishops, in the main, do not care that much about fighting abortion (or homosexual sexual rights). Some talk, much paper, no fight. Yes, it is nice about the “Apostolic succession” but these men are gone as Men of Faith. Where is the bishop regarding these appointments? If he did not know, why does he now simply suspend them. Bishop Sartain had no problem clearly spelling out to this priests and lay Catholics what he expected regarding the recent Washington State law on homosexual marriage. Simple, clear, direct and unequivocal. Not in sunny California (and in Virginia, and in Maryland, and in New York and many other areas). Fear, naked fear, coupled with an evident lack of faith makes our bishops cowardly. Pray for them, certainly, but do not expect much.
Why Bishop Alemany High School? Some flunky in the chancery office throwing downt the guantlet at the new archbishop, or is the archbishop himself behind this?
What gives?
Dan,
Very good question!
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
Where is it safe to send your little ones to Catholic school these days? Where is the oversight we would have expected from Archbishop Gomez? We expected so much more from him than this. Honeymoon: officially over.
Come-on Bishop G…. stand up for your flock… the honeymoon is over and you are not setting any kind of example for your clergy and faithful. Leadership by example is called for here … we expected you to lead and so far it’s not happening. Please step up to your vows…
Maryanne,
CRCOA will once again unfortunately have to demonstrate at now his REC, will you and others join us?
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
Another example of the lack of diocesan oversight so badly needed these days. What about issuing a directive that no abortion rights politician or citizen is to be allowed to speak at any diocesan facility?
Here is an imagined conversation at the Chancery Office:
“Archbishop, some people are upset about this event at Alemany”
“Does the issue concern immigration?”
“No Archbishop it does not concern immigration issues”
“Well, Monsignor, you know my policy – none of this stuff about abortion,Catholic identity, pornography, or same sex marriage is important to me or the Archdiocese. All that matters is immigration. Do you have my plane tickets for my next trip to Washington, D.C.?”
JimAroo,
God Bless you for imagining the truth!
This next conversation is not an imaginary conversation but a real conversation that actually took place at the heretical Los Angeles Religious Ed Congress
A Catholic mother saw the new Archbishop Gomez walking and a small group of attendees also saw him so they stopped to talk with the new Archbishop. This Catholic mother waited until the Archbishop finished talking to the small group of well wishers and then she approached him. This mother knelt down and kissed the Archbishops ring.
The conversation that took place:
Catholic Mother: Your Excellency, I am deeply troubled by your very close ties and affiliation with the Marxist group known as La Raza.
Archbishop Gomez: Oh, I do not think that La Raza is a Marxist group, after all the USCCB is working along with them.
Catholic Mother: Your Excellency, I am sorry but with all due respect you are mistaken, they are Marxist and it would be beneficial if you did some further research into their extremely radical activities. This is no different than if the faithful learned that Cardinal George had joined hands in working right alongside the Klu Klux Klan. Please your excellency, do some more research into the radical workings of La Raza.
Can Archbishop Gomez be that naive?
Catherine, thank you for sharing this. This is very sad indeed. The LA Archdiocese is also a member of LA One, which is another marxist group.
And to Mbûkû Kanyau Mbithûka, I doubt, as you do, that he is that naive. So sad.
The false god of “culture” reigns in the Los Angeles Archdiocese.
Ken,
The empty document or statement was already issued by the Bishops!
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
I don’t believe for one minute that Gomez is naive. He has been told by many of the faithful what is going on. You draw your own conclusions from here!
I DO NOT enjoy writing this way about men who are supposed to be our Shepherds, but Our Lord said “the truth shall set you free”!
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
It’s not naiivite’. It’s mental dullness. Most of these bishops are simply not very bright men.
The departed souls who are buried in nearby San Fernando Mission Cemetery will protest more than will the local Catholic hierarchy. The leadership of the Catholic Church is full of spineless wonders who are politically correct, but very distant in their relationship with Christ. Instead of being faithful to Our Lord, these wolves in sheep’s clothing are driving Catholics further and further away from the Good Shepherd, and closer to the great deceiver and father of all lies. God will not be mocked. Ave Maria Purissima!
ALERT—-
All CA Catholics need to call Bishop Kevin Vann, newly installed in Orange Diocese.
Ask him to put out an alert that no Catholic church, school or premise may be used to recognize pro-abortion politicians or government officials.
John,
Also ask him (Bishop Vann) to disavow the Archdiocese of Lost Angels Religious Dis-Education Congress and protect his sheep from it!
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
This is why I am not interested in the Novus Ordo Church anymore. Its just a secular organization with the grace of Sacraments.
There is no real conversion that goes on, people live their secular lives, Religious are just employees and its nice to hear a cute Jesus loves you story once in a while.
MKM I can understand why you said those things…its the reality. My heart weeps.
Sad, but true. What passes for Catholicism now a days is a empty shell. The bishops would rather have everyone feel good about themselves than do penance for our sins. Very few Catholic clergy have any backbone. That is why I am grateful for priests such as Father Karl.
I agree with you, Clinton.
If those of you who praise Fr. Karl only knew what he has gone through for the Faith you would praise him, love him, and support him even more!
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
In my last comments about Fr. Karl, I should have also wrote, “and is going through”!
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
To all the faithful here, so rightly troubled, I say to you: rejoice, and say again, rejoice.
Don’t worry that God does not see. Even if we cannot seem to do the right thing, the Lion of Judah will make it right. Make it right. We must not despair and repeat the despair of those whom Malachi chastised:
“Ye have wearied the Lord with your words, and ye said: Wherein have we wearied him? In that ye say: Every one that doth evil, is good in the sight of the Lord, and such please him: or surely where is the God of judgment?”
Today the Holy Father said this to us:
“Dear friends, the Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord which we will soon celebrate, invites us to live this same humility and obedience of faith. The glory of God is manifested in the triumph and the power of a king, which does not shine in a famous city, in a sumptuous palace, but dwells in the womb of a virgin and is revealed in the poverty of a child. The omnipotence of God, even in our own lives, acts with the often silent strength of truth and love. Faith tells us, then, that the defenceless power of the Child, in the end, defeats the noise of the powers of the world.”
Just keep praying. Even one Ave sent up into the hands of the Mediatrix of All Graces will…what?…somehow free her to destroy the work of the devil more and more.
I thought Mahony retired.
I often see the Cardinal standing next to the Bishop in pictures taken of events throughout the year.
All this anti-Vatican II heresy is most distressing.
The Holy Father has repeatedly taught that we — and those unfortunate schismatics who thought they could dismiss the Second Vatican Council — must be obedient to the Council.
A few people on this site seem to have the notion they have reject Vatican II and still call themselves faithful Catholics — which is just as preposterous as those who reject Vatican I and who are no longer in Communion with us.
Pope Benedict XVI — Oct. 11, 2012:
Calling for a revival in the church of the “yearning to announce Christ again to contemporary man,” the pope stressed that any new evangelization “needs to be built on a concrete and precise basis, and this basis is the documents of the Second Vatican Council.”
The pope also reiterated one of his most prominent teachings about Vatican II, that it must be understood in continuity with the church’s millennial traditions, not as a radical break with the past.
“The council did not formulate anything new in matters of faith, nor did it wish to replace what was ancient,” he said. “Rather, it concerned itself with seeing that the same faith might continue to be lived in the present day, that it might remain a living faith in a world of change.”
No one is rejecting V II. What we reject is its erroneous interpretation. For example, uprooting of the Altars and replacing them with Masonic Tables of plenty. Read the Pius XII Encyclical FULGENS RADIATUR ; he rejects everything that has gone into the Novus Ordo.
Where was that in Vatican II? Even the Holy Father tacitly agrees that there is a problem.
And the Fruits of the Novus Ordo are there for everyone to see.
This sort of thing is a Fruit of the Novus Ordo, not a Fruit of Vatican II.
Do not underestimate the Devil, he will have you doing his work easily while you think you are doing God’s work.
Go to a Traditine Mass in an ancient Church, (built before the council) listen to a traditional mass and compare it with what passes for a Mass these days in a regular faithful Novus Ordo Parish.
There is nothing about the Novus Ordo, save for apostolic succession and the Eucharistic Cannon that is not a break from the past. Nothing.
That includes, how the religious live out their vocations, how catechesis done, homilies, music, even the language of the Mass, everything is a break from the past.
A clear and present break visible for even my 5 year old to see when we visit both forms of the Roman rite.
You tell me, what did the council intend again?
“The council did not formulate anything new in matters of faith, nor did it wish to replace what was ancient,” he said. “Rather, it concerned itself with seeing that the same faith might continue to be lived in the present day, that it might remain a living faith in a world of change.”
Anonymous, I think if you critically read many posts, you will find not a rejection of Vatican II, or of Benedict’s words here, but a frustration with local ordinaries who exhibit a distinctive lack of spine and seem not to be listening to the very words you quote. And events such as this at Alemany do nothing to discourage this hand-wringing over weak prelates.
Annonymous who is AFRAID to be known, Re.: ““The council did not formulate anything new in matters of faith, nor did it wish to replace what was ancient,” he said. “Rather, it concerned itself with seeing that the same faith might continue to be lived in the present day, that it might remain a living faith in a world of change.”, the council, through its ambiguous documents, opened the door for what is called “the Spirit of Vatican II”, and that “Spirit” is what those you accuse are so opposed to!
“The council did not formulate anything new in matters of faith, nor did it wish to replace what was ancient,” he said. “Rather, it concerned itself with seeing that the same faith might continue to be lived in the present day, that it might remain a living faith in a world of change.”
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
Anonymous, you need a psychosis check. You post as if your sense of Vatican II is the one the Pope sponsors, and that there are no abuses of it at all. Do you work for the govt propaganda office or Madison Avenue Marketing? You can feed swill to countless people who will lap it up, but not to all people. Do you even lie to yourself, or do you avoid looking in the mirror? In other words, how can you actually trumpet such deceit?
Mbûkû Kanyau Mbithûka says: “This is why I am not interested in the Novus Ordo Church anymore. Its just a secular organization with the grace of Sacraments.”
wow.
no wonder the pope is clamping on down on people who speak of the roman catholic church with such disrespect, as if it somehow got demolished in the sixties and was replaced by something else.
this kind of talk is nutty as a fruitcake.
Its not nutty; Its true, Besides the Grace of Sacraments, what is left of the Novus Ordo Church? There is no clear teaching direction, no leadership, nothing. They cannot even agree on how to teach the Catechism, conferences of Bishops are just vague letter issuing bodies… and the letters say nothing.. Meanwhile, everything if falling around them.
The Novus Ordo experiment has been a disaster that is why the Holy Father has been trying to open the way to a return to Orthodoxy.
Like, no Vocations and Bishops walking around in suits and spending more time in exclusive conferences than in teaching and being holy.
Right on, MbKMb!!!
I disagree with MKM’s rejection of the Novus Ordo but calling his thinking “nutty as a fruitcake” is school-boy logic and thinking. If you walked in his shoes and experienced the Traditional Rite as he does, you might understand his frustration with weak leadership. By the way, what is the “roman catholic church”? Did you mean, “Roman Catholic Church”? Should one not use capitals if not simply as a matter of respect? Or was this demolished in the 60s?
actually, i thought ‘nutty as a fruitcake’ was pretty fitting for this season. (even though i am one of the few people who actually LIKES eating the stuff)
as for being against the novus ordo mass and all that stuff, there was a lot of nonsense LONG before the sixties, especially with priests mumbling through the mass with a bare knoweldge of latin and a desire to rush thorugh it to get to breakfast.
(probably hard for the faithful to tell, as his back was to them)
all this nostalgia stuff is typical of every peole in every age…looking back to and longing for the “good old days” that never were.
Are you serious? The misapplication of the tenents of Vatican II has caused widespread changes that are not improvements in the way the life and culture of the Roman Catholic Church is lived today. As one who knew the old ways well, I assure you that you are wrong. In this case, the “good old days” had so much to recommend them that it is a crying shame to see the well-intentioned Vatican II so grossly and globally misinterpreted, indeed, misapplied and misused as an excuse for extremely outlandish ways at virtually all levels. It literally breaks my heart.
max with a small M,
The priest’s back was not to the faithful, he was facing our Divine Savior in the Tabernacle, and the people were offering that Sacrifice through him to Our Lord. By the way, I once said that to Archbishop Khai and even though he LIKED facing the people more, he nodded in agreement.
You so often speak of which you know not!
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
Moreover, it’s the Catholic Church, anyway. Roman rite, among many rites, all within our beautiful “universal, according to the whole, kata holos” Church.
The way max used it, whether he meant to or not, is usually used by people, historically the enemies from without (English apostasy) or within, who are trying to slur the Church, akin to calling it papist or romish. It’s a comment about the Church being synonymous with the rock, St. Peter, having an organized epicenter at the Vatican, and being the domain of non-WASP Italians. It’s a bad habit we Americans have inherited from the Brits from way back.
There is no such thing as a Novus Ordo Church. Saying this is based on a heresy. There is One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
Are you kidding me? Of course there is such thing! Novus Ordo means the new order mass, from the little Latin I know, or something like that….then you have the Latin Mass which is not new but in Latin…..it is not heretical to point out the obvious! All this disorder in the church is because of sin!
this talk about “two CHURCHES” is just plain silly — if you belive the CREED we profess at MASS.
“i believe in ONE HOLY, CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH…”
we mere mortals don’t get to divide CHRIST’S CHURCH into cliques for our own preferences…latin versus english and all that stuff.
this yapping about “various CHURCHES” reminds me of the radicals who attack the “official CHURCH” or the “hierarchical CHURCH” as if there were several itsy bitsy CHURCHES running around fighting with one another.
as opposed to the prayer of JESUS: “that they may all be one…”
MERRY ADVENT! :)
Right, k, and Lady Godiva was fully dressed as well as the king who wore no clothes. Keep your positive thinking images in front of your eyes and you’ll do just fine … until you run the red light, that is.
max, great to hear that you now recognize all churches as the one holy catholic and apostolic church. Maybe you’ll be visiting various other parishes now, such as the scientology, eck, synagogue, hindu, mosque, ward, store front, southern baptist, dutch reformed, methodist, chiropractor, lutheran, coe, temple of light, etc.
Just wondering, maybe instead of the Orthodox Churches coming home to Rome, what is left of the Roman Church will seek refuge with the Orthodox Churches.
Who will they invite next? Satan?
i believe he’s booked for a few months…
Tracy,
Thank you. It IS very sad. Tracy when I was right in the middle of typing the post about the Catholic mother telling Archbishop Gomez about La Raza my telephone rang so I stopped typing and answered the phone. It was a young man who I have not spoken to for quite a while. I never mentioned what I was doing and all of the sudden this young man brought up the topic of Archbishop Gomez. This young man said that one of the priests that he speaks with about a vocation shared with him the fact that many of the priests in L.A. expected Archbishop Gomez to have done so much more by now. The priest told this young man that it is as if they have hit a wall. This priest said that he wrote a letter to Archbishop Gomez asking for an important particular need and that Archbishop Gomez has never responded. He said many of the priests are worn down because they are not getting the help and back up that they thought they would be getting after the damage that was done to the faith during Cardinal Mahony’s time in office.
When it was first announced that Archbishop Gomez was going to be the new Archbishop I spoke with a well respected Catholic group from Texas. I asked if we should be celebrating or weeping. He answered, “Well, time will tell so perhaps I should say celebrating but with great reservation.” I asked what he meant by that and this gentleman said that while our new Archbishop was stationed in Texas, he was friendly with Traditionalists but he NEVER cleaned house in the chancery as much as it was needed.
max,
You are right about the devil, he is booked. He has been very active this month, in fact he is traveling Catholic websites yelling disrespectfully at Catholic priests and mocking them by asking if they have been “sniffing too much incense.”
now max how would you know?
ABECA, i simply googled his calendar.
I guess you can be correct max, the computer, the internet can also be a key to great evil and the devil can use it for his use. God have mercy..that is scary…quick pray an exorcism prayer! Sprinkle holy water on your computer….I wouldn’t dare joke or even look up his evil calender! Don’t open the door to evil forces max…
Has the Archbishop given a statement about this incident? Why did he allow this to happen? I am so disappointed in him! I thought he was a sincere Catholic prelate!
The Archbishop is very busy making statements on immigration and being added to new commissions, etc. He really doesn’t have time for Los Angeles or pay attention to our schools… Remember when he arrived in LA he was quick to endorse the Cardinal’s programs. Last October he wrote in his first pastoral letter that he will be dumping Respect Life into Justice and Peace….what a convenient way to bury the politically incorrect topic of abortion and appease the pro-abortion industry.
I wonder if the Pope is sorry he appointed Archbishop Gomez. I know I am.
Well more “Springtime” from the Novus Ordonarian Vatican II Church.
Dittos to Anonymous and Max. I see this heretical reaction to V II all the time by many uber Catholics who seem to exhibit some sense of superiority to Rome and the HF and the rest of us who are familiar with the teachings of the Council. There is a nostalgia for a pre-Concilair church that never existed except in movies and on TV. I realized Archbishop Gomez was more of the same when he was virtually silent before the election, pushed the Death Penalty ban, and warmly congratulated Obama on his re-election in several forums. Very interesting how politically outspoken and active our bishops were in wanting to ban something that only executes about 1 (rather guilty) person every 10 years vs. the regular murder of innocent life on a daily basis. No mention of the pro-abortion administration, Catholic politicians or HHS mandate. One rather “nutty” priest even gave a homily saying it didn’t really mater if you voted for either candidate since by some convoluted logic, He felt abortion wasn’t an issue. Therefore it would be okay to vote for any candidate. I just see him as in ignoramus who thinks Fr. knows better than the “sheeple” in pews. Most clergy still rely on the MSM for their news which is why they are ignorant of things like the HHS mandate, and the anti-life positions of Obama, Biden. et al.
Ash, I am happy to report that you are wrong on one count. I was there and can tell you in all sincerity that the pre-Vatican II Catholic Church did indeed exist once upon a pretty wonderful time, including in movies and on television. It is not a fairy tale; the Catholic Church, based upon the teachings of Our Lord Jesus Christ, was the magnificent foundation of Western Civilization, and it is upon that foundation that the world will be saved or lost. I am sorry you obviously did not get to experience the world in the days before the work of Vatican II was used to justify so many shocking, unintended, silly, inane and shameful things, and I am grateful that God allowed me to have that experience. Your points will be much better taken if you grant that those of us whose personal testimony verifies the facts of the matter are – who knows? – possibly telling you the God’s honest truth?
Come on, you guys. Are you really surprised while reading this?
Oops!
No surprise here, although if the officials were calling a news conference for the specific purpose of supporting birth control or abortion the bishop would probably have to act. A swearing-in ceremony seems innocuous, right?
good cause,
Not “innocuous” if you know about the terrible consequences of SCANDAL!
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
Heard and seen at another LA Catholic high school….”God, our Mother,” a priest saying Mass with just a stole over his clericals, and the term Jesuit-Catholics, a priest apologizing for the Gospel reading and a staff showing their distaste for our religion by making faces and pantomimes of distain. The majority of the staff is not Catholic and they are not afraid to show their dislike for our religion because there is no consequence for them (but there is if one tries to defend Catholicism). Why is it, too, that the majority of the teachers come from LMU and all the encumbrances that institution brings (which the archbishop has also failed to reign in)?
Prayer:
Saint John Neumann, you helped organize Catholic education in the United States. Please watch over all Catholic schools and help them be a model of Christianity in their actions as well as their words. Amen
faculty members of a CATHOLIC high school mocking the CATHOLIC FAITH?
hello?
who do they think they are working for, atheists, inc.???
what a mess…
A mess it surely is, especially when students will openly argue with you about the Faith – there are many who aren’t Catholic and the majority who are, don’t know their Faith well enough (at all) to defend it. As for the staff and many (most) of the teachers, they came from LMU where the Faith isn’t as important as social justice issues.
We speak of all the heathens placed in office. They did not just walk in and assumed their official seats but were elected to do so by the majority of voters in this state. Many progressives who support antiCatholic policies received a significant amount of “catholic” votes that secured them in their respective positions. We need to take good look at ourselves and our so-called Catholic brethren and ask why are we on a self-destruct mode.
Politicians celebrating at Catholic schools, and Catholic bishops celebrating at public schools: There is a metaphor in one of the Wisdom books about a prince sitting backwards in his saddle.
When will it be understood the U S bishops are no longer representatives of the Roman Catholic Church? They represent the new religion humanly designed by Vatican II and have done all they can do to destroy the time Immemorial Latin Mass and Sacred Tradition. Only 10% of teachers in parochial schools follow the teachings of Holy Mother the Church in regards to birth controlling and teach sexualized catechetics in their schools – a dangerous place for our youth. See motherswatch.net on the series, “Growing In Love”. It is very graphic in sexual details and has an imprimatur. Silence is NOT GOLDEN in this matter.
I read through this reference. The bishops actually signed off on this?!?!?! It remains interesting having come from outside the Catholic Church environs in that I find Catholics possessed with the idea that “fun” only correlates with sexual behavior. This perverted educational guide only amplifies this Sodom and Gomorrah level deception. Maybe some day almost all the bishops will be eliminated, so that the Church can once again thrive. Most of them seem to have morphed from the religion of Catholicism to that of “the world, the flesh, and the devil”. They get their jollies apparently from “lust of the eye, lust of the flesh, and the pride of life”: Totally given over to vanity, and wallowing in all sin. Our Lady of Fatima was obviously not kidding.
Do not be fooled by words. The reality is and the results are just the opposite. Sincerity is marked by the mandated sexualized curriculums given to youth in bishops’ schools and the loss of faith of graduates from claimed Catholic universities and colleges. Both are deplorable.
They’re replacing traditional farm life with fantasy imitations. Children grew up for thousands of years on farms and would see the farm animals reproduce one another. That is nature. Now without this farm life and with most kids growing up in TV land and the fantasy land of schools today, nature is replaced by whatever perversions can be drummed up … and the monkey see monkey do bishops sign off on it. Welcome to the Beast of the Apocalypse.
This makes me sick. But it is not at all surprising.
In September 2010 following the ‘Labor Day’ Mass at the L.A. Cathedral, then gubernatorial candidate Brown, Nancy Pelosi and a host of local and statewide PRO-ABORT DEMOCRAT POLITICIANS gathered at the CATHEDRAL CONFERENCE CENTER for a CALIFORNIA DEMOCRAT PARTY CAMPAIGN RALLY. Was this not an outright violation of California election laws? This was reported in a few places but the story never got traction.
In fairness it should be noted that this scandalous event took place while Roger Mahony was still Archbishop; José Gomez was coadjutor at the time.
Sadly, this Archdiocese has been a great friend of pro-abort Democrat politicians for at least 25 years.
Another scandalous example was the late Congressman Ed Roybal’s funeral at the same cathedral. The first Latino elected to Congress and longtime pro-abort Democrat, Roybal was effectively ‘canonized’ by the priest-celebrant of the funeral Mass (‘Roybal’s in a better place …’). Present at the Mass were notorious pro-abort ‘Catholic’ politicians who went forward to receive Holy Communion.
Lord, have mercy!
