The archbishop of Tijuana, Francisco Moreno Barron, announced the death of Icmar Arturo Orta in a statement issued yesterday.
In a statement he explained that the vehicle was impacted against a slope of land, while the body showed several injuries caused by firearms.
The governor did not confirm whether the pastor’s murder was related to organized crime, but shared that “there are important data that could help clarify this crime.”
The archbishop told the parishioners of San Luis Rey de Francia that “the death of Father Arturo is a very great loss for our archdiocese, but above all it is a grief for you who were the parish community, for you who continue to be the parish community, because he continues alive in the midst of you.
“You are going to keep him alive in your mind and heart.
“That the holiest Virgin, Our Lady of Loreto, the holy patron of our archdiocese, accompanies you in this sad moment and that the care and intercession of the patron saint, San Luis king of France stays with you.”
From an Oct. 15 story in Tijuana’s Zeta.
RIP!
Father you have fought a good fight of faith.
If I’m reading the Zeta story correctly [my Spanish is rudimentary], the cause of death was gunshot wounds.
