The following comes from a July 24 story on CaliforniaWatchdog
Is the fourth time the charm for Gov. Jerry Brown’s presidential aspiration?
The question may well have more to do with politics at the national level than the state level. Believe it or not, a fresh round of chatter and interest is springing up around the idea of yet another presidential run for Brown.
With a strong headwind going into his bid for an unprecedented fourth term as governor, Brown has demonstrated a few key characteristics that would make him a viable option for Democrats. He’s broadly popular. His base of political power is stable. He’s got name recognition. And he’s not lacking on executive experience.
But that’s just the beginning of the speculation surrounding Brown. Earlier this year, he dismissed a presidential run outright, telling the Los Angeles Times it was “not in the cards” — “unfortunately.” More recently he’s changed his tune, however cryptically.
In an interview with the Washington Post, Brown complicated the picture considerably.
First, he reaffirmed that Hillary Clinton has an overwhelming advantage going into 2016. “She has this if she wants,” he said.
But then he said, perhaps strangely, that it would be “a little silly” for him to sit on the sidelines if “no one runs.”
Finally, he added that primary races for president are “never good for general elections.” That view is shared in every election year by every party establishment that controls the White House. It’s also evident that, if Clinton did pass on a White House run, other Democrats would take the bait.
Likely candidates range from big-name figures popular with the base, such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren, to lesser-known names with a less activist reputation, such as Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley. Even Vice President Joe Biden is thought to hold out interest in a run….
The man called “Gov. Moonbeam” by his detractors has seen it all. He first sought his party’s presidential nomination in 1976, then tried again in 1980.
In 1992, he made exactly the kind of trouble Democrats want to avoid in 2016, trash-talking rival Bill Clinton, and winning enough primaries to create a headache at the national convention. There, he refused to accept the party platform composed by Clinton’s allies, instead rolling out his own document. Its central theme? “Our democratic system has been the object of a hostile takeover engineered by a confederacy of corruption, careerism and campaign consulting.”
That’s a message far more resonant with the contemporary political landscape than anything to be heard from Hillary Clinton. Activists on the right and the left have put it at the top of their own agendas.
Returning to serve as California’s governor required a long, humble climb. Now, however, he’s paid the kind of political dues that party establishments require in order to appreciate a candidate’s stubbornness and idiosyncrasies.
Thanks to his long track record, his media-friendly career narrative, and his party credibility in a thin field without Clinton, Brown is beginning to receive genuine attention. A growing share of California commentators, from Breitbart to the Sacramento Bee, see him as plausible candidate and a clear alternative to Clinton.
At the national level, cable fixtures like MSNBC’s Chuck Todd feel the same. The door is opening for longtime allies of Brown’s to float his name as a contender.
Former Senator Gary Hart, for instance — another mainline yet atypical Democrat who came of political age in the anti-establishment ’70s — told the Washington Post not to “rule out” his “law school classmate” from days of yore. “If you pay attention to his career,” Hart said, “you see that he does very unexpected things.”

Must be a slow day at the office. Realistically, Governor Brown would be 78 at a 2017 inauguration. Yes seniors have a lot to offer. But I think the Dems will be able to find someone under 60 if Mrs. Clinton chooses not to run.
If Moonbeam and His ‘Beard’ – Annie Ole Gust, do become Co-Presidents; does that mean that Gov. Lt. Gravid Nuisance becomes boss of CA without having to actually campaign for the job – or have an affair with his new campaign managers wife?
Or can he just satisfy the requirement by having an ‘affair’ with any ole subordinate – with or without a reported “Substance Abuse Problem” – regardless of whether the ole greasy rich kid Gravid himself shares it?

BTW – Given Newsom’s proud public endorsement by Larry Brinkin last time around, is the blessing of Larry & Senator Mark “Kiddie Porn King” Leno’s Racist Pederast Rape Posse still needed?
And does Larry still get to Keep the Week Gravid named in his honor?
SEE San Francisco’s Gay Icon Larry Brinkin Guilty of Felony Child Porn Possession: https://cnsnews.com/node/757449 ) –
How about Senator Leeland Yee and the Shrimp Boy’s Endorsement; will they have to countersign the nomination papers, supply assault weapons or simply pass the bag – on behalf of a Demicrat Machine itself unfit to pass gas?
Perhaps Gravid could just father a ‘secret’ Child with a housekeeper, if only to keep him in line during his tenure.
Ahhh Kalifornia, who dare compare?
Gee, Moonbeam has done such a bang up job as governor, why not run for President? Obama has this nation headed downward, Brown would finish the job.
Do all of these Democratic hopefuls support the INTRINSIC EVILS of Abortion, Contraception, Euthanasia, OR Homosexual Marriage ?
Based upon their actions and/or votes in public office – YES.
This means that Catholics may not vote for them and still receive Holy Communion.
“WORTHINESS to RECIEVE HOLY COMMUNION – General Principles” by Cardinal Ratzinger (Pope Benedict).
https://www.priestsforlife.org/magisterium/bishops/04-07ratzingerommunion.htm
(There is nothing proportionate in the USA to the murder (abortion) of approx. 1 MILLION innocent human beings each year).
Catholic citizens are required to VOTE – CCC 2240.
In addition review the most current GOALS of each Party – stated in both Party’s National and also State PLATFORMS.
(These can be found on the internet.)
If all choices support INTRNSIC EVILS then Catholics must vote for candidate who is the lessor of the evils.
Remind the bishops…
They are useless!!!!
Nowhere in that document does it say you cannot vote for a candidate who supports abortion. It says that politicians cannot vote for abortion, and individual citizens cannot support direct referendums that promote abortion.
This is not a mere technical difference. Voting directly for a specific is a simple and direct matter, while supporting a candidate means a general support of a wide range of issues on a platform, while simultaneously voting against another candidate with a similarly complex platform.
It is too bad there are not more parties in the American System, or at least, more parties that had a fighting chance. I disagree with a vast range of the Republican party platform, but then, there is so much I disagree with the democrats that I find myself voting against candidates, rather than for candidates.
The next President will most likely appoint the next Supreme Court Justice.
Politicians appoint Administrators and Judges based upon their own beliefs and goals.
Catholics have a REQUIREMENT to vote against politicians who support any of the INTRINSIC EVILS.at Federal, State, and Local levels.
Always vote for the lessor of the evils, when candidate choices are bad.
Catholic Clergy and Nuns should not allow themselves to be pictured with any politician who supports ANY of the Intrinsic Evils.
Catholic Bishops should not be used for political purposes.
Pictures are worth more than 1000 words.
Cardinal Dolan offered an important picture to Barack H. Obama that helped him get re-elected.
Ah, look at the smiley face next to Governor Moonbeam: Abp. Gomez. What a surprise! What a shock! What a complete and utter scandal for Catholics! Wait, wait — no shock? How can that be for a Church that fails to attract even 1/2 of its adherents to regularly attend Mass? That fails to have members who follow the Church’s sexual ethics and other directions for living a faithful life? That has a universal leadership heavily influenced by failed cardinals, such as Maradiaga, Dolan, Wuerl, Kasper and many others, the main direction of which is to continue the destruction of the little that remains of the Faithful, albeit “Medieval” Church. Stop, stop, stop. It is time for a Catholic revolution.
Yes, our bishops seem to gleefully adopt and promote the Dem policies they like until they bite them in the rear-end and wonder what went wrong. And they seem to, by-and-large, have no serious objections to their flock voting for the very candidates who do the most serious harm to the Church so long as said voters can rationalize finding a phony pony somewhere in that pile of manure.
Just think of all the CINOs and clergy who will vote for him.
(Governot) Brown tapped Chief Deputy San Francisco City Atty. Therese M. Stewart, one of the leaders’ in California court battles for gay marriage, for the San Francisco-based 1st District Court of Appeal.
Stewart, who has never been a judge, will become the state’s first openly lesbian justice.
All of Brown’s appointments to the appellate court are expected to be confirmed by the Commission on Judicial Appointments, which is headed by Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye.
The other two members who will vote on the new justices are Atty. Gen. Kamala D. Harris and a senior presiding justice of the appellate court for which the candidate has been nominated.
State Court of Appeal justices earn $207,463 a year.

God, our Creator, is over all things. He sees all things, and knows all things. And He sees YOU– if you decide, as a Catholic– to “vote for the lesser of the two evils,” in any election, in which every single candidate is IMMORAL!! There is NO SUCH THING– as the so-called “lesser of two evils,” when it comes to Christian morality! Especially, grave MORTAL SINS, like Abortion, Euthanasia, Contraception, Pre-marital Sex, Pornography, and Same-Sex “Marriage!” (ETC.) We are all obliged to ABSTAIN FROM VOTING, in such cases! One must NEVER give one’s vote to any candidate who is AGAINST GOD, in any way, shape , or form!! This is a misuse of the privilege of voting! One can also write letters, informing political parties and candidates of one’s views, and urge them to change their immoral ways!
Why is Archb. Gomez standing next to Gov. Brown? Why is Gov. Brown on the cover of the Diocesan paper? Is he being honored for some good work? Pix such as these give the impression that the Church favors the pro-abortionist Catholic governor and his policies. If Gov. Moonbeam does run for prez would the Church officials support him? Looks like.
You’re right, Sarah.
But I’m thinking the answer is because the faithful tolerate it. While Church law requires we support the clergy, I think it is often forgotten that that law of the Church is in place because Our Lord has said, “…for the labourer is worthy of his hire,” when sending out the 72 to preach the Gospel, whole and entire.
I wonder what kind of response there would be if the faithful withdrew their financial support in correlation with the woefully pathetic results of the recent Church survey that indicates the vast amount of Catholics who do not know, adhere to, or even want to know what the Church actually teaches.
If donations decreased say 82% because 82% of Catholics (and that’s Catholics in the pews) do not understand or accept Catholic morality, there may be an exceedingly abrupt response. I chose the figure at random, but if donations were regulated according to orthodoxy and adherence for ‘teachers’ to teach what the Church actually teaches, there would be change.
Lord, please send us holy bishops and priests who will speak the Truth, teach Catholics the reality of our so-called politicians who vote for so many evils these past 30-40 years. Ignoring or contradicting Humanae Vitae and keeping quiet when abortion was legalized, lest that tax exemption be taken away, has brought us so much bad fruit, rotten fruit. We have holy priests who need to be promoted to positions of leadership in our Church in the USA. Who is in charge of recommending good, holy priests, to the Holy Father?
Sarah,
EXACTLY!

Why do the Bishops and Cardinals of the Roman Catholic Church continue to consort with pro-death politicians? Our Lord and Redeemer Jesus Christ met with these types of evil public figures but he ostracized them when he did it. I will never forget Cardinal Dolan yucking it up and glad handing Barack Hussein Obama at the Al Smith Catholic Dinner.
There’s enough cafeteria Catholics in this nation to vote for anyone wearing the Demoncratic Label. Why not Brown? He couldn’t be a deacon or a Eucharistic Minister in our church, but President? Why not? How many folks could he lead into the wide path that he is already on?
