Jimmy Carter now a pro-lifer?

The following excerpts come from an April 11 story on LifeSiteNews.com

Leader of former President Jimmy Carter’s longtime denomination say his calls for the Democratic Party to adopt a less radical pro-choice platform is a political calculation to help the party in the South.

“I never have believed that Jesus Christ would approve of abortions,” Carter told talk show host Laura Ingraham, while promoting his new study Bible. “I’ve signed a public letter calling for the Democratic Party at the next convention to espouse my position on abortion which is to minimize the need…and limit it only to women whose life are in danger or who are pregnant as a result of rape or incest.”

“I think if the Democratic Party would adopt that policy that would be acceptable to a lot of people who are now estranged from our party because of the abortion issue,” he said.

The political context, and the shift in Carter’s views since leaving the presidency, have made Southern Baptist leaders question his sincerity.

“What he’s doing is making a political calculation,” Dr. Richard Land told LifeSiteNews.com. “It isn’t a moral decision about abortion. This is a political decision.”

Dr. Land, who has served as president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission since 1988, said the issue “is killing the Democrats in the South” and that “Jimmy understands this. He understands the reason they lost the South is not the civil rights movement; it’s the abortion movement.”

The former president’s unease may be heightened by the strong showing pro-life activist Randall Terry made in the Democratic presidential primaries, beating President Obama in 14 counties in Oklahoma. Ingraham noted Carter was the last Democrat to carry every state in the South….

“They are people who were raised Southern Baptist in the case of Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton but don’t really believe what Southern Baptists believe anymore but who want to nostalgically yearn for being called Southern Baptists,” Dr. Land said.

“I am in no position to judge Jimmy Carter’s soul or his relationship, to the extent that he may or may not have one, with Christ,” [another Baptist leader] said. “However, I can look at what Jimmy Carter has done in defense of the gross bastardization of a God-inspired institution, marriage, and the 55 million children who have been slaughtered since Roe v. Wade, and I can say without a doubt those [positions] are an affront to the clear, unequivocal words of Scripture.”

A ho stole a baby from a woman and claimed it as her own. The two disputants went before the king, who decided to resolve the dispute by slicing the baby in half, one part for each woman. The ho agreed, but the real mother begged the king to give the whole baby to the ho so as to save its life. Jimmuh has claimed the real mother’s baby for his own.

Everybody, please read the entire story and thank God that hardly anybody in this world actually listens to what that mindless ex-president has to say. He does sound so much like Pelosi and Obama, when it comes to messing up God’s Holy Word. How many of us can remember that when he lost (thank God) his re-election, there was a “peanut” shortage, which caused the price of peanut butter to go up and there hasn’t been another shortage since? Gave us the feeling to go out and to buy “Billies Beer” to drown in our sorrows. Sorry, you young folks don’t know about this as it was hidden from the History books. +JMJ+

Newt Gingrich’s conversion to Roman Catholicism: a political calculation to increase his popularity with Hispanic voters?

Well, in all fairness, President Carter did refuse to allow Medicaid funds to be used for abortions for poor women, on the grounds that he was pro-life. I don’t remember his exact words, but he said to this effect: “there are many things rich people can afford that the poor cannot. It is not the government’s role to equalize THIS particular disparity.” Again, words to that effect. He took a lot of heat from the left over that–including from people in his own administration.

The Democratic Party has become the biggest Habitat for Inhumanity. This is another example of those who speak out of both sides of their mouth. “Jimmy Carter has made a cottage industry of twisting Scripture to say the exact opposite of what it says.” No Mr. Carter, you are not fooling anyone. No man can serve two masters. You are not thirsting for the truth, you are lusting for votes.

What is so sad is that Carter is a Christian, or says he is, and should have been a pro-life advocate, without all the loopholes large enough to drive a truck through, from the very beginning. If he really believes Jesus Christ would not approve of abortions, let him say so to the DNC, Obama, and straight to the MSM, and not just conservative talk show host Laura Ingraham, where his comments likely will not be noticed by Fox haters. As penance for his role in the abortion holocaust, let him pay a price for this new-found insight. It seems only right and proper, given his former position as POTUS.

God Bless Dr. Richard Land for his comments. “And the truth shall set you free”. We pray that former presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton will take to heart what Dr. Land has to say regarding abortion and the 55 million children who have been slaughtered since Roe Vs. Wade has been made a law of our land.
