Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California will hold a livestreamed conversation Wednesday, August 18th at 5:30pm PT to discuss what is at stake for sexual and reproductive health care if next month’s recall attempt is successful and California ends up with a Republican extremist as Governor. Jodi Hicks, President/CEO of PPAC, will be joined by Planned Parenthood Action Fund President Alexis McGill Johnson and California’s Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom for an important conversation about the landscape of sexual and reproductive health care across the country and how California fits in.

2021 has been a historically bad year for reproductive rights, as states across the country take harmful and dangerous action to restrict access to abortion, sexual and reproductive health care, and more. Just last month, the Republican Attorney General from Mississippi asked the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade (backed by 228 Congressional Republicans, Republican Senators, and Republican Governors – including Republicans from California).

Thankfully, California — under the leadership of Governor Newsom and the state legislature — has a long track record of protecting reproductive freedom. However, that progress is now at risk with the recall in September.

That risk is why Planned Parenthood affiliates across California are mobilizing and educating supporters – urging a NO vote on Question #1 of the recall ballot.
