“I did not accuse you, I asked a question,” Rosen said. “Rep. Collins suggested yesterday that the Democrats are doing this simply because they don’t like the guy, I think it is an important point.”
“I think the president is a coward when it comes to helping our kids, who are afraid of gun violence,” Pelosi said, returning to the podium. “I think he is cruel when he doesn’t deal with helping our DREAMers, of whom we are very proud. I think he is in denial about the Constitution — about the climate crisis.”
“However, that’s about the election,” she continued. “Take it up in the election. This [impeachment] is about the Constitution of the United States and the facts that lead to the president’s violation of his oath of office. And as a Catholic, I resent your using the word hate in a sentence that addresses me. I don’t hate anyone… I pray for the president all the time. So, don’t mess with me when it comes to words like that.”

The Constitution as written doesn’t say anything about abortion or regulating it but specific gives us our right to Life liberty and pursuit of happiness. And liberty is/was never interpreted to include the right to kill another.

1) The 14 amendment speaks of what states (and the United States) may not deprive people of. It is not peaking about individuals.
2) Personhood begins at birth, according to our laws, therefore, again, the 14th amendment doesn’t pertain to the unborn under our law.
3) You can’t just go around changing important things like the Preamble. Besides which, it is not actually an enforceable part of the Constiution.
4) The tenth amendment says that rights not given to the federal government are reserved to the states or the people. Keeping with “liberty” and protections around it like the explicit prohibitions against searches and seizures, arise the notion of privacy. What is private and personal is protected from regulation, and certainly that includes the most intimate and personal decisions one makes, so long as those decisions do not harm or remove rights from any individual.
5) The Supreme Court decided that the Constitution guarantees a woman the right to have an abortion. If you believe the Supreme Court got it wrong, the remedy is to amend the Constiution. This is just basic civics and is part of the system of checks and balances that was part of the genius of the American democracy.
Ronnie, fetuses are not citizens. They are not coutned in the census. A pregnant woman isn’t entitled to a child income tax credit. They were never part of the aportionment claus. In most cases of abortion these days, the embryo hasn’t even been implanted and is therefore not even a pregnancy, and most cases of abortion are spontaneous not even induced. I’m sorry, but if you want to change any of that you have to amend the Constiution.

Read the 10th Amendment: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited to it by the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the People.” There is no right to abortion in the Constitution. (Do you really think Adams, Jefferson and others were addressing abortion in the Constitution?) Do you agree with all Supreme Court decisions (Dred Scott on slavery, for example)? They are not infallible. Some have been overturned, as Roe v. Wade may be. (No need to amend the Constitution, though not a bad idea. Simply overturn wrong decisions like Roe, as Roe herself later said!) I think I actually passed Civics 101 (with my undergraduate studies and years as a peace officer).

Yes, voting for people who would be put into office that deny the truths of GOD are committing serious sin unless they are so uninformed that they don’t know better. The Lord is quite merciful when people are ignorant but with all the access to information these days it is hard to be ignorant of the facts, who is who, and what the Catechism and the bible teach. We know what the democrat’s agenda is basically. Now, I will say that there are probably democratic politicians that moral and who have a clean voting record. We cannot Judge the last end (heaven or hell), only God can do that. But we can judge behavior. And all her votes and comments on the two things I mentioned above are mortal sins. Mortal sin separates us from God. Unrepentant mortal sins leads one to hell.
I’m not sure where you get the idea that a political opinion undoes one’s Baptism. When you say that someone is no longer Catholic, you say that there Baptism is repealed. Where do you find support for that notion in any Scripture, Church teaching, or Canon Law?

An example: One young woman was living in sin with her boyfriend. When visiting, she make comments about homosexuals. Other than Jesus, I am not aware of any Christian that is without sin. Ann, this is true! In the 20th century, man destroyed the planet Earth, all for “scientific progress” and greed! Our once-beautiful oceans, waterways, land, and air, have all been tragically polluted and destroyed! Many once-thriving plant and animal species are now gone, extinct! Many people have died of chemically-caused diseases– including cancer! Many city-dwellers are advised now, to wear face masks, for healthy lungs, on heavy air pollution days! I am not sure about climate change (I have read many different things on this topic!) Anyway– man has to answer to God, for his misdeeds!
So, one question we must all deal with is: can you be a Catholic and still believe that a woman has the right to choose to have a baby or not. Can a woman choose not to have a baby if it is the result of incest or rape, or imminent death if carried to term? Those are questions, not statements. Can a person tell the world they choose life, but not do anything for the hungry, the poor, those in prisons because of their race, or that support killing, even prisoners? We may not agree with a politician’s beliefs, but that does that make him/her a non-Catholic?
Anonymous, in answer to your question, no, a person cannot be a good Catholic and believe it’s okay to murder. Of course, one in unrepented sin is still a Catholic, though Ms. Pelosi shouldn’t tout her faith for political purposes when she opposes many of the things the Church teaches. This is a free country. She is free to leave the Church (and join the Episcopalians, if she’d like) or just keep quiet instead of repeatedly insisting what a fine Catholic she is. And, your question is irrelevant when one already has a baby. And, let’s be honest, pregnancy due to rape or incest is a very, very small percentage of pregnancies. So, in answer to your question, in almost all cases, a person can choose not to have a baby by not engaging in sex. And, honestly, I do not know one pro-life person who does nothing for the hungry or poor or is a racist, as you assert. You need to get to know some people who are trying to save women and babies (and others) from abortion. Would you consider meeting some of them praying in front of your local abortion clinic during the next 40 Days for Life, for example?

Anonymous, it is never necessary to rip a child apart in the womb or burn it to death by saline if doctors are trained. Even abortionists admit that. When such dangers present themselves, the child is already developed enough for the physician to deliver it or take it by caesarian, In case of a tubal pregnancy, the Fallopian tube can be taken out with the child in it because both the mother and child would die anyway. Often now the child can be saved even in those situations.
