The following press release was issued the first week of June. 

For 38 years, San Diego’s Father Joe Carroll has selflessly and tirelessly served our community. Over the past three decades, he served as the voice of, and advocate for, the homeless population throughout Southern California.

From handing out peanut butter sandwiches at a small community chapel to establishing a nationally modeled “one-stop shop” approach to the complex issue of homelessness, his contributions to bettering the lives of our neighbors in need are truly immeasurable.

To commemorate these decades of service, please join Father Joe and his many friends throughout the community in a celebration of his life in ministry.

Talk about being Pro-Life: from what I have just read, this fine priest has followed the commandments of Jesus to help “the least of these,” whom society (and even many Churchy people) ignore completely. A brief examination of his ministry reminds me of Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who also turned her attention and energy to those on the streets.

Kindly, common-sense and, yes, holy Father Joe helps countless people and gets many, many people back on their feet and working again. He can’t go anywhere in San Diego without someone thanking him for having helped them turn their life around. His centers help many unwed moms and many families who are in need. God bless Father Joe.

Fr. Joe had a huge impact on me when I was a Boy Scout in San Diego. As the Scouts’ Catholic chaplain, him being on both of the retreats for the 2 religious emblems that I earned in the late 80s. A wonderful role-model indeed!

The many people whom you have helped so much is forever grateful and they continue to be fruitful. Like John Vianney, because you are connected to the Vine, the people whose lives you have touch will forever be fruitful. MacDonald stop snoring and sleeping so much that you have missed many other times where we had excellent articles on awesome priests, that the faithful appreciated much! Now your use of the word “attacking” is unjustified! That would be a criminal offense to attack anyone and place them in danger, haha

I know that there are more times where we read about a dissent priest and that usually gets the faithful scandalized and upset but from time to time, this website does report on good stories about good priests too! this is the kind of priesst we should be able to read about, not always the pervs who molest little boys and girlss. the eway the media mangles the cathlic news, one would htink every priest is a criminal — but in tyruth, child abuse is a HUGE SOCIETAL PROBLEM IN THE ENTIRE WORLD.
