St. Pius Parish in Redwood City has expanded First Friday hours of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in 2016 from a few hours to 24 hours.
Although well attended by the adult parishioners, time for adoration was not routinely offered to the children in the parish school. The prayer and worship commission identified the need for the children to be exposed to adoration in order to foster their participation in this means of worshipping Jesus Christ, and so a plan was developed for this to happen.
The adoration program built on an already existing “buddy system,” which has been in place for many years. The system links older parish school children with younger children to assist the younger children in various school activities.
The program includes an explanation of adoration, worship, benefits of adoration and theology of Jesus as the second person of the Holy Trinity. Adoration was followed by debriefings to provide the children with an opportunity to articulate their personal experience of the Real Presence.
All nine grades now participate in adoration, and feedback from the children to the coordinators has been positive, the parish said.

WONDERFUL!!!
LET IT BE IMPLEMENTED THROUGHOUT THE ARCHDIOCESE OF SAN FRANCISCO!!!
St. Pius is a spacious church and the high school where I once worked graduated from there. It will prove a challenge to teach kids in this highly distracted age about Eucharistic Adoration. This old teacher suggests introducing them to and reinforcing reverence at prayer from day one at Mass and in the classroom for some time before bringing them to Adoration, keeping the sessions an age-appropriate length and being patient.
That’s great to see!
I was youth minister at St. Pius back in the Middle Ages (okay, 1979-1981) and I’m encouraged to see the parish continue to reach out to young people. I’m sure Adoration will bear “good fruit” for the parish and the archdiocese.
I commend this parish for instituting Eucharistic Adoration hours for their children. I would even go as far as asking other parishes to do the same thing. It would also be providential to even institute Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration 24 hour a day 7 days a week. What tremendous blessings would go to parish communities that expanded Eucharistic Adoration. These children are now being bombarded with very graphic sexual indoctrination that can only be combated by the Real Presence of Jesus Christ King of Kings Lord of Lords True God and True Man. I would also encourage to turn to Our Lady of Good Success which is a church approved apparition from the 16th Century that predicted many things for our end times in the 20th centuary. Our…
Adoration will bring people back to the Church, increase vocations and change hearts and culture.
I was in that parish during the Monsignor Armstrong era. He was the team chaplain for the San Francisco 49ers and had five Super Bowl rings. Also, the famous actress Linda Cardellini comes from that parish.
There will be much good fruit, watch for it!
