The Catholic Church must respond more forcefully to people’s search for God, Cardinal Robert Sarah says in an interview with the French newspaper Le Figaro on July 1. “What really matters is our eternal life, our life in friendship with God. The Church exists to be saints. The rest is secondary », he recalls.
Those who deny spiritual life also reject what dignifies men and women, said the cardinal who recently published ” Catechism of spiritual life. ” “What good is our life without an interior life? What remains, what escapes the laws of the market and matter? the interlocutor of the Parisian newspaper asked rhetorically.
He criticized the fact that “we spend too much time talking about the structures of the Church. She is not interested in anyone! In his opinion, “what really matters is our eternal life, our life in friendship with God. The Church exists to be saints. The rest is secondary.
Cardinal Sarah said that people go to a priest to seek God and “not to save the planet.” She also referred to Francis’s words that the Church is not an NGO. “The day after his election, the Holy Father said that if the Church stops seeking God through prayer, it risks betrayal.” God is found mainly in the sacraments such as baptism or confession – the Cardinal recalled.
The above comes from InfoCatholico.com
Pope Francis said: “When the Church loses its pastoral nature, when a bishop loses his pastoral nature, it causes a political problem. That’s all I can say.” He said that when asked about permitting Communion for pro-abortion politicians. Yet, he regularly speaks about climate science, borders and other social, political and scientific issues. It seems Archbishop Cordileone’s statements are more pastoral, about the killing of innocent children and the souls of those promoting such. Why the selective, vague criticism of those like Archbishop Cordileone? “That’s all I can say.” What does that mean? He is the Pope and has spoken out frequently in interviews with reporters and on airplanes about a variety of issues. (Not that I recommend that, but, what’s stopping him now?) Pray for all of our bishops. And, support those worthy of support.
Has he said to deny Communion to any politician anywhere for any reason?
I don’t think we can have friendship with God and be enemies to God’s creation.
not if the creation has turned on the Creator, your statement is just another leftist admonishment. The Church has enemies deal with it
Utter stupidity
Environmentalism and clean energy are fraud science designed to make people economic slaves and subjugate them to the power of government and corporate interests.
Perfectly said, there is a vested interest in this green BS, and the ruling elite hold all of it
Sounds like a true owner of Exxon stock!
Actually I am sympathetic to the working class, who work in the industry, unlike the elites who care little for them or their jobs
bohemond, we might actually agree on something! The “elites” who own stock and the corporate higher-ups make an awful lot more than the workers. This has always been true, but has become exceptionally true since the destruction of the unions starting in the 1980s. Oil field workers are paid very well, but when the sacrifices and dangers of the job are taken into consideration, it’s not nearly enough, IMHO.
You might end up liking solar and wind. Wind requires highly skilled technicians to install and maintain them, very well paying jobs. Solar installation is also a boom market for installation contractors. Sadly, we’ve let China eat our lunch on their manufacture.
The working/middle class was sold a bill of goods by “free market conservatives” who said free trade would help everyone. Nonsense it helped the elites both government and corporate, but the little guy saw his well paying job get shipped to China. All of this green BS is part of the great reset to further destroy the middle class around the world. Looks whats going on in Holland where the government is going to appropriate the farmers land to reduce nitrate usage in the name of climate change. These idiotic elites are willing to create food shortages in the name of their green religion. The fallacy of the green energy can be easily seen in Texan a state flush with oil when 2 winters ago a cold snap shut down there windmills and people were without power for weeks. These politically motivated movement to destroy an industry (fossil fuel) that benefits the middle class. If you want to know why I hate as much as I do this part of the reason
The Cardinal is correct. We need to find God! That doesn’t mean that we can’t do other things that are good. It isn’t a zero-sum game. Hundreds of verses in the Bible call us to care for the earth. What do we know? We know that the earth is in a period of change. We know that man causes some fraction of that change and speeds it along. That is a fact, not an opinion. It is a fact that fossil fuels put junk into the air and that contributes to speeding up the earth’s change for the worse. Caring for the environment is not Red or Blue, but it is a demand from God. We do it almost every day without thinking; we separate our recyclables from our garbage or trash. We grow flowers in the yard that contribute to cleaner air. We buy cars that get more miles to the gallon. What if we didn’t use fossil fuels for cars and trucks? It couldn’t hurt.
What if we used solar panels on the roof of houses to reduce the need for power from fossil fuel plants? It couldn’t hurt. It is not a political statement to want to treat the earth better. It is the wish of God. I couldn’t hurt.
For some reason, I could not give you a thumbs up on what you said, Bob One. Perhaps it was my fault, I do not know, but we do need more win-win situations, instead of either, or.
“What if we didn’t use fossil fuels for cars and trucks? It couldn’t hurt.” spoken like a true coastal elite…and his mantras. The shutting down of fossil fuel industry has always been the dreams of people like Bob One. It would decimate the economy in untold levels, his type car little for working people who depend on this industry for a living. And no Bob One there are no equal good paying jobs in your “green economy” the technology simply isn’t there. There is vested interest by the elites who have million invested in this “green technology” who want to get rid of the oil and gas industry. And yes Bob One it is political statement to want to treat the earth better, because everything your side does and says is for increase of their political power. We are now suffering under a regime of lunatics whose main goal is to crush the middle class with high gas price and overall inflation.. I will take mean tweets any day of the week over this incompetent senile fool who is charge
bohemond, take the long view. Getting rid of fossil fuels won’t happen our lifetime, but twenty or thirty years from now almost all cars will be new-energy. Putting solar on the rooves of new homes will reduce the need for building many more power plants over the next couple of decades. There was a time when old technology ruled the world but doesn’t exist anymore. Take the long view. There is no politics here, just science. Change is happening so fast that Tesla is now the second-largest manufacturer of new-energy vehicles. Ford’s new pickup truck is run on new energy and is stronger, and mightier that the gas engine version. Change is hard, but if you work at it …
Expose the fraud of “green energy”.
“What if we used solar panels on the roof of houses to reduce the need for power from fossil fuel plants? It wouldn’t hurt, ba ha ha ha ha see how well they work on cold cloudy day in the Northeast, see how much that would hurt. Bob One you believe anuything the ruling elites tell you
I agree with you a lot. Having recycled all my life and being brought up with the waste not, want not philosophy, truly “my cup runneth over”, and out the door and down the street. (Laughter.) as I am now in the process of de cluttering my house (giving away really good stuff while buying new things I really need.) Our farmers need fertilizer and supposedly excess food we put in a certain recycle bin is going for that. Hopefully we will buy less fertilizer from other countries and help our own farmers. Deciding where things go is fun too, whether to family, friends, a thrift shop or to women for job interviews.
My point is that we need different types of fuel — both fossil and solar. Monopolies are never good. People need choices they can afford for their families and decent jobs. My husband and I use mostly fossil type, but some of our things, such as calculators are solar. We also need to follow God’s Commandments such as Cardinal Sarah says — and we will have “none of these diseases” for the most part as Leviticus says. Countries are better being self-sufficient as much as possible. It’s a win-win situation.
You are not dealing in true reality, we can’t live without fossil fuels. Your green energy including solar panels have negative environmental consequences as well, there is no free ride.
People pick out a few words to argue about and miss the whole point.
Did you read the story about the couple who bought an electric truck and had to stop to charge it every 100 miles on a 2,700 mile road trip?
So-called green energy is a scam. It’s not efficient. It’s wasteful. It’s not environmentally friendly. Look at how much pollution is caused and energy is expended by mining the lithium for batteries. Green elitists are the worst.
