The following comes from an October 30 story posted on LifeSiteNews.
President Barack Obama has released his fifth campaign commercial attacking Mitt Romney on the issue of abortion.
The new ad, entitled “What He’ll Do,” compiles a montage of instances when Romney said that he would like to see the Supreme Court overturn Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision that struck down many states’ prohibitions on abortion.
It also highlights his pledge to end federal funding for Planned Parenthood.
“No matter what Mitt Romney’s ads say, we know what he’ll do,” the female narrator says.
As the economy continues to sputter, and with his signature policy accomplishment ObamaCare deeply unpopular, the president has turned to abortion as a wedge issue to increase the turnout of single female voters, a heavily Democratic constituency.
NARAL Pro-Choice America president Nancy Keenan says she has identified five million “Obama defectors” – women who voted for the president in 2008 but have changed their minds. Three million are in swing states.
“We have gone into battleground states and counties that are going to make the difference – by literally 1 percent, or a half-percentage point,” Keenan said.
Part of the strategy has been to dispatch Sandra Fluke as a surrogate. The San Francisco Chronicle reported that Fluke spoke to a standing room only crowd at a NARAL fundraiser in California. However, neither California nor NARAL voters are being contested. At a rally in the swing state of Nevada, Fluke drew a crowd of 10.

FIRE OBAMA please and offer up prayers this weekend for this intention! We pray for a miracle!
Please let’s follow Abeca’s suggestion.
Pray for a miracle that Obama will lose the election.
Save our Country – under God.
Pray the Rosary.
I believe that by the grace of God, Obama WILL lose this election. Not only that–but he’ll lose it big, and lose it quick. I think we’ll know it just as fast as we did the night that Jimmy Carter went down to defeat at the hands of Ronald Reagan. Maybe even before.
No surprise that Sandra Fluke is a point person for the Obama/NARAL/Planned Parenthood abortion/contraception agenda. This is the same Fluke who was supported by Georgetown Univ faculty and Cardinal Dolan after Rush Limbaugh made his comments about her. Yes, the weekend after Rush’s controversy Dolan was asked outside St Patricks to comment on what Rush said. Rush is a BIG supporter of orthodox Catholicism but instead of responding “no comment” Dolan proceeded to trash Rush to the reporter. This man needs a big dose of common sense!
Liberals are liars, no matter what kind of collar they wear.
Was interested in what you said about Cardinal Dolan. Looked it up and all he said was no matter how strongly Limbaugh felt or anyone for that matter to do and say things civilly and with charity.
jcross, your quote of what Cdl Dolan said amounts to telling Limbaugh to shut up and everyone else to ignore him: that is called “trashing” him …. and not only that, it is called arrogance. Cdl Dolan has no authority to tell the world to shut up. The Cdl is tasked by God to preach the Gospel, not to sell the lives of unborn babies for cash flow for his charity programs.
With approx 1 MILLION innocent babies being slaughtered per year in the USA we are supposed to discuss civilly and with charity?
1. Limbaugh is not a Catholic; 2. Limbaugh does not live in his Diocese or State. 3) This is none of Dolan’s business.
Where is the chastisement of Andrew Cuomo, Carolyn Kennedy, Joe Biden, etc ?
At the photo-op Al Smith Dinner – Cardinal Dolan was not just civil but laughing hystierically while sitting next to the biggest baby killer this Country has ever known. And behind the dias was seated Chris Matthews and Katie Couric – huge Obama supporters.
Only an idiot would think the dinner could change Obama’s mind about the HHS mandate.
Someone recently posted – would Cardinal Dolan invite Obama to dinner for an evening of frivolity and charity if he was tearing off the limbs and sucking out the brains of his brother Bishops ? ? ?
Are these innocent babies less than a Bishop?
I don’t tend to like these dinners where rich people get together to make jokes about each other and troubling social issues. The presidential press dinner does the same thing. This is a fundraiser and so as usual they can all get along to make money and then it’s back to business as usual.
jcross Cardinal Dolan speaks as if he has no idea what this spiritual war is all about. To me Cardinal Dolan’s comments are not helpful, how can we always expect conservatives not finally speak up when the liberals are truly using their tops guns! We can’t wimp out anymore, being polite isn’t saving babies anymore…last I heard abortions are still going on and growing….around the world!
jcross – I will bet you that C Dolan never heard the whole context of which Rush Limbaugh made his comments. If you heard the whole presentation Rush made about Fluke you could see he was using his unique brand of getting across the point that Fluke was demanding that the taxpayers should pay for her contraception, aka her sex life, whatever that may be. The Obama media used just a couple words that were said, as they usually do, to attack Rush who they hate. I will also bet that all Dolan heard about was the couple selected words the left wing media used. So Dolan was baited by a reporter, Dolan responded without probably knowing the whole story (he went with the media gossip version) and made his correction about a person who isn’t even Catholic which is none of his business. Does Dolan comment about all the totally uncivil and uncharitable attacks made by Obama/Biden/democrat party? I haven’t heard of any. Why is Dolan so selective? I follow the old axiom that you don’t go out of your way to attack your supporters and give ammunition to the enemy. Not smart!
Why are people always ascribing ignorance to bishops, and the more ignorance the higher on the totem pole??? “Know the Truth and the Truth shall set you free”: In that they seem to be always trapped, it would indicate that they do not know the Truth. Is this due to ignorance that they have from tricky reporters? Jesus answered all the reporters (scribes) and the pharisees and sadducees also, and never blew it. But in Catholicdom what I find is this myth thing about bishops being ignorant because they are lied to or tricked or their administrative duties preclude reality. If they’d do as the Pope says and become holy, then they’d have the right answers and make the right decisions regardless … because of the guarantee and because of the Holy Spirit: Get it? “Holy” Spirit. Why would Holy unite with non-holy? And how would non-holy survive against tricky journalists … without becoming one of them? The bishops wear blood red, because that is their “job”.
JLS – Right on! If Bishop X responds to set up questions just based on how reporter Y presents the question without knowing the whole story and its context, isn’t that what they call being ‘slothful’? Why would one be so trustful of what reporter Y says? Why isn’t Bishop X skeptical of the motives of reporter Y? Does Bishop X just want to see his name and picture on TV or in the paper? Does that make Bishop X feel more important? Does the chest of Bishop X get more prideful being in front of the cameras surrounded by Schumer, Obama, Couric, Cuomo, Bloomberg, Mathews, etc, pretty heady stuff? Whenever I am approached and questioned by a stranger the bells and whistles in my head go off and I frequently respond with “who, what, where, and why”. I will start to question the stranger to determine what their real motivation is, are they being truthful. Unless they are asking for directions I become ‘Mr Skeptic’. So why does Bishop X just blurt out a response to the question posed, is he that easy? Or was Bishop X more than grateful that he was able to “trash” someone he doesn’t like? Bishop X had NO problem skipping a pro-life dinner in State W because the main speaker was a problematic well known pro-life woman. Obviously Bishop X appears to have a ‘don’t like’ list.
jcross – Another question for you. Who defines civility? Barack Obama? In late summer ’09 members of Congress had town hall meetings at which many citizens were concerned about the impending Obamacare legislation. A prominent very liberal bishop had a meeting with his Alinskyite faith network cronies to discuss whatever was their latest interests to advocate. This bishop brought up the “lack of civility” shown by these Americans who were exercising their constitutional right to redress their government. These Alinskyites discussed this “lack of civility” for a long time at this get together. These good Americans were ‘uncivil’ exercising their rights? The Bill of Rights, Amendment 1, says “the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances”, that’s the freedom of speech/religion right which those good people were exercising which this bishop called ‘uncivil’. These Americans were ‘peaceable’ at these town halls, no raping/pillaging/burning happened. So who gets to define what is UNCIVIL?
It also highlights his pledge to end federal funding for Planned Parenthood.
This confirms my vote for Romney.
This is what happens when the “Shepherds” are “missing in action”!
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
Well said Kenneth.
Their crossiers are made of paper mache’.
Obama is sounding more shrill and desperate every day. Why debate the issues on their own merits when you can go after the candidate personally? In this case, it is because Obama’s pro-abortion position is insupportable. It’s hard to stand up in favor of murdering innocent Americans when the president’s duty is first and foremost to protect the lives of all Americans; it’s so much easier to make a thoughtful opponent who considers topics anew and sometimes comes to different conclusions than to rally support for the pro-death position and promote murdering babies as a good thing.
When you are desperate, what do you do? If you are practically totally evil, you call upon the ‘father of all lies’ to help you. That is what Obama has done. He is a horrible man who will say anything it takes to win the White House again. Empty promises, false statements, deception, etc are vices he constantly practices. Romney is not perfect, but in this case, as Pope Pius XII would have said, the lesser of two evils must be elected so that wickedness personified will not win.
Thank you Fr. Karl. I absolutely agree. Obama is trying to win the White House by promoting the slaughter of the innocent and is completely selling the American people to satan in the process. Thank you for your priesthood Father and may God Bless you.
MD,
Not only that, have you read of how persons are complaining about how they punched in Romney on their electronic voting machines in Ohio and the machine read Obama?
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
One news story a few weeks ago claimed that the voting machines are manufactured in Europe. Maybe George Soros programs them himself.
Fr Karl – There is a very well known bishop who published at least 8 supportive articles in his diocesan newspaper on Obama leading up to the ’08 election. He put the picture of Obama with Pope Benedict on the front page of his paper. He published an article supportive of Obama partying with Card Dolan a couple weeks ago in same paper. Since Jan 20th he has published NO articles from him attacking the HHS mandate in his paper, just a couple marshmallow articles about the mandate buried in the middle of his paper. There have been no articles about any presidential candidate published in his paper in the ’12 election cycle. This bishop has directed his parishes to not allow anything related to political issues in the parishes and NO letter will be read this Sunday like will be read in a handful of dioceses lead by ‘real Catholic’ bishops. This bishop has said that this ‘Year of Faith’ is all about pushing the “social justice” agenda. So, Fr Karl, do you think this well known bishop is basically ‘hiding out’ and will still be pulling the voting lever for Obama????
If this bishop really is “very well known,” and if all this is on the public record (i.e., as opposed to mere claims) then surely you can give his name. I’d very much like to know who he is.
Gerald Kicanas. It is all on the public record. Most of the above is from his New Vision paper of which he is the Executive Publisher and and the rest has been published on his diocesan website in his Monday Memo blog.
Thank you.
Larry – Check out the ‘White Mass’ article posted on CCD 11/5. Look at the comment posted ‘November 5, 2012 at 8:27 pm’ which is the latest from Kicanas, quite eye opening.
Let’s hope he doesn’t have a plan b where he tries something really treacherous if he does lose the electoral vote. I don’t trust him or his keepers at all…they’re about the most hateful, corrupt, lying low brows that have every been on the American scene in any form at any time, and that’s saying something! I would trust Charlie Manson over this bunch.
The baby killer is sounding desperate,,
Canisius he is not desperate…when you have many supporters like he does, they are never desperate especially when this country is run by the liberals.
It is clear that American women support abortion by the numbers that obtain them. No one is forced to obtain an abortion in the United States. For some reason women rather kill their unborn baby than take steps to prevent an unwanted pregnancy or sacrifice nine months of their life and give the baby up for adoption. What may not be clear is the jeopardy of one’s soul by participating in any way in an abortion or supporting the right of abortion. The testimonies of women’s abortion experiences include regret, fear, depression, anger, medial problems and relief. These are lifetime emotions and yet some women get a second and third abortion. If Roe v Wade was overturned all it would mean is that individual states could make their own abortion laws. Abortion would most likely always be available in California and other liberal states. The abortion rate would go down if made illegal in a state, but what really needs to change is the hearts of men and women.
Lisag,
” For some reason women rather kill their unborn baby than take steps to prevent an unwanted pregnancy or sacrifice nine months of their life and give the baby up for adoption.” Artificial contraception is a MORTAL SIN capable of damning that soul to HELL!
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
For Catholics artificial contraception is a mortal sin. If you have not been enlightened on the subject then you are not in jeopardy. Part of the reason Scott Hahn and wife became Catholic was from their research on contraception and the will of God. Abortion goes against the natural and moral law of God and man. I have been encouraged by all faiths and atheists when I pray outside the abortion clinic for my pro life stance. I know that some contraceptives act to kill the embryo after conception. Those need to be eliminated.
I’m afraid you’re wrong, lisag. Pope Paul VI in Humanae Vitae made it clear that contraception breaches the moral and natural law–as such it is intrinsically wrong for all persons in all places at all times in history. This is also confirmed by the fact that not only Martin Luther, but EVERY Christian denomination condemned contraception as gravely immoral until the Anglican Church’s Lambeth Conference voted in 1930 to reverse that condemnation. After that, every other denomination BUT the Catholic Church jumped ship. Just because the Catholic Church is the only voice which continues to recognize the immorality and harmfulness of contraception, that does not make it mere “Catholic teaching.” In the Old Testament, Onan’s life was forfeited by God because he had engaged in contraceptive sex. It is also clear that nonbelievers are in noways exempt from the serious temporal consequences of contraceptive sex, which include an increase in sexually irresponsible behavior (leading to further consequences such as rampant adultery and divorce–and even to legalized abortion where it had not existed before)–and severe drops in national birthrates–never a healthy proposition for any community. In fact, abortion and contraception go together. Always have. Always will.
Thanks for the info. I am now illuminated and I wish that all people would so be.
Well, is anyone chooses obama because of his insane fanaticism on abortion and homosexuality, they’re rather lost to reason anyway, are they not? So I certainly wouldn’t worry about these attack ads on Romney. It’s like attacking someone for supporting families, love, goodness and kindness. It’s a backhanded compliment, indeed! Things are getting so bizarre and I’m utterly flummoxed at the number of people who are choosing obama…thoroughly nice, thoughtful people. Where is the disconnect? How can they not see through his lies, his dark passion for intrinsic evil or his disloyalty to what they’ve always valued (like patriotism and American values)? It’s almost as though we’re seeing the sheep separated from the goats before our eyes and it deeply concerns me.
Dana,
You say they are they are “thoroughly nice, thoughtful people.” Have you ever tried to reason with them. I have NOT found most of them to be thoroughly nice and thoughtful, especiall if you get the upper hand on them!
In a computer class I am taking, there is one of them. If you can consider screaming epithets at you being nice and thoughful, you may be right.
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
Well, Kenneth, I’m talking about people I know really well, and am related to some, and they take dinners to shut ins, are always kind and loving, and yes I’ve tried reasoning with them, and they just think obama is great. They’re never mean-spirited but they think I am for finding fault with their hero. They are ALL protestants however, so they tend not to find abortion the abomination we do. I’ve found some people can be completely taken in, and even if he’s completely exposed, as he will be someday, I think they’ll probably think it’s just lies.
Dana, by “Protestants”, would that really mean Christians in sentiment only? Protestants do not have the grace of Reconciliation, and thus have to shuffle their ever mounting guilt around, because they cannot get rid of it. It manifests in such ways as you describe.
If the Obama people were thoroughly nice and thoughtful, then they would not be for Obama.
Obama Sin Laden and all his works need to be dead.
The president stated four years ago that the answer to when life begins was above his pay grade. Well, he is now the Commander-in-chief and there is no one above his pay grade. Now he has no excurse. If you are not sure when life begins don’t mess with it!!! God please bless America
John,
No there is definitely someone above his pay grade, and he will answer to Him some day!
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
Kenneth M. Fisher
Something to smile about: a whopping 45 people showed up for a “Catholics for Obama” rally in Colorado.
It’s looking more and more like Catholics AREN’T For Obama
Nor should they be!!
Another group you have not heard much about in the main-stream-media are all those great people that turned up to buy a chicken sandwich from Chick-Fil-A on August 1, 2012. Aside from that group be supporters of Marriage as God intended, you know what else they strongly support? The right to Life especially for the unborn!
Though I am not taking anything for granted, it is going to be a night worth recording on Tuesday just to capture on film the absolute bewilderment on the faces of MSNBC anchors!
on oct. 9 of this year, ROMNEY told the des moines register:
“There’s an ad… which says that I’m opposed to abortion even in cases of rape and incest and when the life of the mother is at risk. Well that’s not true. That’s not my position,” he said.
so we’ve got two candidates for president, one hog-wild for abortion, and the other for it if the baby is the result of rape or incest.
how does the way a baby comes to be conceived make it okay to kill that baby in the womb?
Romney has specifically said he will seek no changes to abortion law. He is not pro-life. His party is not pro-life.
He couldn’t do it without Congress, Brian S. It is Congress’ baby.
Oh, BrianS, then you’re vindicated and you can vote for commrade obama with an easy conscience. Just don’t bore the rest of us with your totally inane and specious arguments as to why not to vote for Mitt Romney, because you lack logic, common sense or moral reasoning. All of you who vote for obama should be granted membership cards in to socialist, one-world party for rewards. Everyone who votes for obama should also be granted a free abortion or a same sex partner for the night. Enjoy the fruits of what it is you’re voting for, by all means.
The fact that judges appointed by Republican presidents wrote and were the majorities in the abortion cases is specious? The fact that Romney just flatly declared he would seek no changes in abortion law is inane?
OK, Dana, draw comfort in the notion that your guy is less wrong than the other. The Party is counting on you!
Romney has, however, pledged to “repeal and replace” Obamacare, which presumably includes the oppressive contraceptive mandate by which the government threatens to institute a persecution of the Church and Catholics in general. I don’t think it is irrelevant and immaterial that one candidate is on course to drive Catholicism out of American life while the other is on record against that. Is that in itself not enough to create a moral imperative to vote for Romney?
max: A. few abortions for rape or incest, very few. B. The election is for a president, not a theologian or a bishop. Likely Romney would re-instate the Hyde Amendment to prohibit federal funds from going towards abortions … would save many lives, and give many women a second glance at their situation. The next presidential term may see three Supreme Court justices appointed. Do you think Romney would appoint sodomites or abortionists?
Romney wouldn’t appoint a judge who would overturn Roe v. Wade. Even Reinquist, who dissented in Roe v. Wade, refused to overturn it when he had the chance in the Webster case 16 years later. As I’ve pointed out before, and as you republican activists ignore, the major abortion decisions: Roe, Webster, and Casey were all decided and written by Republican-appointed judges.
Brian S what are your comments suppose to accomplish? It’s disgusting that with a track record that Obama has on moral values, you keep trying to get people distracted with stupid comments! Give me a break.
Abeca, I am trying to spread a wider understanding of just how hypocritical the Republican party is regarding abortion. By pointing out the facts concerning the significant Supreme Court cases regarding abortion, I am urging pro-life voters (including myself, slanders to the contrary) to consider alternatives to the Republican party.
Brian S., are you really that naiive to dream that these men on the high bench are independent? That presidents are not bought and paid for? Look, dude, learn reality and get out of your high school govt textbook. All we voters can do is pick one or the other annointed (by big money) front men and hope we can scare them more than their benefactors. Big money: Brian S., do yourself a favor and look into this. The resources are openly available and abundant, and have been for a long time.
One really critical point to make by voting for Romney, Brian S., is to make a show of power to the faithless democrat bishops, to make them uncomfortable, hoping that maybe a tiny shakeup in their mental sense of spiritual wellbeing might move a few of them at least to consider the Pope’s words, “Bishops, get down and get holy” (my translation).
Gee, JLS, my point throughout has been that no matter who is elected, abortion is staying put. The “big money” wants it.
Most regrettably, the people of this morally adrift country want it. That the minimalist head nods of a bankrupt party on this subject appeal so strongly to good people is disheartening.
So, Brian S., because the citizenry wants abortion, and the bishops want money, you want to give up: You seem caught between some rock and some hard place. Or you’re being intimidated into inaction. Just say “no” to coersion. You’ll be amazed at the results.
Brian, did Romney personally confide in you?
I think not.
It doesn’t, max. Consider this: Next time you take your timber ax and try to split logs for firewood, you’ve got two options. One option works all the time, and the other option usually bogs you down most of the time. Chip away at the log and you’ll have firewood in no time; strike that ax head into the heart of the log and it’ll stay there for fifteen minutes while you try various ways of getting it unstuck. Hope you see my point. Besides you’d be sacrificing thousands of unborn babies on principal that would weigh against only a few. Have you asked the unborn babies about it?
In Ireland, in the mid 1800’s during the Potato Famine, the Irish were starving. The Anglicans opened soup lines and would give soup to any Irish Catholic who would convert to the Anglican church. The Irish referred to those who converted to get the soup as “taking the soup”. Today in America, there’s a situation where Catholics are voting for the pro-abortion, anti-Catholic Obama. In other words they are “taking the Obama”.
Brian S., you need to stick some toothpicks in your potato and then rise up and walk.
If you think that firewood is effectively made by the whittling process you describe, you must split very little wood. But whittling does describe what the Republicans have done to the pro-life movement.
Brian S., anarchy is nothing more than rolling over and inviting the enemy to have its way with you.
