WHMothersDay2013BirthControlTweet-491px-491x284The following comes from a May 13 story on LifeSiteNews.com.

As part his national celebration of Mother’s Day, President Barack Obama invited the nation’s leading abortion provider to a White House event and sent out a tweet boasting that his administration forces employers to provide women with birth control at no co-pay.

Obama saw that Planned Parenthood was represented at a special pre-Mother’s Day event defending the Affordable Care Act, popularly known as ObamaCare, on Friday afternoon.

The president sought to highlight ObamaCare’s impact “on the health, lives and pocketbooks of women and their families.”

“This is an outright mockery of motherhood,” declared Pro-Life Wisconsin in a press release. “Mothers were designed to nurture and care for their children, not kill them in the womb. And yet our President celebrates Mother’s Day…by encouraging mothers to turn on their children with violence and kill them if it suits their lifestyle.”

The invitation was not the only incongruous action the administration took on the nation’s maternal holiday.

Friday morning, the White House Twitter account tweeted: “Thanks to the #ACA, 1 in 3 women under 65 gained access to preventive care—like birth control—with no out-of-pocket costs. #HappyMothersDay.”

The anti-motherhood tweet, which fell short of greeting card sentiment, drew mostly bewildered responses.

One Twitter user wrote, “Really? Happy Mother’s Day gift = birth control? What the hell?” Another tweeted back to the White House, “Wait, what? Celebrate Mothers Day by celebrating the prevention of becoming a mother? #Clueless #moronic.”

Townhall.com’s Katie Pavlich expressed shock that the Obama administration “actually just touted birth control for 65-year-olds.”

“I didn’t realize women past 45 needed birth control,” she wrote. “t’s called menopause.”

Thad Leach noted the White House tweet’s ironic content and concluded simply, “You are screwed up.”
