The following comes from an October 5 The Catholic Voice article. For more background on Sister Simone Campbell, please click here: 2012 CalCatholic article.

Sister Simone Campbell, executive director of Network, a Catholic social justice advocacy group based in Washington, DC, will talk about the success of her latest bus trip at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 at Christ the King Church, Pleasant Hill.

She and her group of nuns, famed for their earlier tours, are on the road again.

When she comes to the East Bay, Sister Simone will discuss the list of issues that she will focus on with the current Congress as she follows the pope’s lead with his last two encyclicals primarily dealing with the poor according to the Gospels and with the latter how extreme climate change affects the most vulnerable.

St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Walnut Creek, and Christ the King are co-sponsoring the talk, Sister Simone Speaks. She will be signing her book, which details her history of advocacy and her prayerful approach to solving problems.
