In San Francisco archdiocese, Masses continue but with only a priest and a single altar server present:
In Sacramento, public celebrations of the Mass have been suspended:
San Bernardino Bishop Gerald Barnes suspends all Masses, with exceptions for funerals and weddings, but only 10 or fewer allowed:
Santa Rosa Bishop Robert Vasa: all Masses cancelled “with the exception of the one ‘Private’ Mass offered by the priest each day without a congregation” —
Stockton diocese: Beginning March 18, all Masses cancelled until further notice:
Monterey diocese: All Masses cancelled through Easter Sunday:
Does God require us to attend a group worship [Mass] which has a serious chance of physical harm and serious illness?
mike m, will you still be able to get your recreational marijuana as an “essential” service during this time of quarantine?
Or, did you just forget that the obligation currently does not exist?
Yes, you can still got your weed. Last week the mayor of San Francisco called it essential and by the look of my local pot shop, business is booming. Some people turn to drugs, others to prayer in time of crisis. What you do in this kind of situation really does show your character.
May fasting from the Eucharist strengthen our love for our Eucharistic Lord. In the time of resolution let the faithful who have hungered and thirsted for the Mass be filled with gratitude.
Beautiful reply. Thankyou for your consoling words.
In the great epidemic of 1918, 675,000 Americans died of the flu.
So far, 150 Americans have died of the coronavirus.
Should our schools and businesses be closed?
Should our jobs and economy be damaged further?
psyop
Yet the unholy sacrifice of the unborn continues unabated.
Only “essential” places are open … such as abortuaries.
California apparently is owned and operated by Satan himself.
So, when did Christians become People of Fear?
I struggle with this too but prudence is a virtue and the Lord loves obedience. If you have a copy of St. Faustina’s diary, read paragraph 375.
In Massachusetts, all elective surgery has been canceled to concentrate on the sick and dying. However, it was announced that all hospitals will continue to provide abortions. So, on one floor heroic effort is being made to save human life, but on the next floor everything is being done to destroy human life. What’s wrong with this picture? No matter what the crisis is the eighth sacrament of abortion must be continued.
Dare anyone mention the possibility of the judgment of God upon our world (including us)?
You mean mostly upon old-timers with compromised or suppressed immune systems and/or serious underlying medical conditions, i.e., the wicked? I dare not.
No, I don’t mean what you stated. I’m an “old timer with a compromised immune system.” I don’t think he’s singling out anyone or even any one group, including me or you. I’m talking about unbelievers and believers, all of us have fallen short (one of the words the Bible uses to describe sin). God allowed natural calamities in the past as judgment. Are you certain He has changed His ways for us and our time? God’s wrath is not about Him getting mad at us. It’s about Him removing His protection and allowing us to experience the results of our own sin, some known and some unknown, in mysterious ways. I’m not saying this is the judgment of God. I’m just not saying that it’s not. As our Lord Jesus teaches us, the sun shines and the rain falls on the good and the bad, the just and the unjust alike. (Matt. 5:45)
Was just ribbin’ ya, but I do think, a la Freud, that sometimes a virus is just a virus. Here’s to your health, my friend.
