Yes, of course. Sorry that I have burdened the volunteers. They are much appreciated.
Thank you, many windbags on this site, your policy will deflate some egos!!
Oh, the irony! You prove yet again that it is possible to be a windbag in 13 words or less, miles.
Dana, Mr Miles refers to windbags other than himself, being the quintessence of brevity (and charity) of course.
Unfortunately, there is no new policy against publishing the inflammatory remarks of proudly pontificating sinners, promoters of dissonance, and enemies of those who accept the teachings of the Catholic Church and follow them to the best of their ability every day in every word, deed, and thought. and keep the Word of the Lord in their hearts and in their daily lives. Perhaps in heaven we shall see and hear the likes of these enemies of Godliness no more, unless, of course, they repent of their sinful ways before the Day of Judgment, in which case it is to be hoped they shall be silenced but to praise God. Let us pray.
Excellent post Maryanne Leonard!
Maryanne Leonard, you yourself don’t entirely accept the teachings of the Catholic Church on certain significant issues. Look at yourself first before you hurl stones.
Ok, this is my 2nd comment today. I have 8 more to go.
jon writes, “Maryanne Leonard, you yourself don’t entirely accept the teachings of the Catholic Church on certain significant issues. Look at yourself first before you hurl stones.”
This is another example of selective insincerity from a roving new name poster who sometimes calls himself or herself jon. Mr. “I’m against the death penalty” does not really care about Maryanne Leonard or about *axing* Maryanne Leonard either. Mr. Insincerity was silently fine with Maryanne…that is until Maryanne posted something very good above at 11:32 am that completely worked against his/her specific agenda. False charity recharges and enables those who manipulatively and deliberately undermine Church teaching.
Wrong Catherine. My comment is not “another example of selective insincerity,” rather my comment is the truth. As you have mentioned yourself, you and MLeonard have DISSENTED from the Church’s teaching on life issues, in particular the death penalty. She has also DISSENTED on other issues. This is the truth.
This is a great request from CCD. It will help keep out the personal conversations between a few persons that do not belong with the article.
It seems a few people just like to argue or see their statements in print – even though it does not further discussion on the article.
Limiting each answer to 20 lines (abt 250 words),
and
Limiting each commenter to 10 statements or responses per day is good.
I hope all the volunteers enforce these, so the rules are fair and not abused.
E-Tag Youreit
I submit that most of the drain clogging here is the result of several ‘anonymous’ Homosex Activist Trolls – following standard Alinskyite tactics to distract and destroy any information sources not complying with the Official Party Line of the Gaystapo.
The standard ‘flame’ war scam of ‘representing’ as a part of One Gang – and throwing rocks at a stooge in the ‘Other Gang’ – is simply an invitation to chaos – which also serves the Purpose of diverting followup discussion from a Politically Un-Good topic with Great Information Exchange…
– To a dull recitation of ‘nyah nyah’ accusations – which also serve to distract the thread and destroy further Reading or Participation – particularly by those who tire of wading through endless Homosex Propaganda pity ploys concocted by those who demand a ‘right’ to Hijack any thread they dislike (say with alleged ‘daddy issues’)
– and denounce as uncaring anyone who says they should take it back to the kloset and have a good cry – without bothering the rest of us.
Banning ‘E-Tagging’ of message boards by allegedly ‘Anonymous’ Trolls, whose purpose is to Prevent Discussion – is little different than cleaning up after spray paint politicos…
Kind of like the Gaystapo Leaders who sprayed Swastikas and Slurs against the Pope on the Church my parents were married in…. and who are equally intolerant of diverse views as the taggers here, only not as rabidly incessant about repeating the defacement over and over again.
This post is MORE than 20 lines (abt 250 words).
Why is this poster being shown favoritism from the CCD volunteers?
It is too long and should not have been posted. His message could have been stated within the 20 lines limit.
Some of Michael McDermott’s postings have short lines.
The Word Count on my computer shows this one at 239 words.
Michael comments are good and thank you Mr. Holman for your charity to make notice that he did not go over the 250 maximum limit…I trust that you are fair and honest…you are a good soul!
“Banning ‘E-Tagging’ of message boards by allegedly ‘Anonymous’ Trolls, whose purpose is to Prevent Discussion – is little different than cleaning up after spray paint politicos…”
I agree Abeca. Michael Mc Dermott hit the nail on the head. I also love the Catechism of the Catholic Church but even a heretic can publicly quote or occasionally publicly claim to love and agree with the CCC while only striving to be publicly noticed as a possible candidate selection in becoming a Bishop or a Cardinal. What does it profit the world for our shepherds to occasionally claim that they believe these teachings if they NEVER teach, NEVER uphold, NEVER defend, or NEVER discipline. Abeca, can you imagine the condition of our own children if we occasionally fed them or occasionally disciplined them or occasionally educated them? Look at the condition of the world… As the Church goes the world goes! The real proof of the love of those beautiful teachings contained in the CCC is in the pudding of the actions and the very public discussions. The Gospel of Matthew explains it much better.
Matthew 7:16-18 Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible
7:16 BY THEIR FRUTS YOU SHALL KNOW THEM. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit, and the evil tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can an evil tree bring forth good fruit.
But manipulatively and deliberately undermining Church authority is a evil fruit.
Yes Catherine….true to what you just posted : )
Thank you Abeca!

― St. Thomas Aquinas
“When there is an imminent danger for the Faith, Prelates must be questioned, even publicly, by their subjects.”
–St. Thomas Aquinas
Summa Theologica
Prelates are starting to speak out against those who attack the bishops and Catholic organizations. One bishop has said that he suspects the organizations that do this are actually doing it as a way to generate money. Poor innocent Catholics fall for it because they don’t suspect these people who paint themselves as the “faithful” Catholics, pro-life (really anti-abortion) anti-gay rights. They come on loud and they come on strong but there goals on not really the glorification of God and his Church. They seek to destroy the Church or at least to control it. You shall know them by their deeds. And lest anyone be so evil as to accuse me of supporting the gay lobby-I don’t.
Catherine what is Anony whining about? I just don’t get it…its like a dog chasing it’s tail over and over without end…how can we get the poor animal to figure out to stop doing that.
kanonymous, Please cite the specific article and the specific prelates and the specific bishop, whose words you are quoting or repeating. Next, stop defending and enabling the destructive fruits of Cardinal Mahony and the destructive fruits of Archbishop Rembert Weakland. Holy prelates are ONLY interested in a Holy Church. It was the Vicar of Christ on earth, Blessed Pope John Paul II, who asked all of our bishops to become holy examples of the early apostles during their ad limina visits. Blessed Pope John Paul II did not bring up the fear of the loss of others generating money first, like you just did. In fact it was just the opposite. The Pope at that time requested that the bishops lives should reflect the simple holy austerity and sacrifice of the early apostles. It was Judas who worried about generating 30 pieces of silver.
It was not the faithful laity who decided to generate thirty more pieces of silver at the Al Smith dinner at the terrible cost expense of sending mixed messages to the entire world. It was not the faithful pro-life warriors who courageously risk being arrested by standing daily in front of killing centers that scandalized Christ’s Church by patting Barack Obama on the back with jovial supportive laughing photo ops at the extravagant Al Smith dinner. It was not the faithful laity that enabled the landslide win of the most openly modern day pro-death abortion supporting president that our nation has ever known.
Since you disrespected me by adding something to the anonymous default to link me with a poster that you abuse and since you lied and tried to link me with people who are disliked by many on this website- no. You can google it. Why should I give you another person to abuse? 1 Cor 5:11 New American Catholic Bible
Catherine I see what you mean….didn’t k always used that word “abuse”…..such a dumb argument on their part…
I can bilocate, so I will abide by the ten comments.
so called good cause,
Your writing you can bilocate is tantamount to sacrilege!
May God have mercy on your soul,

Humor is the tendency of particular cognitive experiences to provoke laughter and provide amusement.
You might try it sometime.
Why not move Cal Catholic to a moderated Facebook Group or Page? I’m sure it would be far easier to manage — both the original articles and the responses. It would also allow uploads of germane photos and URLs.
Those that believe for some reason that FB is the “devil’s den” are simply ignorant. People were (and are) making the exact same comments about the Internet itself. They simply need to educate themselves, to actually use FB as a tool rather than make silly comments about it.. No one is forcing them to surf around FB. I don’t however thing it’s asking them too much to create a (free) FB account…
I have been trying to keep my comments down since my dad’s recent sickness and hospitzlizatrion.
Rodda,
You know darn well why true believers are against “Facebook”, it is because they (Facebook) are big supporters of many evils, that’s why!
May God have mercy on your soul,
Kenneth M. Fisher
Please don’t be so ignorant. Take a moment and view the TRASH that is hosted on other WORDPRESS (the company that hosts this blog) before running your mouth.
I’m simply suggesting a way to make this forum easier to manage. Moving it to FB would make it easier to run and it would allow for greater security.
I suspect Cal Catholic will disappear one day. That day will come far faster than if it were moved to FB where management of the site would become far easier and less time consuming.
Facebook is controlled by a secular company, and must abide by Federal Government rules and regulations.
This is a “Catholic” web site and owned by a “Catholic”, for the purpose of evangelizing our Faith ACCURATELY.
Based upon the posts of a few, there are those who pretend to be “Catholic”, and clearly are not. Unfortunately, these deceitful trolls need frequent correction.
I agree with Paul….He is right….so it’s not the number of comments, it is the number of dissent and scandal permitted to be posted…so of course you have those who are lead to frequent correcting! PAX CHRISTI
Yeah and if this was Facebook, each commentator would have a profile. There would be no anonymous postings. People (via their profiles) could easily be banned too.
Win win.
People use “fake names” and give fake birthdates and info all the time on Facebook.
Only the email address the messages were sent from and IP number can be traced back to the author.
The Government and owner of the site are the only one’s who keep track of the TRUE writers – if they do not wish to be tracked.
For two good fiction books MIXED with real facts about what is being done and can be done read: “Hidden Order” and “Black List” by Brad Thor.
And WORDPESS (which this site is located on) is also a “public company” that must “abide by Federal Government rules and regulations.”
Ignorance is rampant here… :(
Take a look at what is happening to FaceBunk right now – in the wake of Moonbeam signing the Mandatory Tranny Pandering law (AB 1266 by Tommmy T.P. Ammiano) for the public schools.
Facebunk is disconnecting critics of the pogrom by the bushel, just in case anyone thinks they can express an opinion not sanctioned by the Gaystapo Thought Police who enforce the ‘standards’ in the Faceless Hunker Bunker…
I’m quite sure this is not true. It takes a LOT and it takes a long time for FB to sanction users for anything, and they allow a very broad range of opinions. But I’m sure the real reason you hate Facebook is because Zuckerberg marched in this years’ Pride Parade in San Francisco.
And the fb page on how the Virgin Mary should have been aborted that Lifesitenews exposed…I’m sure the usual anti-Catholic, liberal cynics that seem to delight in ridiculing and mocking the sacred and holy, think this is great. These same people would hate to see anything mocking islam however. Oh, that’s right, they’re in lockstep with Jesus! How could I forget? There’s a black choir that has a video on youtube singing youtube.com/watch?v=vJImTFz715s (Keep yo business off of facebook) Sunday you act like a saint! But your Facebook status say you ain’t! You need to—keep your business!
You need to—keep your business!
Tell the neighbors!
Keep your biz!
Tell a friend!
Keep your biz!
Tell everybody you know!
Keep your biz!
RB Rodda simply wants to facilitate easier tracing methods to enable the future arrests of the likes of Mother Angelica and other faithful Catholics. Notice how everyone is ignorant except the one and only RB Rodda/Supreme Facilitator of handing faithful Catholics over to the lions.
VIVA CRISTO REY!
Are you honestly that ignorant or are you simply trolling? It would be a good idea if people posted via FB and non anonymously. Maybe they would actually think about what they wee saying before they said it…
FYI, CalCatholic has had a Facebook page since late December of last year. Last time I checked, it was not exactly attracting readers in droves — something like 165 followers, despite excellent content. And that’s over 8 months! I think WP is probably bringing in a lot more readers than FB, a whole lot more.
Don’t believe me? See for yourself: https://www.facebook.com/pages/California-Catholic-Daily/508546962512227
I don’t have a face book nor do I care to have one…
I dropped my Facebook page because the Company kept lying to me.
They sent me messages saying that named certain “friends” wanted to know when my birthday was (dob).
These friends already knew my birthday, and never sent me any such messages because I specifically asked them.
Facebook has the potential to be very dangerous in profiling every participant. Facebook is one of many companies being tracked by the US Government, with posted info being stored by the government.
That sounds like intimidation to me rodda, but then, all liberals are fascists at heart. By ‘think first’ you mean ‘ don’t say it because you might just get in trouble’ like the unfortunate rodeo guy that made sport of el jefe grande…something that was done to Bush constantly by the liberal left. They even have a horrid vulgar photo of Sarah Palin on facebunk that would never be permited to pilory clinton. I tried FB for a couple of months and found it a vast wasteland and timewaster…definitely for people with too much time on their hands. It took an article in the WSJ to be able to get out of it though. It’s like quick sand or a swamp, and not easy to disengage oneself from. I suppose they still have all my information and it’s not in a govt bunker in Utah. What a joke.
Catherine, this isn’t related but I am reading Rose’s book Ugly as Sin..thanks for the recommendation. He’s an Ohio guy. I got his other book on the priest scandal, but I may find it too upsetting to read. Viva Christo Rey!
1 John 4:20
Mt 7:21-23;
Mk 7:20-23;
Mk 13:22
Jn 7:24;
1 Cor 5:9-12.
1John4:20 is talking about love and brothers. That is the whole point, o.H., ie discerning, admonishing and converting. Jesus makes it very clear that some have the devil for their father and that it can be exceedingly difficult to discern who, and exceeding dangerous to one’s soul and to the souls of others. Love includes defending souls.
“o ” bey Him with a small “o”instead of a capital O = little obedience.
Just been on a website to help teens deal with, report and stop cyber and digital bullying and abuse. Paul’s mention of 1 Cor 5:9-12 list the types of people that should be expelled from the community: immoral persons and abusive persons are on the list. Perhaps the new policy will help to limit some of the immorality and abuse that occurs on this website. The advice given on that website is to ignore it ( do not respond to it) and report it to the webmaster or moderator.
Good idea, CCD.
Some folks need to get a life AWAY from their keyboards…
Thanks for your good work!
Spoken like a true Trotskyite, just tell everyone else what they need, what to say, what to do … make us all safe and secure in a sardine can.
Also,Skai ,the constant refrain that we’re computer junkies with nothing better to do…like it must take simply hours to write a post here. Most of us have many other interests and a variety of activities and I find such condescension rather silly and rather pointless…as they write here too. haha. Liberals just aren’t happy unless they’re telling the rest of what to do. I’ve managed to avoid their ‘good advice’ since outgrowing my naive and trusting twenties and I’ll never fall prey to that oppression ever again. (Until they eventually become busy little bees again and put us all in extermination camps because the rest of us just don’t measure up) I wish liberals could see the logical sequence of where believing that man and society is perfectable and that a utopia on earth is possible. They take always ending up turning the world into a living hell.
Plus, I wish we could edit these posts after we’ve posted them. I can’t believe I am so careless ! I’ll try to be more careful.
HA! HA! Good for the Cal-Cath volunteers. Hopefully this will significantly curtail the hot air coming from the veteran commenters here who have literally made a career out of visiting this here blog and commenting. It would help if their comments are entirely orthodox and sane. But sadly no. I know. I had to contend with these wrong-minded hot heads.
Good job volunteers!
The article that is shown and may be the prompt for this decision now has 535 comments. An analysis shows that only 10 of those comments are about the content of the article. Many comments are corrections, rebuttals or expansions on other comments. Some are just nasty remarks. One commenter posted 104 times; another 96 times so those 2 people alone made 200 comments. 3rd in frequency are anonymous and their variations with 75 comments. 8 other commenters posted more than 10 comments- 40 being the highest number. 42 separate people commented on this article.
This is so petty and so is this notice….if you can’t handle it then just end the comments section all together, we wouldn’t have to keep fighting the dissenters and this would give us all peace…..life would be more peaceful without the dissenters commenting galore…especially the pro-gay rights activists!
It really doesn’t help this website to keep having these kind of notices and them permitting nasty comments against the faithful….just petty to say the least…having volunteers doesn’t mean no professionalism….this comes with the territory, you have comments section then it is what it is…but lately you have been putting up these kind of notices…..I liked you better when you asked for donations than putting out these kind notices that provoke nasty comments from some of the dissenters here….so ya if you can’t handle it, then take the comments section out, better than allow insulting comments to those of faith. Really pray about it….chow..
This policy and the 250 word policy are good ones. I think they’ll improve the site, so I appreciate these limits.
WOW, Anonymous! Really!! Get a life. The amount of time you must have spent counting and reading all the posts to that article could have been spent on something much more constructive! You could have done a lot of soul searching in that amount of time and could have said many prayers and Rosaries!
Anonymously Yours
I suggest no longer allowing ‘Anonymous’ posting here. We should at least provide a method of Distinguishing amongst the ‘Anomymous’ – say by designation of Anonyomous-1, 2,3… which I will use n responding to Two apparently Different Anonymous posters in this thread –
Anon-1 sez: “…paint themselves as the “faithful” Catholics, pro-life (really anti-abortion) anti-gay rights… lest anyone be so evil as to accuse me of supporting the gay lobby-I don’t.”
Precisely this the type Anonymous Trolling that should be banned, as the author not only uses Propaganda terms the Church Avoids (The Magisterium discusses Homosexual Sins– is not ‘Happy’ ones)…
– but instead bashes clear Church Teachings and those who faithfully and Honestly adhere to their true and complete meaning.
This is just Disruptive Trolling by a cowardly Alinskyite without the gravitas to even sign their name to their words.
By contrast – Anon-2 tallied up the Radical Homosex Trolling campaign that led to this ‘Note’ – finding attempts to disrupt or distract in to flame wars (see above Anon-Troll) were coming from a few Anti-Catholic Gaystapo activists.
Too bad that RR has to trash such good work in helping maintain the integrity of the boards (which is constructive, unlike reading RR) – who apparently admires the prior Trolling of Anon-1 as the type of ‘life to get’…
Although throwing rocks from the porch of an ‘Anonymous’ Glass House seems little like any Life a Faithful Catholic would want, at least one with the courage to Publicly Witness to the Truth.
The term gay lobby was popularized here by the poster named Catherine but I think it may have started with some news coverage of the Pope. I do not bash church teaching or those who adhere to it. I wish all would adhere to it.
anonymous writes, ” I do not bash church teaching or those who adhere to it. I *wish* = (pagan term) all would adhere to it.”
You don’t need to bash it. Your modus operandi is even more insidious. Your goal is to cleverly and underhandedly undermine those who do. Especially courageous priests. The martyrs and saints faced roaring lions and firing squads. You cannot even face the mere challenge of using a recognized name.
From Catholic Answers: ‘THEY SANG ALL THE WAY TO THE GUILLOTINE’
‘On July 17, 1794, the sixteen Carmelites were led through the streets of Paris in a tumbrel, the traditional open cart that left condemned prisoners subject to the mockery, abuse, and jeers of the crowds lining the avenues leading to the guillotine. With utter serenity, the nuns made their way to the Place du Trône Renversé and were removed from the cart. Sister Charlotte of the Resurrection, who was seventy-eight and could barely walk, was tossed to the ground by one of her guards, but in response told him that she forgave him and assured him of her prayers. The mob that had gathered for its customary fun, however, was soon reduced to stunned silence by the actions of the Carmelites. The women religious did not cower in fear before the blade of the guillotine. Rather, they sang as each one mounted the steps to her death. Some accounts declare that they sang the Veni Creator, others that it was the Salve Regina.”
There are many who post here who attack and undermine the Church, including yourself. I am not one of them.
again I say..Anony you are the real definition for undermining the church…count yourself in as one who attacks and does what you accuse….
I think that this type of notice and lack of allowing posts printed from even those who now post less or visit less, may cause a loss of interest to give our donations….now I’m sure if someone was wealthy, even if it be a dissenter with high amounts of donation, would this website sell itself out and compromise it’s Catholicity just to appease those who are dissenters? I wonder, only time will tell….
Abeca Christian, no, I am not what you accuse me of. I forgive you.
Hmmm…The comments policy clearly says “NO URLS or LINKS” yet some people post links here all the time; the recently imposed 250 word limit has already been surpassed several times. Hard to know what to make of this new rule.
Seems like 2-3 trolls could simply be banned from the site and this would solve the entire problem. The irony is that the people who post the most actually have the least to say.
I’m guilty adding links…I thought the rule had been changed. I always check out any links someone else gives as I love learning about what others love or get inspiration from them.
Dana – I have but one question in regard to your admission of “Guilt”…
Have you rehabilitated yourself, kid?
I’ve pulled up m’ socks ‘n am trying, sir! I’m just giving web addresses now for people not to use, since only about 3 people ever check them out. (grin)
Links to the Vatican web site should be permitted.
This is the documentation needed to combat the trolls.
True to that Pat…
Although it is of no particular import to anyone but myself and God, to whom it is all important, I do not wish to let stand the false statement by Jon that I do not entirely accept the teachings of the Catholic Church.
While by nature I am unable to cease thinking, which includes questioning, having long since developed the habit of thinking, taught to me by nuns in Catholic schools, using the active but admittedly imperfect brain with which the Lord has endowed me, when I have turned over in my mind the many teachings of the Church, I have become in more complete accord with every teaching of the Church than the vast majority of self-proclaimed Catholics that I have ever known, including some priests and nuns.
Although I am unable to cease questioning every rule or law that is pronounced by society, I usually agree even with the laws of the land, let alone the teachings of the Catholic Church, which I admire and embrace with tremendous admiration and profound respect. If I am guilty of failing to agree with all of the teachings of the Church, after all these years of considering so many of them, I am ignorant of how there is any lapse whatsoever between the teachings of the Holy Roman Catholic Church and my own well-considered conclusions. I am not a perfect Catholic, but as far as I am aware, I am in perfect accord with my beloved Church and all of its teachings.
EVERYONE do not be goaded into defending yourself when attacked by heretics, schismatics, or non-Catholic trolls who pretend to be Catholic.
Back and forth personal arguments discourage evangelization – the purpose of this web site.
Let’s just accurately explain or defend the Faith on Catholic media.
All comments would be much better when they do not PERSONALLY attack someone, or do not respond to personal attacks.
PERSONAL ATTACKS are the work of the DEVIL.
CCC: ” 2507 Respect for the reputation and honor of persons forbids all detraction and calumny in word or attitude. “
CCC: ” 2477 Respect for the reputation of persons forbids every attitude and word likely to cause them unjust injury.
He becomes guilty:
– of RASH JUDGEMENT who, even tacitly, assumes as true, without sufficient foundation, the moral fault of a neighbor;
– of DETRACTION who, without objectively valid reason, discloses another’s faults and failings to persons who did not know them;
– of CALUMNY who, by remarks contrary to the truth, harms the reputation of others and gives occasion for false judgments concerning them. ”
Everyone, when examining your conscience, if you are guilty of these things, they must be Confessed, with a firm purpose of amendment not to commit these sins again.
They are Mortal Sins, and one may not receive Holy Communion until after Confession.
Which is why it is critical to help gays to accurately identify themselves as human beings instead of gay people. In order to get the good news across to all but inscrutable hearts and minds and souls, you have to find a way, and often this is not so pleasant of politically correct or 18th century “manners theater”. Look at how Jesus is recorded as talking … not like the very manned down episcopacy we find today, not at all. When is the last time a bishop talked to a corrupt politician who then fled like the devil flees from Christ?
Danie, “respect” does not mean hiding under your bed.
Dear Maryanne, May God Hide you in His Wounds and always protect you for what you have written.
I find Catholicism straightforward in understanding if you study in depth the Creeds, The Our Father, The Hail Mary and the Glory Be. You expand your understanding by reading the Bible ( Catholic prefulfillment period and fulfillment period). The Sacraments Our Lord gave us are to guide us through our earthly existence. The two Cathechisms of the Church can be used as reference as can the Encyclicals of the Popes.
In this way you are following the Magisterium of the Church.
I thank the moderators who are trying to bring order to the comments sections.
God Bless to everyone,
Gerard
Finally a well balanced look at the CCC!!! I’d add that not only do the Sacraments “guide us through our earthly existence” but create our earthly existence not to mention our eternal existence.
Well said Skai. Thank you for the suggestion.
I would rephrase the earlier statements:
The Sacraments Our Lord gave us, are to create and permeate our earthly existence and prepare us for eternal life. The two Cathechisms of the Church can be used as reference as can the Encyclicals of the Popes.
In this way you are following the Magisterium of the Church. This gives us the best chance to live the two greatest commandments Jesus taught. “Love God and Love your neighbor as yourself.”
God Bless,
Gerard
I try to follow Jesus. Two CCCs??? The Law and the Prophets??? I wonder if there is a book titled, The Complete Magisterium of the Catholic Church (CMCC), and how many pages it has. Does a bishop adhere to the CCC or enact Christ on earth? Did Christ come to direct us to the Magisterium, the CCC, or unite us with God? Can the CCC or the Magisterium unite us with God? Are the Sacraments like identification papers or merit badges? If not, then what are they?
Skai, if you wish to follow Jesus, you must follow the Church. And if you wish to follow the Church, you must follow the Catechism, for the Catechism proclaims what the Church teaches for the Church teaching Jesus Christ Our Lord.
Listen to the living Magisterium of the Church! Respsect life!
jon what church do you go to? Just wondering….curious….must not be Catholic
If what I had said above doesn’t sound Catholic to you, you have a lot of problems calling YOURSELF a Catholic.
jon I know you from your past comments here so lets be fair…I know you by your words using “the living Magisterium” in the past and what you claimed to be your view on Catholicism….to those words and your actions to attack real “living” Catholics here tells me that you have your own definition and that concerns me…..so your attacking words do not represent you as a Catholic to me….your words only concern me because an authentic Catholic can judge one by their words and actions here on this website.
Many whom you attack, even in the past, seek to be good Catholics. So lets be honest here….we know that real Catholics are sinners too so there is no perfect Catholic here but we can discern who clearly do dissent and you seem to lack that discernment. The past has clearly shown me to be concerned with the integrity in which you preach….it’s called discernment.
The Bible and the CCC are the teaching documents of the Catholic Faith.
They accurately depict what the Christ’s Church teaches.
No individual Bishop or individual Priest may teach anything which violates the Doctrine of the Faith which is contained in the CCC – but some do.
The CCC lets everyone know the truth in case of a bad Bishop or bad Priest, or Bishops and Priests who do not do their “teaching” jobs or do not teach the truth. Each individual Bishop and all Priests are human beings, they are not perfect or without human error.
The Bible and the CCC are without error.
Maryanne, I wouldn’t worry about what Jon thinks. It’s what God thinks that matters. He loves you so much.
Skai, I have seen 19 posts from you on August 11. Please respect and obey the rules.
Get a life already Anonymous. Who made you the post police? Give Skai his illegal post ticket, move on, and get a life!!
Like my fixit ticket a few years back, standing at the puhlice desk and slyly noting a gaggle of old retired coppers sitting around chewin’ the fat, I felt it my civic duty to assure them that I never drove my 4X4 more than 25mph when occasionally cutting across the golf course.
Skai, you misspelled a word in your comment. It is supposed to be poe-lease, no puhlice. Try better next time.
No, according to experts in the midwest, skiven, it’s puh lease. Since all newscasters have a midwest accent, we should know, just ask Tom Brokaw. We say police, please, and pleas all the sameway, which is the only true way. wink wink And it’s soda pop…not soda, not pop. Don’t forget!
Banning personal attacks against Skai would cut down on a lot of the personal attacks.
Ski Ven that is so true….
People who’ve mastered the art of victimhood also seem experts of sly ad hominem attacks. As a matter of fact, this is the modus operandi of democrats. Look at Abortion Barbie in her little pink shoes and big blonde hair taking the excellent Republican barb and running with it literally for governor of Texas. She’ll probably use that throughout her campaign as what else can someone with more hair than wit do and when character , values and political vision are utterly lacking?
Skai needs to stop attacking other persons. People merely respond to his attacks especially when he attacks the teachings of the Church. He would have us follow those Bishops in error rather than the Magisterium – Pope and Bishops in communion with him. Skai constantly attacks the Magisterium’s teaching document the CCC by implying that we should follow individual Bishops not the teaching of the Magisterium. The Doctrine of the Faith is contained in the CCC and is the teaching document of the Magisterium.
Maryanne Leonard, you present a false dichotomy. “Questioning” to oneself the teachings of the Church and “asking questions” to oneself are ONE THING. BUT to publicly on the internet express dissent and disagreement with the Church’s teachings on important life issues IS A DIFFERENT MATTER! By dissenting publicly you cause scandal; by dissenting publicly you sin; by dissenting publicly you cause confusion.
Nor only that, sometimes when you or others express your dissent, at the same time you hurl insults at the clergy of the Church. Shameful and sinful behavior.
Maryanne you said nothing wrong here on this thread….jon is bearing false witness….
Jon, I shall take the good advice of others and not engage in defense of my own lifelong devotion to the teachings of the Catholic Church in honoring life from conception to natural death. I do, however, demand that you cease and desist in publishing false and slanderous personal attacks against me, which have put you in legal jeopardy, as you may not have considered heretofore. I further suggest that you follow the good advice of Daniel, above, who is offering excellent guidance you need to take out of concern for your own eternal soul.
Editor, please note: In allowing the publishing of personal attacks, especially of this profoundly low level, you are failing me personally as well as not living up to standards you have previously said you will not permit.
I have been subjected to other insults in the past, but in the course of debate of values and ideas, but never of this shocking a level. Please direct your staff of volunteers never again to allow such profoundly outrageous and false attacks to be published. Please remove the false and slanderous statement of “jon” against me at once and block any further slanderous comments against me from ever being published again. I hope you will publish my statement in its entirety, including this portion. I am stunned and offended beyond my ability to express myself.
Maryanne Leonard, it bothers me to see you be subjected to such slanderous insults. Even though we may have had our differences in the past, I can not be blind to the outrage that jon has committed here. I can not help being disgusted when a man attacks a senior citizen. Few things are more vile than that. It takes a coward to do something like that. If personal attacks were banned, so many of the commenters here would not have anything to say. These guys are like monkeys slinging poop. They think that what they are doing here is fascinating and cute, but actually it is disgusting. I would not blame you if you took a break from visiting this website. I do that often. May the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob bless you.
Thank you, Ski Ven. I often enjoy your comments and do most sincerely thank you for your blessing.
I think it is okay to challenge a person who may be in error, even those to whom the Lord has graciously granted a goodly number of years of life. To attack falsely or slander in print anyone of any age (or gender) is, however, indefensible, sinful, and utterly reprehensible. A disordered person does not care about the unwarranted hurt and harm he causes his victim, and senior citizens are not exempt from outrageous attacks.
I do not protest this defamation of my character based on my age or his possible lack thereof, but rather on the foundational insufficiency of this outrageous and false attack.
However, I do want to reassure any younger readers that despite loss of good looks and often of good health, being granted a long life is a great gift from God. To my surprise, old age is truly the most wonderful though most difficult time of our lives for most of us. I’ll trade being a young object of lust for these happy years gladly! I love and appreciate my wonderful husband, friends and family all the more, as they do me, again, to my great surprise. Take good care of yourselves and others, my friends, in every way – your life may last longer than you think!!
I do not share your enthusiasm for old age. My mom has to depend on me for a lot of things. I have become very familiar with hospitals because I had to take her there several times. I have become familiar with the health problems that old people have and do not look forward to them or not being able to take care of myself. I can not imagine not being able to fix my car, maintain my house, maintain my yard, and take care of dogs. I certainly can’t afford to hire a mechanic, or a plumber, or a roofer. It looks like there is no way I could make as a old person. Besides I would be miserable if I could no longer run around and climb trees and all I could do is hobble around with a walker. I would be better off as a martyr.
Maryanne Leonard I posted a reply to this to you but they did not allow to go through….so again I will try to remember what I said to you. I agree with you being upset, jon is truly being offensive and disrespectful to you, also I noted that he has done that to many here too…..take heart, we can discern who really are dissenting here and you are not one….again I am sorry that you felt disrespected. You do not deserve that! God bless you : ) Plus many can suspect that there is something not totally honest about the person who disrespected you….there is something there but I won’t get into that, we can judge from past dialogues we have had though. Take care and don’t let him get to you.
I tried to respond to Mandy a few times, but my responses did not show up. I haven’t figured out yet if it is a technological issue or a human resources issue. I did not come anywhere close to saying the kinds of slimy things that were already published on this site. I can not believe how people who promote the CCC can be so nasty. They are turning this site into a sewer. I am appalled with their viciousness. They should be ashamed of themselves. Jesus weeps.
Rather than posting personal beliefs in the public media which may or may not conform to Church teaching, Catholics when implying they are Catholic must adhere to the Bible and the teachings of our Magisterium (Pope & Bishops in communion with him) which are contained in the “Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second Edition”.
We must not add to the confusion, relativism, heresy or scandal that is constantly being perpetrated by the public media.
CCC: ” 2496 The means of social communication (especially the mass media) can give rise to a certain passivity among users, making them less than vigilant consumers of what is said or shown. Users should practice moderation and discipline in their approach to the mass media. They will want to form enlightened and correct consciences the more easily to resist unwholesome influences. ”
There is an entire section in the CCC about the use of the media.
Susan, why are you posting a personal belief that personal beliefs should not be posted? Had a check up lately?
I finally figured out why a few posters disparage the “Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second Edition”.
1) There are those who due to their personal sins or personal beliefs do not want everyone to know and adhere to the “TRUE” teachings of the Church.
or
2) There are those who believe that Bishops are the true teachers – which is true and this is contained in the CCC; but they do not consider that the CCC is from the Pope and the Bishops themselves – the Magisterium. The Pope and good Bishops have given us this tool so that when some Bishops or Priests teach error – we will be armed with the TRUTH.
All literate persons should read the Bible and the CCC at home on a regular basis, so that we will know the TRUTH, and can pass on the TRUTH to others.
“….the Catechism has raised throughout the world, even among non-Christians, and confirms its purpose of being presented as a full, complete exposition of Catholic doctrine, enabling everyone to know what the Church professes, celebrates , lives, and prays in her daily life.” – Pope John Paul II (CCC pg xiv)
Both the “Catechism of the Council of Trent” and the “Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second Edition” were provided to combat ERROR.
So, LILA, you’re bottom line is that the Catholic Church did not really exist prior to the publication of either the Bible or the CCC? Had a reality check lately?
Of the 99 posts 9 directly addressed the topic; 3 were totally off topic; 28 were just a comment to reply to another comment; 45 were criticisms or insults, usually of other commenters; 13 were posts to defend self or other posters; 3 were to praise others. Some posts contained more than one category so there are more than 99 mentioned here.
Anonymo, you forgot to include your own category, which is the number of posts which have zero content.
If we keep commenting here, he is going to have to keep updating his count. Poor guy.
So lets review: these kinds of posts are not appreciated: posts which dissent from Catholic teaching; personal conversations between posters that have nothing to do with the article; anonymous posts; trolling; personal attacks; nasty posts.
