The newly confirmed U.S. secretary of state has vowed to support the LGBT agenda by flying pride flags at United States embassies and resurrecting the “special envoy for the human rights of LGBTI persons.”
Antony Blinken, who was confirmed 78-22 by the United States Senate Tuesday, shared his thoughts about LGBT issues during his Senate confirmation hearing last week, which took place before President Joe Biden took office.
As he questioned Blinken, Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said, “You and President-elect Biden have indicated that you’re going to support, appoint a new special envoy for human rights on LGBTI people, a position that I’ve been pushing to make permanent through the International Human Rights Defense Act.” As a presidential candidate, Biden vowed to make LGBT activism a centerpiece of his foreign policy.
“After four years of Trump administration efforts to specifically marginalize, minimize, do damage to the rights of the LGBTI people, I think it’s going to be vital to appoint a seasoned expert on this issues. Are you going to move forward towards a speedy appointment towards an LGBTI envoy and would you consider raising it to an ambassadorial level?” Markey asked.
Blinken answered in the affirmative: “This is a matter, I think, of some real urgency, we’ve seen violence directed against LGBTQI people around the world increase. We’ve seen, I believe, the highest number of murders of transgender people, particularly women of color, that we’ve seen ever and so I think the United States playing the role that it should be playing in standing up for and defending the rights of LGBTQI people is something the Department is going to take on and take on immediately.”
Markey also asked Blinken if he would “repudiate the findings of the report of the Commission on Unalienable Rights and reaffirm the United States’ acceptance and adherence to the human rights laid out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights” and whether he would “ensure that ambassadors are able to fly the pride … flag at our embassies around the world.”
“Yes to both,” Blinken replied.

This is a much needed change. As long as gay men are thrown to their deaths off roofs in places like Saudi Arabia, we need these positions. And I’m also thankful that the US State Department will no longer be a wing of the Trump re-election campaign – or any re-election campaign for that matter.
Christians are killed at a rate of 13 per day worldwide.
San Francisco morals have corrupted the world.
And so we need Christian flags too because they die at a higher rate. Treating others with respect goes both ways but condoning and celebrating disordered orientations is unnatural and dangerous.
So, with the Communist Chinese building the world’s largest navy and threatening Taiwan and India, the Russians in Ukraine, Iran developing nuclear weapons with money we gave them and other issues, it’s most important that we wave rainbow flags around the world?!
We rightly condemn mistreatment of gays, but then let’s not reward the Saudis by killing American oil or the Iranians (who also kill gays) by giving them money and allowing them to continue to develop nukes. The world needs more than virtue signalling. Why don’t we wave a white flag while we’re at it?
I’m sure this waving of flags, other than our nation’s, will convince the totalitarians and terrorists of the world that we’re really nice people and they should treat their minorities nicely too. (Ask the Muslims in China how well that works!)
As I recall, Pope Francis said we should not permit secular law to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, Love the sinner, hate the sin.
I don’t believe we should have to fly a pride flag alongside the Stars and Stripes. E Pluribus Unum includes those with whom we do not agree.
You are misquoting.
Where’s the misquote? Please specify. I believe I am accurately summarizing what the Pope said within the last month.

There will be a silver lining by this action. It will show all foreigners that the United States can’t be trusted socially during the Biden administration. Flying this flag is a warning symbol.
the US “can’t be trusted socially”. Does that mean that the Ambassador might spill his drink at those swanky embassy cocktail parties?
Anonymous,
Maybe. Although I was referring to social policy.
By the way, i just learned that Catholic World Report has been banned from Twitter for speaking basic truth.

Everyone should practice good manners and good morals, and be kind to all whom they neet—including anyone struggling with “LGBT” issues. However, to fly the “Rainbow Flag,” no. The “Rainbow Flag” is a symbol of the gay lifestyle, which is extremely destructive and immoral. Our country should help “LGBTs,” but help them also, to avoid the “gay lifestyle.” America should help all who have difficult struggles of any kind, and also help struggling people lead a good life, and abide by good morals. America should stand firmly, too, against pornography and sex trafficking, including gay pornography and gay sex trafficking. Millions of underage kids, as well as adults, are suffering, worldwide, trapped in these evil situations.
