To: Clergy
From: Bishop Jaime Soto
I have appointed Fr. Ronald Torres, vicar general for the Diocese of Sacramento, effective today, March 16, 2018.
Fr. Torres currently serves as the parochial administrator of St. Joseph Parish, Yreka, California. He will continue to serve in this position until June 30, 2018. Starting July 2, 2018 he will work full-time at the Pastoral Center in Sacramento. Fr. Torres was ordained in June, 2013. He is 48 years of age. He has demonstrated pastoral maturity, priestly zeal, and a gentle fraternal manner in his work.
I welcome him as part of the dedicated team of co-workers who labor with me at the Pastoral Center. Yesterday, we offered our prayers and good wishes to Bishop Myron Cotta, the former vicar general, who began his new responsibilities as the sixth bishop of Stockton. Please join me in congratulating Fr. Torres and offering him our prayers as he prepares to serve the Diocese of Sacramento in this new capacity
Full story at Diocese of Sacramento website.
Given Fr. Torres age, one can calculate he appears to have spent some fifteen years in some occupation before entering seminary. I would be interested in knowing what that was. The link to the website only shows the same memo as in the story.
