Father Joseph Illo, pastor of Star of the Sea in San Francisco, gave a 14-minute homily on Sunday, March 6.

In the sermon Father Illo urged his parishioners to practice a fasting from noise. He described his attempts to enforce this discipline on himself, including early morning prayer at Lands End park, where his silence was interrupted by a groundskeeper’s rock music.

15-second excerpt:

“What did we do when we were locked down a year ago during the pandemic? Did we read the Summa theologica? Did we read the Bible?”
