LA County’s reinstated mask mandate will affect Massgoers this Sunday, as the Department of Public Health is requiring everyone, regardless of vaccination status, to mask up indoors beginning at 11:59 p.m. on July 17.
The new order comes as the county has reported higher numbers of Covid-19 cases, many related to the newer Delta strain. On July 15, the county reported over 1,500 new cases, the highest in recent weeks.
California dropped its mask mandate for vaccinated individuals on June 15, and lifted almost all restrictions on businesses and public places. That same weekend, Archbishop José Gomez lifted the dispensation from attending Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation, and churches in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles reopened at full capacity.
While churches in LA County will be required to have parishioners wear masks on Sunday, churches in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties are not included in the new regulations. The mandate does not include any capacity limitations or requirements.
The above comes from a July 16 story in Angelus News.
I didn’t wear one. Try to make me.
Why should we bother getting vaccinated or wearing a mask when we can all wear a sign on our foreheads that says “selfish idiot” instead?
Go ahead. Free country.
The most vaccinated countries are the countries with the most covid cases. Explain that one. Disease experts are worried that the data are proving the vaccines don’t work.
No disease experts are saying the vaccines don’t work. It is possible that the more vaccinated countries opened up faster than others and thus the virus spreads faster than in a place where people still mask and distance. It is also possible that vaccinated individuals, who definitely can test positive, might be able to be spreaders of the virus to others, though that has yet to be proven. But 97-99% of deaths last month were among UNVaccinated people. These vaccines, especially the mRNA variety, nearly prevent death. They save lives.
Respectfully, you are simply WRONG.(you and half the country that trusts Pharma financed main stream news, virtually everything)
Gibraltar has a virtual 100% vaccination rate, and is HIGH on the list of new cases. You simply are lacking the gamut of information. Conversely, the LEAST vaccinated countries are at the bottom of the list of new cases, IOW least number.
The INVENTOR of mRNA vaccines is MOST worried. (And his skeptism is SQUASHED online, big time, again, look to Pharma and allies, MSN, Big Tech)https://www.zerohedge.com/covid-19/worrying-me-quite-bit-mrna-vaccine-inventor-shares-viral-thread-showing-covid-surge-most
I’m not wrong. You are spreading right wing lies. Those lies will cause needless deaths. There have been 0 deaths in Gibraltar in the last week and I suspect in the weeks just prior.
It simply is irrelevant. If you want to wave the red shirt about Catholics not being pro life or endangering people for lack of jab or masks, go ahead. I’ll repeat. If you need to stay home, stay home. If you have loved ones who you think should stay home, do so. Life goes on. It always will despite your fear fantasies.
Let people weigh the risks for themselves. There is more than sufficient data and resources for everyone to decide for themselves.
This is all true. The COVID vaccines are biological weapons. They will kill countless people. The words of Dr. Malone (the mRNA inventor) are just the tip of the iceberg.
I’m not wrong. You are spreading right wing lies. Those lies will cause needless deaths. Gibraltar has had 0 cases in the last week and for the weeks prior.
Gibraltar? hahaha. How about Israel?
Anonymous at 6:03 PM My Gibralter reference was a response to Anonymous at 12:04 who told me I was wrong because Gibralter something or other that isn’t true.
It is not about your health. It is all about power! I am 76, have not worn a mask at Mass for months (I can’t shop in some stores without one so I wear my This mask is as useless as “Doctor” Fauci mask). I keep hoping I get Covid so I will have natural immunity.
I eat well, maintain a healthy weight (not easy as I get older), take Vit C , Vit D3, Zinc and have hydroxychloroquine and ZPak in case I get sick.
Old fat people with co-morbidities are at increased risk. But, of course, masks don’t do any good (scientifically speaking). Staying away from sick people would be prudent. True for everyone.
The bishops are once again content to bow to Caesar.
Pasadena has its own health department, which has decided to abide by CDC guidelines rather than LA County’s, so Pasadena churches do not have to have parishioners wear masks.
I anyone thinking, anymore? Go ahead, wear your “obedience” mask if it makes you feel safe or accepted by friends.
A Group Of Parents Sent Their Kids’ Face Masks to A Lab for Analysis. Here’s What They Found

Stay well.
Miss Information, I’m sure you understand that Town Hall represents itself as “conservative” news, which is an oxymoron statement. A site that calls itself a “liberal” new site would also be oxymoronic. News should be unbiased, or at least try to be so. I know … I know, most don’t meet the standards of good journalism. For every liberal news article I read, I try to find a conservative one on the same subject – hard to do since each lives in a different world.
You should be glad the masks caught all those nasty bugs so they couldn’t go down their throats. Stop with the selfish babyish complaining: vax, mask and save lives!
Mmm… yeah… about those masks…
“Dr. Anthony Fauci wrote in a February 2020 that a typical store-bought face mask “is not really effective in keeping out virus, which is small enough to pass through material.”
His sentiment was echoed earlier this week by Dr Colin Axon, a SAGE advisor for the UK government, who told the London Telegraph that medics have given people a “cartoonish” view of how how microscopic viruses travel through the air, and the masks have gaps in them that are up to 5000 times bigger than COVID particles.
“The small sizes are not easily understood but an imperfect analogy would be to imagine marbles fired at builders’ scaffolding, some might hit a pole and rebound, but obviously most will fly through,” Axon said.”
Viruses don’t travel in purified form. They travel with bits of snot and the stuff that makes up our airways. Hence. Masks don’t have to filter out particles the size of a single purified virus. We have tons of evidence that we’ll fitting masks slow the spread of this virus. If you have a better idea, let’s hear it, since I know you have spent decades doing virology and infectious disease research in large labs with lots of funding.
You clearly don’t understand aerosol particuate distribution. It’s not the giant goobers we have to worry about. There are on line videos on aerosol particulates.
Masks are not effective. Here is one study from Annals of Internal Medicine.
https://www.acpjournals.org/doi/10.7326/M20-6817
Their conclusion: “The recommendation to wear surgical masks to supplement other public health measures did not reduce the SARS-CoV-2 infection rate among wearers by more than 50% in a community with modest infection rates, some degree of social distancing, and uncommon general mask use. The data were compatible with lesser degrees of self-protection.”

Thank you for bringing a peer reviewed journal article for discussion! It is a refreshing thing to have a civilized dialogue.
The bottom line is that the best way to protect yourself is to get vaccinated. However, even with vaccination, many many people are getting symptomatic COVID since the re-opening in June, thanks to the very very contagious Delta variant. Very few have gotten seriously ill, but among the unvaccinated, hospitalizations and deaths are increasing pretty dramatically.
As to this study and surgical masks. Again thanks for bringing this study, and in fact it is the first time I’ve seen someone attempt to do this kind of randomized controlled trial. There were a number of caveats: Few others were wearing masks, and there wasn’t a whole lot of virus going around. Those are important caveats.
Also surgical masks are not necessarily all that good when used the way most people use them. I’ve seen studies that visualized the natural water vapor we all give off, and surgical masks mostly divert the water vapor out the sides of the mask, and very little goes through the mask. I imagine that happens with the aerosolized virus as well. This is why in my post, and in all of my posts when I remember to do so, I emphasize “well fitted masks”. A surgical mask can become a well fitted mask if one wears a tighter fitting mask over it. The tighter fitting mask doesn’t filter out more particles, it just prevents aerosols from escaping out the sides without going through the surgical mask material. Just today I saw a silicone device on Amazon that you can put a surgical mask into that creates a great fit and helps the mask stand away from the mouth to make it easier to breath and doesn’t smudge lipstick.
I myself when I am indoors for any length of time wear an approved KN95 mask which I make better fitting and quite comfortable with a silicone strap goes around my neck or head and holds the ear loops. Much better fit, and much much more comfortable than have something tugging at my ears. And KN95s, as well as their US and South Korean versions, are much better at keeping out virus and keeping any virus I have from reaching the general air circulation.
But the best protection for ourselves as well as for others is for each of us to get vaccinated if we are medically able to do so.
Now pharma companies are saying a monthly shot will be recommended. Good grief. Can’t people see this is about control? It’s not about the covid flu.
No pharma company has said any such thing. Stop spreading lies.
Enough already with face diapers, they absolutely don’t do a thing in regards to COVID 19 it will always be with us as the Flu will always be with us. This is all Democrat theater to keep the sheeple obeying.
